Hopefully going forward Apple sort out QC, ASAP.

Yeah they need to change the chassis of the 7mm thick phone to the new type of metal just discovered called unbendableium.*

*Such a material may not actually exist.

I saw the video of that guy straining to bend the iPhone 6+.

If someone has the phone in their pocket subjected to that kind of stress and they don't notice the searing pain in their thighs and remove the phone, they have only themselves to blame.

but maybe there are other videos of the phones bending in strong winds and under withering cross-examination.

Wait a minute, so you're saying this is an overreaction? No, can't be.

If I try to park my BMW in a spot that's too tight the fenders and door panels will get scratched and dented! Crashgate! Someone call the press! What is BMW going to do about it?

BJ
A more accurate analogy would be a few reports from owners who drove their brand new BMW at 70mph and their wheel bearings started smoking and now make a grinding noise while driving around. Bearingate! Then, dozens of BMW apologists, who don't even own a BMW, come out of the woodwork asking why anyone in their right mind would drive a vehicle that fast, while a few other BMW apologists, who actually own BMWs, report that they can do 100mph without any issues. Meanwhile, objective comments and incident reports are dismissed and buried under the attacks from the apologists.

I find the video to be absurd. Just for kicks I started bending my Optimus T, man it started to bend and the screen was bulging and it looked like it was about to pop, so I decided not to do it - first I need to wait for my new phone to arrive later today.

And then I need to get it on video - but I think I will thumb destroy it later today, just for fun and youtube notoriety ;)

But with that said, I am now going to switch gears and make the opposite point.
People can easily not notice every impact. I can jump in the shower and wonder where I got that huge bruise - having no idea when it happened.

If the phone is subject to bending, then it'll be bent by some people.
Just because that video thumb test is actually unscientific and ludicrous - I still suspect the problem of phone bending is real for many people.

FYI, I received an iPhone 6 last Friday. Had a Ghost Armor screen protector installed (by Ghost Armor) on Sunday afternoon. They told me to not put it into a hard case for 24 hours. Monday afternoon, as I was putting into a case for the rear only, the glass shattered with the very little pressure needed to get it into the case.

Apple is replacing this phone free of charge, but it does worry me about the design.

why dont you show us a picture of this

The problem is that the iphone 6 is also round. Doesn't have a single sharp edge. That makes it even weaker. If it was the same shape as iphone 4/5, it would be a lot more durable. They could also make them from stainless steel instead of aluminium, at least make it an option for ppl who don't care about weight.

I still use an iphone 4s and i love it. It's weight is perfect, holding it feels good. And its very durable too, dropped it a few times and not a scratch. Also been carrying it in my front pocket for years and it doesn't have even the slightiest bent.

It's think it's actually really weird how phones get bigger and lighter at the same time...

Woah, that is not good.

Remember how when the 1st iPhone came out it felt like the device was too fancy compared to clam shells?

It's was very fragile seeming.

Yet here we are.

All the bend gate vultures forget that changing how careful you are with a device is not unprecedented.

People keeping on insisting on bigger and thinner and then are surprised that the phones are more fragile. This isn't just Apple, I think that any phone this size would have the same problem. I suppose they could make them out of steel, but then people would be complaining that they were too heavy.

I bought a pair of sneakers two weeks ago and now they are dirty and have cracks in the leather! How could Nike do this?

SNEAKERGATE!

Well I finally got to check out the phones in person. Honestly, they do not feel appreciably more fragile than my 5 which is straight as an arrow after multiple falls snowboarding, two drops in a bumper case.

So seeing how I just got out of an eye exam, I went ahead and ordered the regular 6/128GB in Space Grey.....the screen is just too good to pass up and I had no issues using it in one hand.

Hopefully I will avoid the "Bends"...

Been working on my research paper all day, meaning to aggregate all the complaints of the bending later, then I decided to take a break and watch Bloomberg West, this is the main story, lol, apparently numerous people have complained of both iPhone 6 and 6 Plus bending, the issue seems to be snowballing quite rapidly, will be interesting going forward how many more early adopters run into this issue.

On a side note, Cory Johnson tired to bend a BlackBerry Passport, it didn't stay bent much like the Galaxy Note 3.

Hopefully going forward Apple sort out QC, ASAP.

What's the point though and I'm being serious not having a go but what's the point of making a thin phone when you have to put an otter box on it.

Because bigger and thinner is what the public wanted. As we all can see, there are certain drawbacks to this. The old adage of "give the public what they want and then sit back and listen to them complain" is certainly present here.

So, Events leading up to getting a tracking number today...

Okay, so this morning i woke up at like 6am, first thing i did was check my order status obviously...... but NOTHING......

So at around 1130 am i get an email from ATT with the subject of "Information about your ATT Plan".

Hmm Thats interesting, could it be a sign, or am i making something out of nothing........

Well, at around 3pm, i go online and check my order status on this page:

https://www.wireless.att.com/business/order_status/

And instead of having the normal 10/2 - 10/13 ship date listed, it said "pending confirmation"

YES, FINALLY something has changed.......so i go to the next order status URL i have........

https://www.att.com/order_status/order_status.jsp

Enter my info, and low and behold, the tracking number appears and there is a ship date of 9/24...which is yesterday!

Well now at least i know something is going on with my order. Still nothing in the fedex system when i try to lookup the order, so hopefully that will change between now and tomorrow. HOPEFULL that i will get the device tomorrow.

Hope everyone else gets to see the light at the end of the tunnel sooner rather than later! Good Luck everyone!!!

If the leather in your shoes cracked after 2 weeks, you would have a legitimate complaint. If the leather in your shoes cracked after 2 years, you would not have a legitimate complaint.

That is the point, these phones are bending after 5 days.

you do know this is the users first post and could be drive by trolling
Give up white knighting the brand ffs.

The op's issue was perhaps caused by the free-floating design of the OEM screen. Putting on a rigid overlay may have stopped the screen from flexing naturally and thus it broke. Stupid design tbh.

iPhone 6 bent taking out of case

I registered here to report that my regular iPhone 6 also bent yesterday.

It is sad that so many people are leaving the usual negative comments that place the blame on individual users. How is it unreasonable to expect a phone not to bend while in your FRONT pocket?

For me, it bent while removing it from the extremely tight fitting Incipio case that was purchased with the phone on Friday. As I was fighting the case to get the phone out, I thought to myself that I will not put it back in the thing for fear of it breaking. It was that hard to get it out. Unfortunately, it bent the first time I removed it!

Mine is not as bad as others, but it is bent. It wobbles when the screen is placed flat on a table, and one corner of the screen sticks out. Also, the screen now makes a clicking noise when the phone is held.

So what next? I guess i am calling AT&T today.

Simply not fit for purpose is it?

Of course. If apple release a case programming for it its going to have to be a modular case like the HTC one double dip, else your story is going to be repeated !
