Correct

Can I just confirm with everyone, if I buy a Verizon phone at full price from Apple store, I can put in my T-mobile sim card and it will work right away? Is that right?

I am thinking of returning my 16GB one for a 64GB, but no Apple stores in my area the 64GB available, but everyone has 64GB Verizon.

I can confirm. I purchased full price Verizon Iphone 6 plus 128 gb Space Gray from Apple. Came home. Popped in my ATT sim. Worked perfectly. Then I popped in a Tmobile sim, again perfect. Then the Verizon sim that came with the phone, of course perfect. Its unlocked for ALL carriers except Sprint. The secret is that the Verizon full price bought from Apple directly is actually better than the Tmobile unlocked/sim free model. The Tmobile unlocked will only work with an activated Verizon sim. The Verizon unlocked phone works with Verizon even with a new activation because the IMEI is in the Verizon database.

On ATT my phone is fast as hell and gets all the ATT LTE bands perfectly.

Thanks all for replying.

U don't even have to restore. There's no activation needed from a Verizon account. It's literally swap and go. I didn't get the message from iTunes. Didn't need it.
I don't think you understand what I'm asking. I know it's swap and go and I know it doesn't have to be restored when you first get it. Let me clarify. I'm asking what happens when you restore, because eventually you will have to restore your phone if something goes wrong. All iPhones have to be activated after restores. Are you absolutely certain the AT&T SIM card will activate it if you have to restore it to fix a software problem or does it require a Verizon SIM card to activate if you have to restore? If the AT&T SIM card activates it, do you get the congratulations message in iTunes? Do you have a Verizon LTE iPhone that you are using AT&T on and have you ever restored it? I know you don't have to restore it to get it to accept the SIM, but sometimes you have to restore for software problems and I need to know what happens at that point if you are with AT&T.

You're making it more complicated than it needs to be. It doesn't matter if u restore. The Verizon iPhone 6 is gsm unlocked from the get go. It doesn't need any activation methods. A Verizon sim, art, tmobile etc it doesn't matter which or when. They'll all work interchangeably.

I've had a 5s and now a 6, Verizon. I use T-Mobile. I've restored multiple times. Didn't get the iTunes message. Don't need one.

Can anyone here on AT&T or T-Mobile who is using a Verizon iPhone 6 who has needed to restore to fix an iOS software problem confirm that the phone activated okay with their AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card. Thanks.

Geez. Yes it works man. A software restore won't undo an unlock. Please stop thinking it does.

Thanks. That answers my question. I just needed to make sure it would work after restoring in case I ever have to restore. All my iPhones have needed to activate after restores and that required a SIM card from the original carrier unless it was factory or IMEI-unlocked. After I had them unlocked by AT&T or on eBay, any SIM card could activate them, not just the original carrier's. Once they were unlocked, I got that popup in iTunes following each restore.

I definitely did not think it would lock it. I realize the phone is permanently unlocked. You misunderstood me. Every iPhone I've ever had to restore had to be activated afterwards and I thought the Verizon iPhone 6 might require a Verizon SIM to activate. All of my iPhones have been GSM-only, so I wasn't sure.

Hey!

So i don't live in the US, but my relative is coming from there so i've been waiting for the T-Mobile iPhone 6+ to get in stock in their closest Apple Retail store, but the chances are looking really slim. I thought i'd just ask em to buy the Verizon one instead since its also unlocked.

Now i just wanted to ask, how does it work? I just tell my relatives to go to the Apple Store, and ask them for a Verizon phone and offer to pay full price, and they'll let them have it no questions/contracts asked?

Exactly. That is what I did last week. I then popped my T-Mobile SIM card in and was good to go :)

GSM Phones aren't activated on GSM networks. SIM cards are. It has little to do with the phone, as long as the phone is compatible, just pop in an activated SIM. The SIM card contains all your subscriber information.

Exactly, this cannot be done online, has to be an in store full purchase. Do not let them try to activate, just take the sealed box out of the store. You will then have a better phone than the Tmobile unlock/sim free. I dont know why people are trying to get that phone when the Verizon option is the better unlocked choice. You can use the Verizon with every carrier except Sprint, the advantage of the Verizon unlocked phone is that you can also use with Verizon, the Tmobile one only works with a pre authorized Verizon sim. Resale on the Verizon unlocked phone will be higher than the Tmobile as more people are educated.

Confirm!!!

I returned my 16GB T-Mobile iPhone 6 plus and got a 64GB Verizon iPhone 6 Plus, I put my T-Mobile SIM card in, worked immediately.

Thanks CC, exactly what i wanted to know. Btw when you tell them you want it full price, they don't lock you to a verizon contract right? Since i don't live in the US, i'm not sure what goes on at the Apple store when you buy a iPhone from there and my relatives aren't very techy so i have to tell them the exact procedure.

Correct, when you buy it outright, they will not ask you about your account. All they will do is just process the payment and you are good to go.

Hello from Germany,

I'm using a 5s (T-Mobile-Version, contract-free) with different german / european sim-cards without any problems.
Now I'm looking for a iphone6, space grey, 16GB. All I read about, it'll work fine with german /european sim-cards.
The price in germany is about $882, so it's much cheaper to buy in the U.S.

The full price for a t-mobile version is $649, is it the same for the verizon-version ?

According to your writing, all verizon iphones are unlocked (full price and subsidized) ?

Would it be possible to buy the subsidized verizon version for $199 and just don't activate the verizon sim and put in my german sim ? Or won't they sell it without signing a contract directly ?

Or does verizon have a prepaid-sim coming with a subsidized iphone6, that I could use only during my visits to the U.S. ?

Next difficulty will be shipping to germany and german custom-fee. Apple does not ship to germany. Does verizon international shipping ?
Otherwise I'll have to wait until may 2015, when I'm returning to the U.S.

To answer all the questions above: You MUST be in person at an Apple store and purchase the Verizon IP6 FULL price. You tell them NOT to activate and take it home in the shrink wrapped box. Then pop in ANY SIM except Sprint. You cannot order and have it shipped unless you are a current Verizon customer.

I would just buy it outright if you are going to use it in Germany.

Apple does not ship internationally, and I don't think Verizon does. If you need the phone shipped to you, you will need to have a friend who lives in the US to ship it to you

Otherwise I'll have to wait until may 2015, when I'm returning to the U.S.

Worst case scenario if the Verizon phone gets turned on with the Verizon Sim still inside, what happens?

Also if they activate it, what happens?

Well I guess it depends. If you don't have a verizon account then it will probably give you an error and to contact verizon. But you can still remove the sim card and insert a GSM sim in it and should still work.

I did that at first and nothing happened. It tried to pull data from verizons network. I then ejected the SIM trey and put my tmobile SIM in, restarted the phone, and it worked.

There is no reason to be scared to turn the phone on with the verizon SIM still inside.

I actually turned the phone on to test each Sim I had, Verizon first, TMobile second, and the carrier I am using ATT. All worked perfectly. No fears.
Its unlocked and stays that way.

Awesome! Thanks guys!

What would happen if i get a contract with Verizon but later decide to connect it on H2O (At&t) and report the phone lost/stolen? Would i stillbe able to use it on H2O?
