I registered here to report that my regular iPhone 6 also bent yesterday.

It is sad that so many people are leaving the usual negative comments that place the blame on individual users. How is it unreasonable to expect a phone not to bend while in your FRONT pocket?

For me, it bent while removing it from the extremely tight fitting Incipio case that was purchased with the phone on Friday. As I was fighting the case to get the phone out, I thought to myself that I will not put it back in the thing for fear of it breaking. It was that hard to get it out. Unfortunately, it bent the first time I removed it!

Mine is not as bad as others, but it is bent. It wobbles when the screen is placed flat on a table, and one corner of the screen sticks out. Also, the screen now makes a clicking noise when the phone is held.

So what next? I guess i am calling AT&T today.

Good Luck with ATT your going to have to come out of pocket $200 bucks to get it replaced.

People keeping on insisting on bigger and thinner and then are surprised that the phones are more fragile. This isn't just Apple, I think that any phone this size would have the same problem. I suppose they could make them out of steel, but then people would be complaining that they were too heavy.
Who is asking for thinner? I would have been happier with a slightly thicker phone, that is more rigid, no protruding and better protected camera, and even more battery. Sign me up for that phone!!

And there are aluminum alloys and other metals like titanium that are light and more rigid.
What's the point though and I'm being serious not having a go but what's the point of making a thin phone when you have to put an otter box on it.

No kidding. To add to the point, whats with having a woody for a metal phone if it has to be incased in plastic? If plastic is more durable (as the Note 3 seems to indicate) and at the end of the day that is all you see... Well?

FYI, I received an iPhone 6 last Friday. Had a Ghost Armor screen protector installed (by Ghost Armor) on Sunday afternoon. They told me to not put it into a hard case for 24 hours. Monday afternoon, as I was putting into a case for the rear only, the glass shattered with the very little pressure needed to get it into the case.

Apple is replacing this phone free of charge, but it does worry me about the design.

Ummm... WOW!

I have an unbent plus, and a bent regular

Regular came bent out the box. Check my post at ATT preorder thread , page 503 (pics there). I just unboxed a plus, on video so you know I hadn't touched it, and it's not bent.

Look at the trolls out in full force with no proof. Don't worry no one is belching you without visual proof

Because bigger and thinner is what the public wanted. As we all can see, there are certain drawbacks to this. The old adage of "give the public what they want and then sit back and listen to them complain" is certainly present here.

More like Apple loves thinner and thinner is what the public gets. Personally I'd sacrifice some thinness for a host of other things such as a bigger battery, sturdiness, a non-protruding camera, etc.

Agreed. I have my 6 Plus out for delivery right now, and I'm already a little freaked out. This was NOT cheap!

I posted in this in the other thread but I think it deserves to be repeated here.

Stop putting the phone in your pocket; really?

If the phone, which is at most five days old, is bending because it is kept in people's pocket, that is a very real problem. Here are a couple of reasons why:

The first:

The public generally expects to carry a phone in their pocket. Cellphones have been marketed to us in this fashion.

A person should not be expected to change the way they behave just to fit a new product in their lives. The new product should conform to the way a person lives his/her life.

I have had a cellphone since 2003 and I have kept all my cell phones in my pocket. 90 percent of the planet will put their phone in their pocket.

The second:

The iPhone 6+ has only been out for five days. In five days we have already had complaints.

If this issue popped up say a year or two into the release of the device, I would be more sympathetic to the argument that it’s just normal wear and tear caused by carrying the device in a person’s pocket.

If someone's phone warped that much over a short period of time, what does that say about it longevity? Not very much. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see significant failures over the long term.

My HTC M8 is now 6 months old and it hasn’t warped yet. If it has warped at all, it’s not noticeable.

I also want to make this observation.

I don't own an iPhone 6, but I do own a MacBook Pro and have had several Macbooks going all the way back to 2004. I’ve owned iPhones in the past and I have also owned iPods.

I have noticed the same issue with common problems on any Apple product. Rather than finding support in the Apple community, there tends to be a vocal group which criticizes people who are having problems and makes ridiculous suggestions. If you discuss them, you get chastised by the Apple Community for bringing it up.

The reaction of the Apple Community to this problem is the main reason why many people will never buy Apple products. It’s one of the reasons I get frustrated with the Apple products that I own.

I’ve also owned PCs in the same period. I have noticed a very different response from the PC community to common problems.

Take Vista, the community collectively expressed its frustration with the operating system. Microsoft was forced to respond with Windows 7. The community was actually pleased with that update as it addressed many of the problems people found with Vista.

Look at Windows 8, the community expressed even more frustration with that operating system. Microsoft was forced to reply with Windows 8.1. The community hasn’t accepted that completely either. Microsoft's CEO was forced to resign and Windows 9 is expected to address the most common complaint (the lack of a proper start menu).

I have also noticed in the past 10 years, Apple quality has suffered. The quality of Apple products in the past was much better than it is now. Look at the iBooks and the iPods from early 2000-2004. The devices lasted longer. They generally worked very well. Despite updates or any other major changes to the device, the devices remained functional. My friend still uses his iBook from 2004 for some things, although he has upgraded to a new Macbook for his daily needs.

"Bendgate" is just the latest example of common defects in Apple products. If the community doesn’t hold Apple accountable for poor products, Apple is allowed to release more and more poor products.

In the long run only harms Apple. If someone had a bad experience with an Apple product, that person discovers it a common problem with that very same product, and finds very little support in the community for the issues he/she had, it’s unlikely that person will ever purchase another Apple product.

The opposite is true as well. My first Apple product was an iPod, it lasted me 4 years before the hard drive died. Sure the hard drive died and it was disappointing but that’s to be expected after 4 years. The longevity of the product was one of the reason I decided to purchase a Macbook over a competitor’s device.

I love Apple products in general, but telling someone not to put their phone in their front pocket is just.. ridiculous. Back pocket I agree. No device is designed to take that kind of weight. But a front pocket? Absolutely.

Other than this guy, can anyone else confirm bending of their iPhone 6 Plus? Could he have a bad batch? It just sucks that it's only been 5 days and this is happening.

Sorry - I did not read the 48 pages of posts.

If the leather in your shoes cracked after 2 weeks, you would have a legitimate complaint. If the leather in your shoes cracked after 2 years, you would not have a legitimate complaint.

That is the point, these phones are bending after 5 days.

Yeah, I count two people and one actually bent it for a video.

Its not a problem , its 2 phones about of about 10 billion sold. You don't put aluminium foil in your pocket expect it not to bend!! Come on.

If you want proof , you would need at least 20 or 30 billion bent iphones for it to be statisticaly significant. Until then , just keep your mouth shut!!

2 in this thread have provided pictures. One mobile site guy posted a video of his rocking. Someone just posted a twitter link that had a reply showing a bent plus. None of those are the weird guy that intentionally bent his.

The disinformation is strong in here.

I'm itching to go pick up a 6 tomorrow, but I don't want to deal with a return/replace headache, so I am waiting at the moment.

Did you read the responses? A guy posted about his 6 plus bending ( he provided a pic), stated in happened in his front pocket and that apple replaced it.

just 1?

Which was previously his point that is happening to very few users and it's not a pandemic

I tried this with my htc one m7 (which has been dropped a lot, has screen cracks at bottom and top but not very noticeable) i cant bend it, i think it would snap before it bent. I think people are overlooking the problem here with the 6+. Forget bending it with pressure thats a dumb test, but it bending your pocket is definitely a cause for concern. It has less to do with aluminum and more to do with a structural problem. They seem to all be bending in the same spot and that just screams structural weak point. Why would people on here be blaming users who put the phone in their pocket? thats where the freaking phone is supposed to be when not in use. Sure you might tell buyers just put a case on it to prevent this, why not just make the phone thicker in the first place? why does the user have to go out buy a case that triples the width of the phone, when they could easily make the phone bigger from the start or include a case to fix the problem that they shipped it with. I wanted the 6plus, but now I am gonna wait to see if they can fix this issue in future builds/ 6s plus

10 billion sold? 20/30 billion? You realize the population of the planet is 6 billion and not everyone uses an iPhone.

Also from my impression, there are quite a few complaints of bending.
