i am one of those that will never pay the premium price for extra storage, hope the 6 will come with 16gb

S Especially with those people who want the smaller form factor, don't need much memory or are on a tight budget. :) I'm really surprised there haven't been more rumors about a continued 4" model, there has to be something and I don't think they will continue to sell the 5S - the case is too expensive for a mid-tier product.

iPhone 6C: $99 16GB/$149 32GB. 4" screen, A7, 1GB RAM, color cases, NFC?.
iPhone 6: $199 32GB/$249 64GB. 4.7" screen, A8, 1GB RAM, camera lens updates, NFC.
iPhone 6X: $299 32GB/$349 64GB/$399 128GB. 5.5" screen, A8, 2GB RAM?, OIS, NFC.

Hello ? Ton of people said here they are interested in a flagship premium 4 inch screen iphone. Not a "C" model. We don't care about a "C" type 4 inch iphone. The 4 inch screen iphone should have the same specs or better than the 4.7 or 5.5 iphone.

I registered just to ask this:

Why do you need a mobile phone with 128GB of space? I got 16GB and im not getting over 12GB in total.
2-3GB Spotify, then tons of photos, and games.

Say what? I'm the exact opposite. I jumped from 16 to 32 when the 4 came out and never looked back. I guess it's all personal preference, and with cloud storage getting bigger and bigger you could argue that you don't need much stored on ur device. But for me, I'm hoping the 6 offers 32, 64, 128, with the 32 base model still being $199. If so, I'll be jumping all over a 64gig, or maybe even 128. Even my dad, who i thought 16g would serve him well forever is saying he's outta space on his 16.

No IPHONE 6!

I hate to say it (again!) but I doubt very much there will be any new Iphones or new hardware released this year at all.
Tim Cook keeps saying Apple has new hardware and new products but we never get to see them and then he just repeats himself. In other words he is just stalling for time. i think that there was going to be an Iphone and other products but things went wrong and are beyond Tim Cook's control and he now has no choice but to keep stalling.
I mean at this rate Apple will have to release several new products all at once which they do not do!
or at the best they will be released very close together which Apple do not also do due to taking the shine and attention away from previous product.
I do not see it and the only new products we will see this year is a slightly revamped Imac and Macbook Air which were so slight if you blinked you would have missed them. Oh and IOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite.
Hardly worth getting excited about
I hate to admit it but no new products at all this year till summer next year

 Some people prefer local storage, some prefer cloud storage. I don't want my photos and videos stored on the cloud. They're private, not public for me. I don't want anyone else to claim ownership over them just because I use their service. I also don't want to have to continually delete photos and videos because I'm running out of space. I've deleted videos in the past to make room, which I have really regretted due to the limited local storage, and you can't always make room if you're travelling without a laptop. So yes I will go for 64GB definitely, and consider 128gb if the price isn't exorbitant, which I'm sure it will be.

hmmm. Porn?

Tell me this is a joke.

It would have cost Apple nothing to go to 32 GB two generations ago. I really don't think people realize just how cheap flash is these days.

If the price of 16GB and 32GB was the same, then Apple would've done it. Clearly you don't work in finance/operations to understand cost.

Even if its $1 more, times 90 million phones, that's 90 million in lost revenue. I'm sure Apple performed a model/analysis to see how many more iPhones would be sold if they did pay the $1 to get to 32GB and they probably calculated that not enough additional phones would be sold to offset the loss of revenue.

Are you kidding? Have you never heard about product cycles. You haven't heard anything from Apple about a new iPhone because they are not introduced until September. This is the most far fetched opinion I've seen yet on these boards. Surely it is joke by OP.

NO, but it is the only option to get the latest technology with the smallest screen/phone size.

I always said, I don't care if they make a bigger phone, as long as they keep the current size as an option. I am pretty pissed that I am forced to get a bigger phone if all I care about is the newest technology.

Well, I guess I have to suck it up and get the bigger screen, even if I would prefer to keep the current size - I will survive..

All three of you are speaking up right now, lmao.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. This has to be a joke.

Haha I was actually thinking of downgrading to 16GB. If they keep the same price for the 4.7-inch 32GB I'll get it.

I assume the pricing will be something like this?

iPhone 5c - 4"
16GB - $0

iPhone 5s - 4"
16GB - $99

iPhone 6 - 4.7"
32GB - $199
64GB - $299

iPhone 6 - 5.5"
32GB - $399
64GB - $499

I think I am going to quote this to save it around... I will check back with you in September when we have new phones. Not to mention other times for other releases. I am pretty confident we will have new Apple products this year. :apple:

64GB - $499

If the new entry price point for 32GB is $199, and the rumor is a $100 up charge on the 5.5” model (which may/not include OIS, etc.), then I’d say the 6/5.5” would be 32/64 $299/$399. :)

The 4 inch screen iphone should have the same specs or better than the 4.7 or 5.5 iphone.

Obviously it won't. It'll have a smaller battery, a lower resolution display and those two factors mean that it can get away with a slightly less powerful cpu/gpu and perhaps RAM as well. It will also have less physical space for components, so things that require a larger footprint, such as optical image stabilization for the camera will likely not be included.

So, physics, common sense and that Apple's pricing model would suggest this one to be $200 cheaper than the 5.5" model all point very heavily towards it not having the same innards as the larger models.

The problem is that until recently, everyone was used to 2 year contracts and subsidized pricing. As a result, phone companies jacked up the price of their phones, knowing that the cell company would cover the majority of the cost, with customers covering the remaining amount. This is one of the main reasons that the iPhone costs so much off contract. Apple set that price high, knowing that cell companies would pick up a majority of the tab.

Now that US providers are moving toward a model that the rest of the world shares, consumers aren't going to be all too happy.

That $200 (on contract) phone now costs $650 (what?). Sure they've "reduced" the price of the plans, but not really, you still end up paying full price for the phone over time.

The risk is now all on the consumer. What happens if your phone is lost/stolen/broken, you're out that $650 and now you need to pony up another $650. This is the way it is with anything you buy, I get it, but the safety net people are used to is gone.

I'm not saying that it should be one way or another, but people are used to thinking of phones as 2 year devices. If phones are going to be sold full price from now on, I hope that forces phone manufacturers to lower the prices of their device. $650 is a lot for someone to spend for such a small device.

Sure you can sell the thing after two years, but that's really an unknown because who knows what market conditions will be like in two years. You also have to take care of a device that you put in pockets, on tables, handle on a daily basis for two year. That's pretty hard to do to keep it flawless. Also, tech gets devalued all the time. If the iPhone 6 starts at 32 GB, the resale value of all the 5s devices with 16 GB take a hit.

I never understood though the argument that now "people can do what they want". You always could do what you wanted to when you are talking about phones at full price. The only thing is that you couldn't leave for 2 years if you got a subsidized phone. If I want the new one after a year, I could always sell the one I got and get the new one at full price. However, the savings I realized was in the cost of that initial subsidized phone, and then again 2 years later.

I believe that the majority of people now are stable in their cell phone companies. 10-15 years ago, every time I was off contract I was looking for the best deal with a new provider, but I haven't done that for over 8 years now. No one I know switches providers because the contract is up. Most people I know switch because they are consolidating their families to be in a shared plan of some sort, but once that happens they stick with what they've got. So in essence, you're in a "contract" but it doesn't matter, you're not going anywhere anyways, so getting a massive discount every two years on your handset is a big win.

I really do hope as companies move to full price devices all the time, the prices for these devices go down. If I had to spend $650 to get an iPhone, I probably wouldn't.
You make good points and I agree if the pricing becomes in line with google pricing for their phones which on avg is about $400. I would be open to that.

Even 64GB not enough

In 2007, Apple released the 160GB iPod Classic. That device was basically just for music - the screen wasn't sufficient for watching movies. The iPhone has all the abilities of that device, plus it can take pictures and videos, and play movies, and store topo maps, and... How is it possible that Apple thinks even 64GB is enough?! For those who say "get things from the cloud when you need them", have you traveled internationally recently, where 120MB of Internet usage costs $30? Also, perhaps I'm unusual, but I have thousands of CDs, tapes and records that I've ripped. And I long for the day that I can have local Google Maps info stored locally for all of California, so I won't have dead zones while I'm driving on remote roads - which I can do today on my 2005 car's nav system. Perhaps a phone with minimal storage is enough for some people, but I've been waiting in vain for more memory on my iPhone. Yes, I suppose I am a "power user". But I'm sure I'm not alone! At least Apple provided 128GB iPad options with the iPad Air!

I hate to say it (again!) but I doubt very much there will be any new Iphones or new hardware released this year at all.

Every time I end up reading a post like this, I hate myself (and you) for taking the time to read it.

Unfortunately 90% of any posts on a front page article seem to be tripe like this.

The bottom is the minimum size needed for the Home/TouchID button, the top is symmetrical to the bottom. Apple is committed to the TouchID implementation in the HB for at least a few generations. Simple..

Not so fast. There is still space between the button and the glass and bottom and the button could be a bit smaller. There is no need to make it symmetrical.

I was planning to in any event, but this is welcome news that I will stay at my price point (assuming this rumor holds true)

Makes sense to drop to 2 storage options with the introduction of 2 screen sizes.

So iPhone 6 will come in 32GB and 64GB variants, and 4.7" and 5.5" sizes.

4.7" @ $199/$299
5.5" @ $299/$399

This works with the iPad scheme. You can get more storage or larger screen for the same price.

And a quick check of vzw.com...

I'm in the same boat. I'll be pretty sad if we can't pre-order with the subsidized price because it's before the eligibility date.

I have an iPhone 5S and a Note 3. Unlike the iPhone, which I eagerly anticipate the new one (really hoping for 128GB), I'm not so fired up about the Note 4 because the Note 3 is already so crammed with stuff, there's not much they can do to a Note 4 to make it worth an upgrade.

Its got the screen size, the rez (1920 x 1080 is full HD and higher rez doesn't do much for me), wireless AC, NFC, Bluetooth 4 - all the latest specs, plus IR blaster, 3GB of RAM. I mean, what more could they cram in there?

Fingerprint scanner? Eh, don't use the one on the iPhone. 4GB RAM? Couldn't hurt I guess. Heartbeat monitor? Maybe for workout nuts. 64GB internal storage? Maybe that would be worth it.

A Note 4 just isn't as compelling to me, when compared to what the Note 3 already has.

True enough, I guess we'll just have to see. Maybe once the note 4 comes out, i'll go and grab the note 3 at a discount :D

Not so fast. There is still space between the button and the glass and bottom and the button could be a bit smaller. There is no need to make it symmetrical.

Well, from a manufacturing/tolerance standpoint, as well as the underlying, physical button mechanism, you can’t sandwich the display right up [near] flush to the button or the button to the edge of the bezel - it’s just basic engineering principles.

I agree there’s not a _requirement_ to make the upper/lower bezels symmetrical, but it’s certainly by design (which we can agree is subjective): aesthetics, and a better, call it “more balanced” feel when using the phone in landscape mode.

Personally, I kind of like it. :)
