Good luck replacing it i hope they do you should be able to take a case on and off.

Yep. If you don't apply pressure to the back center of the case it shouldn't be an issue, and if they replace it then moving forward I won't. I will say that my iPhone 5 never had this issue so it just requires a change in handling.

I went to apple last night to show them my bent iphone 6 plus and they said they could replace it for $165+tax..

Now i know for 100% certain that sitting with the phone in my front pocket driving my car bent it. I know this because i have racing bucket seats in my car. I was wearing automotive tech pants no tight skinny jeans in my collection. Also I will add I did not have a case on my phone.

maybe youre too wide to fit in those seats ;)

I take your point but surely we're all fanboys of a sort otherwise we wouldn't be members of this forum! I always use a case on my phones, which I wish I didn't have to, simply because they're very easily dropped and at the very least that will damage any phone regardless! And it should be fairly obvious that a thin profile aluminium phone might be a little more vulnerable to damage. Caveat Emptor and use a case as most people do anyway. Not nearly as big a deal as is being made of it in my opinion.

yeah the new 6+ are not the bricks we iphone folk are accustom to. Obviously due to basic physics people who have them will need to adjust the way they handle them or step down to the 6.

Has nobody thought of how this will impact using your iPhone and going training with your Apple watch?

I mean Apple are promoting Health / fitness / training and i assume you need your new iPhone 6 to use with an Apple Watch so unless training involves leaving your mobile in a locker i can see this issues getting much worse...

How is that even a real poll? I mean you Apple fanboi's are going to vote no even if you don't even currently own a Iphone 6 or plus! Thats real numbers data give me a break. you guys are like a bunch of little kids the way you act.

there is no need to get real numbers. but even if the poll results are showing that the only the minority of 6/6+ owners in this forum are affected of this problem, it will show one, that we cant say that this is a COMMON problem right now. u know?

Why doesn't someone just go and try it..

Waiting for someone to go into an apple store and try to bend one of the demo phones.. That will be a good indicator.. I encourage anyone who really wants to know to try and discreetly try it.

It amounts to proving a negative. Period.

If I drop my phone off of a 30 story buliding, but then post a picture of a fluffy pillow and claim I dropped it onto that from 1 foot instead, does it prove anything?

Of course not. And if you DO believe that it does, you are the sheep in this equation, not the millions of people "defending" Apple by simply pointing out they aren't bending their phones.

Get butt hurt all you want, and sitting on your phone probably will only compound that hurt by the way, but it doesn't change the FACT that no one has proven the phone can bend "in the front pocket of loose fitting pants".

You can believe whatever BS you want (and so "certain" ;) people don't get further butt hurt, I'll just leave it at that), but it doesn't make it true just because you believe it. There are certain levels of confirmation that need to happen for MOST reasonable people. So far, the handful (literally) of people affected by this do not represent that burden.

No it has a tiny mark from dropping it 5" onto a rubber mat at work. Your going to tell me oh well that's why yours bent because you dropped it on a rubber mat. You are 100% incorrect., I thoroughly inspected it and the phone was still not bent. I then got into my car and drove to Arby's for lunch. When I got back I had to take a customers vehicle on a test drive therefore i got back into another vehicle sat down and drove. When I got back I pulled my phone out of my pocket and it was bent. The fact of this is Iphone Plus without a case will bend easily, especially if you put it in your front pocket and drive somewhere or have Racing Bucket seats like I do.

I'm not a "troll" I love Apple products, I have a MacBook Air, 5 Ipads (2 Air, 1 Regular and 2 Mini. I like Apple over any Windows based device. I cant stand windows. I have to use it for work because the dealership has a certain program that has to be ran thru windows but if we could go to Macs I absolutely would. So its not about me sabotaging Apple but they seriously should have thought about people trying to stuff a big phone into there pockets without a case!

I can fully understand you on this on as I have said on a previous post I ware these pants and I'm not big and do a lot of driving with my job I am a 32" wast and for the past 3 years I have had a sg 2 in there and for the last 2 a note 2 as well there is **** loads of room for a big phone in each side pocket I can see how the 6 would bend and I think it would be from if phone is in left pocket screen facing leg it would flex from top left to bottom right this is how my note feels today so if and I know it is the iPhone + is longer and more flexible then this is going to happen to the phone a couple of days and you will see the result. A ridged case is the only answer as more flexible cases will not do and then you are still taking a chance. I really feel for you and all the others that it has happened to as the flex problem cos that's what it is is will have never come into there minds until all this happened. That said I think If you must go down the road of a long aluminium phone then you are going to have to think hard on how you are going to look after it. These people didn't do it on purpose they are the misfortunate ones to have to be the ginny pigs for the phone manufactures.

Would the solution be sliding the pocketed phone to the side of your leg when you sit down. I do this if I have a large bundle of keys because its uncomfortable otherwise.

That would be like damaging foreign property and it is punishable by law...
People should just stop with this idiotic discussion.

Exactly Thank you! at least you aren't a apple dick rider and can see flaws in a design even if it is an Apple product. and not just hype the brand.

a bit worried about this, my 6+ is to be delivered today.

however, following reports that every phone bends, I looked at my old iPhone 4S that I am using for now, sure that it would be perfectly straight; and just noticed that it was indeed bent! mmm....

also, I sold my 5S a few days ago; I would never have thought it could be bent; but now that I think about it, after 6 months of use, I had to return my Apple case as the left corner of the case would pop up by itself all the time. I got a replacement case, and that case started having the same problem after a few hours of use.
Although I never thought about it then, now sounds like it may also have been bent.

Well hopefully if it does bend, it won't be to the extend of what we see in these videos, and hopefully I won't be tempted to verify that every 5 min.

It looks like an identical load of pressure in the video though. The iPhone 6 Plus is quite a bit bigger and the fact it is so thin would suggest the danger of it bending is higher. My standard iPhone 6 hasn't bent and I wear slim fit jeans where I'm sure the pressure in my pocket could bend it in theory. Any pressure put on a device is going to increase the risk of damage and the video of the Samsung S4 shows it is also ossicle to be damaged under load. I think this debate is in danger of being selective depending on which devices the individual likes or dislikes.

This is good to hear. I was originally hoping that the 6 would be my first phone I don't use a case with and just take the risk of spending $100 or so for a glass repair if I drop it the wrong way. If any more reports do come out about the smaller 6 bending, I will just get a rigid low profile clear case though.

The 6 will be more easily bent than any other smartphone available to date. Thin 6061 non-tempered aluminum shell with large footprint and very small material cross section near buttons, switches and sim tray are to blame.

So what are your plans? I was thinking about upgrading from my 4..

The new camera on the 6 and 6 plus seem fantastic but this bending "feature" might prevent me from buying a new iPhone. :(

Well, I'm a developer that does plan some iOS work soon and I'm in the payments space so am still going get the iPhone 6 4.7". If any more reports come out in the coming days about the smaller one bending or warping, I will probably go with a rigid low profile clear case. Perhaps the plastic case will also act as a bid of an insulator against the aluminum back. This will further reduce the risk of the aluminum bending due to increase pliability from the temperature in a front pants pocket. That's my theory at least.

After a few days of owning it you will realize it doesn't bend like a pop tart.

Thats what makes bend gate so annoying is its hard to gauge "TO WHAT DEGREE" its more sensitive.

The main reason this worry also exists is because most people still don't have a 6Plus in the wild, so before they can even hold it in their hands, they are being bombarded by a barrage of illustrations that make it seem like its playdoh.

But its still sturdy and its not gonna be malleable to the extent where you have to change it up how you use it dramatically.

You can still do everything the same, except be wary of putting tight pressure on it. And it should have been an expectation from the beginning and nothing here but a reminder to be aware.

The device Apple constructed is fine and solid enough.

I have a fix for everyone who thinks putting a phone is in your pocket is unreasonable: introducing the iTrashBag. :D j/k

Wait a minute, so you're saying this is an overreaction? No, can't be.

If I try to park my BMW in a spot that's too tight the fenders and door panels will get scratched and dented! Crashgate! Someone call the press! What is BMW going to do about it?
