Why? Is the current display too pixellated for you?

I'd rather they focus on lowering power consumption, improving color fidelity, deepening the blacks, and improving touch responsiveness.

You. You get my votes.

Apple will NEVER launch a 5inch or bigger smartphone. That would be far too big to deliver the experience Apple wants to give its customers. Anyone expecting this is going to be disappointed when iPhone 6 launches to the world.

With Steve Jobs in charge, I agree. But Tim Cook doesnt have any standards, hence iOS 7.

Never is a long time, do you wish to rethink that statement?

So another 5, 10, 1000, 10000 years an iPhone of 5" WILL NOT HAPPEN

That's what you are stating here as fact. Yes ?

Yep I stand by my views on this. Apple never compromises on experience to meet the needs of a tiny segment of the market. The iPhone is perfect because you can use it with one hand unlike those ridiculous Android phablets that are almost unusable they are so huge. Experience comes first with Apple.

Those Android owners will have to continue tolerating that OS if they want obscenely big screens I'm afraid. Apple never compromises on experience.

Never say never.

If not this year - it's entirely possible and probably that Apple will increase its screen size.

I don't see apple go with 5.5 inch iPhone.. it will completely destroy what Schiller said the entire time.. I hope we will get two sizes and i'll still prefer 4.7 any day over 5.5.

Tolerating? Hahahahaha. I tolerated the numerous workarounds I had to use on iOS to achieve basic tasks, Android just let's me do what I want. Its as easy to use as iOS but it also trusts you to do more advanced things if you want to.

Even 5.5in may well seem pathetically small by September. I bet Samsung are already working on 6in+ phones. Its a screen-size arms race and Tim Cook knows that Apple need to catch up!

In fact, analysts predict that by 2016, ~80% of smartphone screens will possibly be bigger than the iPad is today.

Apple needs to catch up to what, exactly? To a market that isn't there?

Analysts predict that over 90% of the consumers—who are not at all interested in phablets—will change their mind in two years and wish to carry a PHONE larger than the iPad Mini? The chance of that happening is the same as the chance of satchels replacing pockets in men's and women's garments.

There is absolutely no logic in that. None whatsoever.

At the same time Steve Jobs said there would never be a 7 inch iPad. Well 7.9 inch iPad Mini is close enough and it happened.

It will happen. But will it happen in 2014 or in 2015 as a 6s Model?

it's not pixelated by any means, but what if "Retina+" involves deepening the blacks and improving color fidelity?

touch responsiveness? the touch input is pretty damn responsive...

although I do hope power consumption is improved upon, thus making battery life last longer.

Just because you don't want a > 5 inch phone doesn't mean plenty of others don't, who are you to determine "the experience Apple wants to give its customers"

I, personally would buy a 5.5 inch iPhone, as would many others, so please stop trying to speak for Apple when in reality you know absolutely nothing about "the experience"

You mean full HD , like what every one else has been doing since 2013.. retina+ .. haha. It's like 1080p but DONE RIGHT! Lol..

Actually, since 2012. The Droid DNA was released in Nov 2012 and it's the first 1080p phone I can recall (although there might have been others).

If Apple uses an RGB matrix and offers accurate colors and saturation, then yes, it'll definitely be done better than a lot of the competiton.

Not to mention the first 1080p phones had terrible battery life, which suggests they were a bit ahead of their time, just like the first LTE phones. Being first at something is not always better.

Apple ... sorry but making 3 different sizes of one product, with 3 different colours or more is not a great idea.

Also scalling is a huge problem ...

Funny how Apple rumors about products work...

Just replace the last year's headlines created around the same time but increment the version # of the product.

2014 - iOS Device N expected to launch in <> 2014
2013 - iOS Device (N-1) expected to launch in <> 2013
2012 - iOS Device (N-2) expected to launch in <> 2012

I'm ready for the 5.5" iPhone and will sell my iPad.

Even a huge 5.5" phone is still not a replacement for an iPad.

They're two different experiences... IMO.

That makes no sense at all. Explain why people would want to use a phone so big you can't carry it with you in your pocket?

So the way I see it is that all analysts are throwing out various screen sizes in hopes at least one of them sticks. They can't just say 5.5" in case Apple decides to release a 4.7" screen.
