Slap a case on it and it won't budge.

I bought an Otterbox case for mine. Thought it was too bulky so I took it off. Reading these posts is making me rethink the Otterbox case. I think that pure ol' common sense would tell a person that something made out of aluminum and this thin is likely to bend. I always thought that carrying a cell phone in the back pocket was a little foolish, and this just proves that I was right.

Remember how when the 1st iPhone came out it felt like the device was too fancy compared to clam shells?

It's was very fragile seeming.

Yet here we are.

All the bend gate vultures forget that changing how careful you are with a device is not unprecedented.

It's not a show piece. It's a phone. Other phones (even big phones) are up to the task of living a life in a pocket. I expect the same, if not BETTER, from Apple. Still waiting on my 6+. I'm not casing it and I'm not buying it it's own man-purse. It'll either survive and I'll be happy, or it won't and I'll move on to a phone that's up for it.

Wait a minute, you mean a really thin metal device bends when lateral pressure is applied to it?

No

Way.

Android junk is android junk. My i6+ doesn't bend like the OP all this nonsense is just FUD; each new release year for apple is the same; a bunch of people whining and complaining about non-issues and trying to drive up some hate.

Stop the FUD, enjoy your device or return it and buy an android doo-doo device. No one cares because apple products are superior and the only reason this has become a topic to discuss is because many of you fake the issue when there is non to begin with.

Move on and move past the hate

Oh the Apple fanboy response, gotta love it. 3 People at work have a 6+ and they all have the slight bend in them.

Oh dear oh dear - my 6 can't pick up my mobile network after the 8.01 update!! And earlier it dropped my wifi connection and couldn't pick up any wifi networks until I rebooted it!!

Wait a minute, so you're saying this is an overreaction? No, can't be.

If I try to park my BMW in a spot that's too tight the fenders and door panels will get scratched and dented! Crashgate! Someone call the press! What is BMW going to do about it?

BJ

It's not a fair comparison. If your parking skill is at fault, then you should blame yourself. If you are able to make the airbag deploy by simply hitting it, then that's manufacture's fault or a bad airbag sensor.
Indentation Force Deflection test is pretty standard in the industry. Even the IKEA chairs got that treatment. iPhone 6 is not the first phone with an aluminum body. But to be able to bend it with your bare hands, that's inexcusable.

According to this, it is supposed to bend, just a little bit.

If you're overweight or have jeans that are too tight, putting a giant aluminum iPhone in your pocket is pretty stupid. Give me a Samsung Galaxy S5 in those conditions, it'll break too.

The other day, I put a Hershey bar in my front pocket and sat down and the candy broke! Defective product! Chocolategate!

..after only a few days.....

I just don't understand why apple fans are so illogically defensive on this issue? The iPhone 6 is a order of magnitude less robust than the current crop of smart phones and owners are simply reporting what they see with it in use.

The vitriol to those who are trying to discuss the issue is bizarre. It's just a phone. They all have good and bad points.

It's also an order of magnitude thinner than the current crop of smart phones. It's hardly rocket science, thin things bend easier than thick things.

It's not being illogically defensive it's simply applying the laws of physics.

antennagate was eventually resolved, so too will bend gate.

Meanwhile antennagate didn't really impact most people, but it wasn't fiction either, there was some issues of attenuation with the iPhone 4. Meanwhile it was a great design, perfected in the 4s, which is one of
Apple's best.

My 6 plus is arriving today, I can't wait. but I will put it in a wallet case.

And still No Service after 15 minutes of removing SIM and rebooting. Jeezuz H Christ!!

Piece of advice - don't update to 8.01.

You are in the wrong thread buddy.

So in your opinion, apple went for thinness over strength. I have not issues with that statement. The rest is a matter of opinion as to which is more important to you.

Let's see. My wife had the S3, S4, G2, S5. She's now using the G3. I had the S1, S2, S3, S4, G2, G3. I've been using the Note 3 since launch. Like most ladies, my wife has a bad behavior of putting her phone in the back pocket. So far, none of them crack, bend,...
I'm an IT guy, so I have access to iPhone, WP, BB too but I don't carry them due to their OS limitations. I gave her an iPhone 5s few weeks after it launched. She sold it quickly and went back to the S4.

Here're our phones compare to the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 is so tall, it reminds me of the Oppo N1 with 5.9" screen. It looks huge compare to the Note 3 and much much taller than the G3 with a 5.5" screen.

Like I posted elsewhere, since this is guys and their front pockets -I think istimulation is causing bendies. Try not to get over-excited and turning off vibrate could help.. woodygate?

Not really, I've been part of this thread for several pages now, and might have been considered as one of the fanboys but now I'm having my doubts!

Damn Hershey bar broke after only 5 minutes in my pocket. Five minutes! What kind of candy bar would break in your front jeans pocket when you sit down? Are there no more engineers left in the world?

Chocolategate!

What's the point though and I'm being serious not having a go but what's the point of making a thin phone when you have to put an otter box on it.

Been working on my research paper all day, meaning to aggregate all the complaints of the bending later, then I decided to take a break and watch Bloomberg West, this is the main story, lol, apparently numerous people have complained of both iPhone 6 and 6 Plus bending, the issue seems to be snowballing quite rapidly, will be interesting going forward how many more early adopters run into this issue.

On a side note, Cory Johnson tired to bend a BlackBerry Passport, it didn't stay bent much like the Galaxy Note 3.

Hopefully going forward Apple sort out QC, ASAP.

Cracked 6 on third day

FYI, I received an iPhone 6 last Friday. Had a Ghost Armor screen protector installed (by Ghost Armor) on Sunday afternoon. They told me to not put it into a hard case for 24 hours. Monday afternoon, as I was putting into a case for the rear only, the glass shattered with the very little pressure needed to get it into the case.

Apple is replacing this phone free of charge, but it does worry me about the design.
