So, I have a problem. I have a 6s (not plus) and I thought Apple phones are supposed to be "Super premium" phones from $650 to $1000, and everything feels great, nice and premium. But I have one problem, the screen. One of the things I do most on my smartphone, is watch YouTube videos and movies/shows, and the low res screen has pretty much ruined it, not even mentioning the dynamic contrast that blows out every color on the screen. Text doesn't look smooth, small pictures look like smudges, and every picture I take with the super good camera doesn't look good on the 720p viewfinder when I show it to friends. I've had an iPhone for about 5 years, and the screen has barely gotten any better, and I don't want to have to get a 5.5 inch screen for it to be 1080p. I'm just getting tired of this, and I think I'm gonna switch to an android phone, who have been using Quad HD AMOLED screens for years now.

Just go away. There is nothing wrong with the screen on these phones, or any phones made since the iPhone 4. Just go away.

I'm not trying to sound rude, but I did make some pretty good points.

720p on a screen of the size that the iPhone 6/6s has is fairly good--sure, it's not amazing or great, but it's quite good.

Well, in that case it sounds like you are off to the world of Android.

YouTube content is going to be optimised for streaming to your device. How does it looks with local 1080p media in the video app?

Yeah, but the Galaxy S6 or S7 has a Quad HD screen. If that's a little over board, the Galaxy S4 from 3 years ago had a 1080p screen. The Galaxy S3 had a 720p screen, like the 6 and 6s and it's 4 years old. I just think Apple needs to upgrade the screens on the non plus models.

There's something to be said for specs for the sake of specs, but, sure, Apple can do better, and hopefully with iPhone 7 they will improve things in that respect.

I'm not sure, but when I record 1080p videos, it doesn't look too good...

I stopped reading at this point. I'm not an particular fan of the iPhone, but to say the screen is low resolution is ridiculous.

Doesn't look too good where? In what way?

It's just not very detailed, or sharp. You have to zoom in just to see how good the camera is.

It's my opinion that anything over 400 PPI is overkill. I've been using a 6 Plus for over a year now and as far as detail goes, not far off the S7 and S7 Edge. Now color, contrast, that's a different story but that is going to change in a year or two for iPhones. The SE should at least have a 1334 X 750 panel and the 6s should at least have a 1920 X 1080 panel. The 6 Plus is fine where it is at. Just my opinion on this topic.

I totally agree with you. It's on of the main reasons why I've switched from a 6 to the Galaxy S6. I couldn't live with watching videos in 720p after having paid premium price, and was disappointed in the camera's low light capabilities as well. I didn't regret making the switch, quite the contrary.

I think my problem is that I HAD a Galaxy S6 and switched to the iPhone 6s. You just can't go back to a 720p LCD after having a Quad HD Super AMOLED screen.

I remember back in 2010 when the iPhone 4's retina display was announced and the magical shock I had when I couldn't distinguish the pixels.

And now that particular screen PPI is decidedly low res.

Op, why are you not dumping iPhone for past 5 years low quality display suffering for Android Quad HD AMOLED?
What make you suffer for 5 years, or 1,825 days, if Android is better?
Specially if "One of the things I do most on my smartphone, is watch YouTube videos and movies/shows".

It is like eating xxxx for years, and still complain it and eating same thing years after years.
You do have a choice to jump ship, hope you know.

Oh lawd...please do us ALL a favor...SELL your iPhone and get a Samsung device...I don't understand why people come on here and (b) about stuff like this...no one is forcing you to keep your " low res screen" phone.

Actually if your going to complain about one thing about Apple then I would say the iPhone has a pretty low res screen.

I'm not saying it's horrible but they definitely need to step up the screen. The iPhone 6s Plus looks good but it's at 1080p. Even still the nexus 6p and samsungs phones look way better nowadays.

Granted this alone wouldn't make me switch but yes Apple needs to step it up.

Well since I JUST upgraded to a 6s, I thought the screen may be better than my old 5s. That's why I'm upset, because I was excited for a much better device, and the screen just isn't.

I guess the colors are a little better, but the ppi is the same. So it's not really any sharper side by side.

Sure, the PPI can be better, although it's not exactly bad or anything. That said, aside from colors and brightness/contrast (if I recall correctly) being better, the resolution also increased. So doesn't that make things better?

A little... Not a big difference, since the ppi is the same.

Well, if PPI is pretty much the only/main measure of what's better, then I guess there wouldn't be much of a difference, which would be known just from the specs really.
