"Surprisingly, the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 appears to be much less malleable than the larger iPhone 6 Plus"

Why would that be surprising?

Because the iPhone 6 is larger than the iPhone 5/5S, and people said the iPhone 5/5S also bends.

So we're gonna have "drop" and "bend" tests for future phones the thinner they get? lol.. Give me a break.. Get a damn case for your phone and call it a day.

Exactly why is this a surprise?

A long sheet of plastic is easier to bend than a short one. A long sheet of glass is easier to bend than a short one. A long sheet of metal is easier to bend than a short one. A long sheet of wood is easier to bend than a short one. Etc.

So, naturally, made from the same materials a big phone is easier to bend than a small one.

I think the "surprise" comment came from the fact that the iPhone 6 is slightly thinner than the 6 plus which the thought was it could have countered the leverage.

I had a 6 plus and a 6. I decided the 6 plus was just too big for me... so I took that one back, and I really love the 6. I know that everyone is saying, "oh if you try to break something, it breaks," and that is certainly the game everyone on the internet is playing now, but the fact remains that the early benders from this past weekend... those were just ordinary people who had it in their pockets.

How do you know? Because they said so?

Surprisingly? Macrumors, which stick do you think is easier to bend?

That guy is awesome. Like he said, slightly thicker, bigger battery, no camera sticking out, no bandgate! Just do it Apple!

That clown is anything but awesome. He just another self proclaimed expert.

Does he really have the ego to believe he has thought of anything Apple has not considered and weighed carefully?

He is just another jackass essentially saying "Apple would finally be successful if they only listened to me!"

let's see his smartphone design that will sell 10 million over a weekend.

attention is good even if its bad. nice work apple.

now for all the stupid people.....

if you drop it, it WILL break.
if you bend it, it WILL bend...

so what! don't do those things and there will be nothing to worry about.

even better put a freaking case on it.....

That's an interesting, but incredulous theory……
Maybe a pre-emptive strike?, as in they realized at a late 'hour' the larger one's propensity to bend more easily, when it was too late to go back to the drawing board, and decided a little 'cautionary' publicity was better than replacing
~20 Million (or whatever) 6+ iPhones later on.

As for the rest, yeah a little common sense is in order here, and if we treat these devices like the delicate electronic instruments they are, I doubt they'll get bent.

Looks like the ability to bend the phone is directly proportional to how much anyone would want it ;)

The guy doing these bend "tests" is an idiot.

How is bending with with your hands tell us anything? Where are the metrics?

If your going to test something at least show us a real life example, ie someone bumping into with the phone in your pocket, or doing some type of exercises in tight pants.

His tests proven nothing and looks like there is no science behind them at all.

this is what I don't get why people don't understand....we can't be that stupid to not know this.....please humanity prove me wrong....

It makes me feel better about myself, really. I know that as long as there are idiots out there who can't use logic, I should always be able to find employment and excel at my job and life.

Glass breaks

So we're gonna have "drop" and "bend" tests for future phones the thinner they get? lol.. Give me a break.. Get s damn case for your phone and call it a day.

The glass screen breaks when you drop it sometimes. I do know quite a few people that have bent iPhone's 4's and 5's. Including some people that have cracked screens from sitting down.

Should Apple be forced to make shatter proof glass next? There goes my sapphire screen on my future 6S Plus.

I admit that maybe for the 6S's they can reinforce the sides possibly?
But I just don't see it a problem under normal usage.:apple::apple::apple:

All true. But it's a delicious desert to fools.

This guy know nothing about mechanics.... Even a high school student knows how to explain that....

this is hilarious. I have just received my iPhone 6 plus. As a regular iPad user, I find this phone to be cramped and unusable as a tablet. Far, far too small. it is better than the four year old Optimus T it is replacing, but time will tell if it gets much use. so far, meh. I do not care about hyper thin, so I put it in a case....but this thing is so small...my iPad mini has not been replaced, that is certain.

On another recent thread I was attacked for saying the quality of articles and the writers on this site has taken a rapid and huge downturn....

I wish this article had just been published at the time, as a 'you were saying!?'.

AppleCare +? I'd go with regular AppleCare. It's more durable, surprisingly.

I actually bought AppleCare+ but exchanged it for regular AppleCare because the proof of purchase that they sent me was too big to fit in my file bin as it was on legal size paper.

I love the mentality of this forum.

The dude posting the videos showing the iPhone 6+ bending is called an "idiot" and a "liar". Claiming the entire problem is "bullsh.t".

But then MKHKB or whatever his name is posts a video saying "Yeah, it bends. But you have to put a lot of force into it."

And everyone here rewards him with praise.

lolololololol... how can one be biased and the other be rational? Couldn't it be that they're both biased? Or perhaps even, neither biased?

Who knows. All I know is the iPhone 6+ bends if you bend it. The other phones don't bend if you bend them. There are videos online that back that up. Not just one video either.

So, Apple messed up. Isn't the first time, won't be the last.

Use this knowledge to make the correct purchase.

The first iphone 6 + was already bend, because of that it was easier to bend it more.

They need to do the test again with a new iphone 6 + that has no bend at all before the test.
