24.6GB Photos & Camera
23.2GB Music

Not much room for everything else. Currently only 76MB free.

Why do you need to store all those photos on your iPhone? Music I can almost understand, but all those photos should be downloaded to your computer.

Why not just dump them in a OneDrive/Dropbox account? At least if you need to access certain photos when you are not at home you can with cloud storage solutions.

Love how some of you are freaking out about an iPhone costing $1000+ when most of you live in a country with a minimum wage of $8+.
Where I live (Hungary) minimal wage is $2.5, and still the 16GB iPhone 5S costs around $980. That is the ridicule, not the $1000 for Americans.

Furthermore, if you'd have read the article, it doesn't say a word about the price in the USA, it's talking about the price in China where the phone also costs more than in the US.

That's a lot of media you got stored on your device. I personally transfer all videos /photos taken in external hard drive. Just curious, why wouldn't you use free cloud storage services like box etc? Wouldn't you lose all your media files (minus music) if the phone was lost or damaged?

Please apple, give us a 128gb version :(
I want to store all my breaking bad and walking dead seasons and also my whole mp3 collection,
Samsung's owner got micro sd card slot for this, we don't... -_-

Why do you need to store seasons on your phone? Watch episode once, delete, Simple.

Your phone is not meant to be used like a NAS. You are using it wrong.

The only reason I didn't buy a 5s is the lack of the 128gb version... :(
and I think iPhone should be at 128gb for the price of a 64gb version!
memory is getting cheaper and cheaper...

Or people can use their phones however they like? You don't get to decide the right and wrong ways to use the storage space on the iPhone.

All the people saying 'I've been using a 16GB iPhone with no problem, why do you need 128GB?'

I've had a 64GB iPhone 4S, 5 and 5S, and I'm regularly deleting things because I run out of space. I travel for a living and need as much space as possible. My plan is to get the 5.5" and mophie's battery pack + storage case when they update it for that phone. I need 128GB. Really do.

I agree. That just seems silly, especially since it's highly unlikely anyone would actually LOOK at them. Put them in OneDrive/Dropbox/iCloud/whatever, and put them on a computer or external drive somewhere.

The other bit I don't understand is why people think a separate app is preferable to looking something up on the web. Apps seem to be an open invitation for the app maker/distributor to see everything on your phone. So having 110 apps seems over the top.

Obviously someone can use their phone however they want (at least for now!). But I don't understand why you'd want to have so much information on a phone when there are simple, reliable solutions out there.

I need 128GB. Really do.

For what? I travel a lot for work and have half of my 16 GB still free.

Not trying to be snarky, I just don't understand why you'd put so much on a phone.

64GB version of the 5.5" with OIS please. Goodbye to the clunky iPad, since I rather work on my MBA.

Why is the bezel on top and bottom not getting smaller on the bigger phones. I don't want a bigger phone. More screen estate, sure. But not the phone to be bigger.

The bottom is the minimum size needed for the Home/TouchID button, the top is symmetrical to the bottom. Apple is committed to the TouchID implementation in the HB for at least a few generations. Simple.

No he's not, 64GB is nothing these days, if you take 1080p videos you run out of space very fast. Plus most hi-end games are 1GB+ in size.

128GB should be an option.

Yeah, I was looking at a few games on the iPad just the other day, and several are 750MB+, a few are well over a GB. Shoot a few videos, keep some music on the device and it runs out quick. In fact, our 32GB iPad is a PITA, the next one will be 64GB ... I’m a little more conservative with my phone (32GB), but I’d never go less.

64 gig for $299 would be awesome. My 32gig just doesn't cut it anymore.

I realize it’s all speculation, but +if+ $199 is a 32GB price point for the 4.7", using Apple’s old capacity increments, that would certainly suggest $299 for a 64GB models.

Absolutely, you know, I think most folks on here understand they can backup, dump media to their computer, store them in a cloud service, etc., but that’s not always available. You’re on vacation, at your kid’s recital, you’re trying to capture a special moment with 1080p video, and you don’t have a way to backup existing data - that’s the point you go, “Oh wow, I need more storage”.

It's really about time Apple did this. 32GB at the entry-level price point is right for some many reasons, including providing additional space for photos and media, but it isn't the main reason. Photos and Media are moving to the cloud, but Apps are not... and Apps are getting bigger.

When developers start adding all this mini-apps to their packages for the extensions in iOS 8, apps are going to get even larger. That's why this storage increase is important.

I registered just to ask this:

Why do you need a mobile phone with 128GB of space? I got 16GB and im not getting over 12GB in total.
2-3GB Spotify, then tons of photos, and games.

Some people feel they need to have every song they have ever purchased/ripped/stolen in their pockets 24x7, without relying on cloud services. Apparently they expect to be sitting in an airplane in eponymous mode, and suddenly have a spontaneous urge to hear a specific song among their collection of 100K, said song of which they have not listened to... ever? It could be a 23 hour trip traversing two separate hemisphere crossings, and you know, if you have to wait that long to listen to a song you REALLY NEED TO HEAR RIGHT NOW, it would be very, very unsatisfactory.

Of course there are other reasons to want large capacity; but we've been hearing complaints about this one since the iPod was invented.

To answer your questions

1: If a 60" TV fits it is better to watch movies then on a 42", if you are a gamer it is worse.
2: To carry more people, but it isn't always needed.
3: Here I'm stuck, a 5,5 inch is larger making it difficult to use one handed or in some cases put in your pocket. But the bigger screen makes it more fun to game / watch movies etc at the same time if you want to watch a movie, use a iPad or a Notebook.
4: It better
5: I don't know
6: I don't know.
7: Everyday I think: " Why do I have a PC or Macbook when I have a iPad"

When watching a movie, the screen size should be relative to the distance you are sitting away from. It should almost max out your field of vision. However, complete darkness can substitute some of that, last thing your eyes should see is a painting on the all left of your tv to distract you.

Or people can use their phones however they like? You don't get to decide the right and wrong ways to use the storage space on the iPhone.

Yes, I do get to decide. Pursuant to section AXV348676I17T.456RF of the Global Smartphone Usage Code, I command you not to use your phone storage in an unauthorized manner. People's Security Control is en route to your address as we speak, Citizen.
:D

Seriously, no one is "deciding" what you can or can't do, so your characterization is unjustified. People do, however, have the right to argue with, deride, question or criticize your choices; and they are exercising that right.

In the Old Days, Apple had a much, much better handle on leaks. Apple did not shy from using lawyers, threatening suppliers, harassing journalists, and deployment of other techniques.

It was only twelve years ago when Steve Jobs went ballistic over a leak by Time magazine of the sunflower PowerPC G4 iMac; a leak which preceded the product announcement by less than 48 hours.

Things are different now.

Does Apple now ignore leaks, or even encourage leaks when the supply of a soon-to-be-replaced model is low?

Does Apple care anymore?

Of course they can use it how they like, but some people don't use them properly.

Using your phone as a permanent storage solution is just daft.

For me it's not a permanent solution,but I like having the option. I'm 4gb shy of my 64gb 5S being filled up,so I'd love a 128gb.
Throughout my day I'm at work where I have a hour lunch and watch a movie or TV show. My signal isn't the best for streaming. I also go to the gym 90 minutes a day. My mood switches by the minute as far as what I like to watch or listen too. Plus I buy a lot of music! My library at home is easily over 500gb. Most of witch I've converted my old cd collection to MP3 format.
On minute it's rock, the next is classical, the next rap,I guess I just like being able to listen or watch whatever, whenever.

I've found the App Store to be a blessing. I've got a lot of apps, plus more that may come along my way that I may discover today and I'd love to have the storage to do so.

I know I don't need to justify my usage on my own phone, just sharing with you how I use mine and how a 128gb would benefit me. So another 100.00 up front for a larger capacity phone is a great choice for me. Pay 100.00 up front,no monthly service or fee is great. Lol... I haven't even mentioned photos......I'll save that for another time :)
