He's said the same stuff in another thread a few weeks ago. Apple have done exactly what he said they haven't done and won't do for the last few years.

He's either massively deluded, or a WUM.

Obviously it won't. It'll have a smaller battery, a lower resolution display and those two factors mean that it can get away with a slightly less powerful cpu/gpu and perhaps RAM as well. It will also have less physical space for components, so things that require a larger footprint, such as optical image stabilization for the camera will likely not be included.

So, physics, common sense and that Apple's pricing model would suggest this one to be $200 cheaper than the 5.5" model all point very heavily towards it not having the same innards as the larger models.

I was arguing against the ideas that those who want a smaller (4 inch) form factor are also the same people interested in the "C" type. So it would be smart from Apple to manufacture the 4 inch as a C type phone.

While countless people here said they are interested in an expensive 4 inch phone. It this would be true - it would be stupid from Apple to deny offering an expensive 4 inch phone to customers with money ready for that.

Why does everyone need 128 GB so badly? What are you people doing with your phones that needs THAT MUCH space?

Taking pictures of my vegetables.

If I recall, and it could change, but I think they do let you. I am sure they know all the iPhone 5 launch date buyers that stick to the 24 month upgrade are going to get the 6.

I'm just finishing up a 4 year contract in the middle of September. The carrier doesn't owe you the ability to order at an upgrade price before the contract is up.

I hate to say it (again!) but I doubt very much there will be any new Iphones or new hardware released this year at all.
Tim Cook keeps saying Apple has new hardware and new products but we never get to see them and then he just repeats himself. In other words he is just stalling for time. i think that there was going to be an Iphone and other products but things went wrong and are beyond Tim Cook's control and he now has no choice but to keep stalling.
I mean at this rate Apple will have to release several new products all at once which they do not do!
or at the best they will be released very close together which Apple do not also do due to taking the shine and attention away from previous product.
I do not see it and the only new products we will see this year is a slightly revamped Imac and Macbook Air which were so slight if you blinked you would have missed them. Oh and IOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite.
Hardly worth getting excited about
I hate to admit it but no new products at all this year till summer next year
There has been no change in schedule for iPhone's the last couple years. I bet you $100 Apple releases a new iPhone before next year. Anyone want to join in this bet?

I know lots of websites are all saying that the launch of the next Iphone is imminent. I however disagree. I think that no and I mean NO new hardware will be launched this year.
The reasons are as follows
Firstly due to the secrecy at Apple, they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can not openly talk about their upcoming products but on the other hand they can not stay silent. So they release a few rumours that they start themselves. Not all leaked photos are from employees smuggling them out. I believe that some are from Apple direct to start the hype mill.
All the leaks we have at the minute are far too early considering the earliest the Iphone would be released is october, perhaps September.
Even if none of the recent leaks are from Apple then it is still far too early.
next I think that it shows that there was a problem regarding the Iphones that are still not sorted so the Iphones(both the 4.7" and 5.5) are delayed.

Next there are far too many devices for Apple to launch all at the same time or at best very close together.

Apple does not launch major products at same time or close together as it takes the shine and attention away from each other

here is a list of the minimum devices still to be launched

Iphone 6 4.7"
Iphone 6 5.5"
Ipad air 2
Ipad Mini retina 2
Macbook Pro 13"
Macbook Pro 15"
Ipods(as they have not been updated in ages and sales are declining fast)
New products such as the iwatch or whatever Tim Cook keeps hinting at

So there is no way Apple will launch all at same time.
next Apple won't launch them within a week of each other which they will have to do(or at least very close together).
The firms that make all the Apple devices simply do not have enough time or manpower or capacity to produce the amounts of devices in the volumes needed by Apple in time to be launched.

I think that Tim Cook has lost control of the situation and simply now has no option but to stall and keep talking about new products that will not appear ever!

The earliest any new device will be launched will be next year during summer. That won't happen as we know summer is all about software

There is no evidence apart from rumours that Apple will be launching any new hardware including Iphones.

I am a fan of some Apple products but am tired of the problems and the false promise of products that do not exist and never will do.
Tim Cook is ruining apple and ruining the legacy that Steve Jobs built up.
Time for Tim Cook to be sacked and go while Apple are still able to maybe launch a half hearted product launch this year.
Oh and lets not forget that Tim Cook said that there would be great new products launched throughout 2014
So we are more than 6 months in to the year and still no products at all!

I hardly count a slight Macbook Air and slight Imac as new products.
If you blinked you would have missed them.

so where is the evidence for all these new products?
where are they?
They DO NOT EXIST!

Apple and Tim Cook has lost the plot as by the time they launch the any new Iphone Firms such as Samsung would have launched the Galaxy s8
and it will be a serious contender to the Iphone 6

Hardly a clever idea to wait and wait and wait and wait till your competitors launch phone after phone after phone till you finally get a grip and launch a new iphone.

Damn dude take a breath! I will bet you ANY AMOUNT of money that we will see new Iphones this year--Its Stupid to say that and any iphone person knows it will happen.......I would love a 128G phone

I like having lots of my pictures on my person and available to me all the times. When I see someone that I haven't seen in a while, it's nice to whip out my phone and have tons of pics of my kids stored on it.

Yeah, but over 20GB worth? No offence, but I don't think anyone wants to see ten thousand pics of your family.

I would suggest that if one finds the storage on their phone restrictive, maybe they can limit themselves to just their 500 or even 1000 most recent pics. The rest can be stored on a computer/hard drive, or even automatically backed up to a cloud service like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive. The latter option still allows you to pull them up at will on your phone, unless you have no data plan or wi-fi.

So switch to a better plan? You do realize many plans offer much more than 2gb data for probably less than what you are paying.

"Switch to a better plan", do you know if that's even an available option on his carrier/location? Will you be footing the bill if it's more expensive than what he's currently paying?

Some of the one-track minded responses here are what give Apple users a bad name. You people must think that everything revolves solely around your needs.

I always find it odd when a consumer such as yourself have been brainwashed by corporate America where you find it perfectly acceptable to get nickel and dimed every month, to the point where you're actually advocating it over criticizing your favorite company (Apple) for not offering up enough storage.

I'd love to know how you feel you personally benefit from this arrangement, over keeping your montly plan as low as possible and simply having more storage on your phone instead? My guess is, you don't benefit at all, and are speaking before thinking like many other Apple enthusiast.

The biggest thing to remember when deciding on an iPhone and it's gigabyte size is to
Not forget that Apple allocates some of the gigabyte for the native apps and to allow for over the air updates. The larger GB size you get the more they allocate. It's not much. I have a74 gig and I think they use 4-8. On my iPad Air 128 gig they allocated about 12 gigs. Trust me I was shocked and a little frustrated bit it makes sense. So just an FYI. for the ppl who didn't know
Apple will look to launch the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 on Friday, September 19, according to a new report from Chinese web portal Tencent (Google Translate, via GforGames) citing inside sources. The news comes after German carrier Deutsche Telekom was reported to be informing customers of a similar release date for the device.

The report also notes that Apple will launch 32GB and 64GB capacities of the phone for 5,288 yuan ($846) and 6,288 yuan ($1008), indicating that Apple may launch the iPhone 6 without a 16GB model. Notably, 5,288 yuan is the current price for the 16GB iPhone 5s in China, while the 32GB iPhone 5s is listed at 6,088 yuan.

A September launch would be consistent with the past two iPhone launches, as Apple also typically launches new products on a Friday. A report from Bloomberg earlier this week also claimed that Apple may launch the larger 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 and the 4.7-inch version simultaneously, with previous reports indicating that issues with battery and display technology would hold up the larger device's launch.

In addition to a larger display, the iPhone 6 is expected to feature a thinner design, a faster A8 processor, and more. The iPhone 6 is also expected to feature an improved camera, with the larger 5.5-inch version exclusively utilizing optical image stabilization and the smaller device featuring an advanced lens module.

I don't get how people can defend Apple's storage policy. Like when the cheaper (not cheap) 8GB iPhone 5C came out and people were like: but it's enough for some people... Sure, but it's still $749 (average wage in my country is $926) for the 8GB and $820 for the 16GB. Knowing that Apple's margins on the flash memory are huge and how they always scrimp on storage with all their products, it really seems like a slap in the face when they try to tell you that $749 8GB phone with older tech is "cheap".
I get it that people buy 16GB options and are happy. But first off, they buy it because it's the cheapest and they wouldn't be less happy with 32GB. Apple's (brand) positioning itself as a premium brand and yet they act cheap when it comes the storage. The weirdest example of this policy is the new Mac Pro. The high end model which costs $5746 ($4000 in the US) comes with 256GB hard drive (SSD). Why, why, why is that? You pay crazy amount of money for a professional machine and you get a USB stick amount of space... That's called: greed. I understand paying premium for the processor, graphics, thunderbolt, PCie, but storage? On a $5000 machine? Seriously?

This comment is bizarre. With all the leaks and speculation and sites like Bloomberg jumping on the bandwagon, you think that Apple's going to rest on their laurels and not release a phone until next year?

06.29.2007 - original iPhone
07.11.2008 - iPhone 3G
06.19.2009 - iPhone 3Gs
06.24.2010 - iPhone 4
10.14.2011 - iPhone 4s
09.21.2012 - iPhone 5
09.20.2013 - iPhone 5s

Seven years of releases and you think they're going to break that pattern now? The *only* time they've ever broken pattern was when they moved from summer to fall, which was probably a combination of Steve Jobs' ill health and a desire to capitalise on the 4th quarter. (Damn, I always forget he died the day after the keynote. Makes me wonder how aware he was and whether he was determined to see the 4s announced.)

I am not a betting person but I would bet against you on this.

Also, I get why people compare about storage, but the answer is and always has been the same: Apple wants you to buy into their cloud services. Also the comments about 'omg why do you need so much space?!?!' are annoying. People use their phones differently! We should all know this by now. It's like asking someone why they need a minivan when you only need a tiny car.

64 bit address space

Those of you begging for 128GB...why? You are going to run into the same issue. My iPhoto library is 73GB. I have 6.3TB in my iTunes library. It'd be nice if Apple could make a RAID 10 8TB model. Sure my phone won't be as thin but I'm sure Apple can compress the 8TB down to 1".

On a serious note, the iPhone 6 should be starting at 32GB by now. And go up to 256GB.

With a 64 bit processor you can address up to 17,179,860,000 GB of space so even 256GB sounds small #

I registered just to ask this:

Why do you need a mobile phone with 128GB of space? I got 16GB and im not getting over 12GB in total.
2-3GB Spotify, then tons of photos, and games.

I can say it for myself..photos, videos and games+music!
not to mention the odd "6.46 GB of others" that I can't seem to figure out what's it is that's taking up those spaces.

I know lots of websites are all saying that the launch of the next Iphone is imminent. I however disagree. I think that no and I mean NO new hardware will be launched this year.
The reasons are as follows

Your reasons make no sense what so ever.

here is a list of the minimum devices still to be launched

Iphone 6 4.7"
Iphone 6 5.5"
Ipad air 2
Ipad Mini retina 2
Macbook Pro 13"
Macbook Pro 15"

New products such as the iwatch or whatever Tim Cook keeps hinting at

The iPhones will be launched in September, the iPads in October, or if it is a really minor spec bump as opposed to anything more substantial, they could be introduced along the iPhones as well. Maybe using the 5.5" iPhone to tie the two product lines together, who knows.

The MacBooks will be done as a silent update, there's nothing remarkable about those.

And the iWatch, if it even exists, could easily be bundled together with the iPhone, especially if there are some synergies between the products.

----------

While countless people here said they are interested in an expensive 4 inch phone. It this would be true - it would be stupid from Apple to deny offering an expensive 4 inch phone to customers with money ready for that.

No more stupid that having denied a bigger screen for years from the hundreds of millions of people who are eagerly buying them heads over heels.

FINALLY! :D

16GB is just a joke these days. 32GB should be the minimum.

I'll be getting an iPhone 6 5.5" 32GB if:

1. both 4.7/5.5 models are the same price
2. a 32gb iphone 6 is = to a 16gb 5S price at £549.

iphone 6 5.5" 32gb at £549 and i'm in!!
