'iPhone 6s' Logic Board Suggests 16GB Base Model and Updated NFC Hardware

The 16gb base model is an obvious money grab by Cook and Apple to spur upsells to the 64gb model, but so long as it works, they'll keep doing it.

It's called retail sales. Every successful retail sales company does exactly the same thing.

But with bigger Apps sizes and 4K and other new features.
16GB Is simply not enough.
It's so 2009
And it was a lot for the iPhone 4 in June 2010
But for a phone that will be coming in September 2015 is pretty stupid.

I always wonder why people think the date is a significant argument. As long as Apple sells millions of 16GB phones, and have millions of people decide to spend the $100 extra for the 64GB phone, they will continue doing just that no matter what year it is.

I made the 'Apple is entitled to make as much profit as they want' argument. If their current business model is not one that current or potential customers agree with, Apple will need to make necessary changes or take a huge personal and financial hit.

Apple doesn't owe people a 32 BG base model, just because people think they should because they are rich already, or because company X is providing a better base model.

If one isn't happy with the offering of a particular Apple product, don't buy the product. It is that simple. Complaining about not having a base model that one wouldn't have used to begin with makes no logical sense.

Complaining about people complaining on a messageboard makes no logical sense ! ;)

hahaha , apple take money again ,,,

16-64-128 = people spend extra 100$ dollar to get enough storage ,

i don't use apple pay , it so embrarras , i have been try gas station , walmart , sometime registery understand sometime they dont know and act like what the heck apple pay ,,,,,,, what a joke ,,,

It is because we do not care how little or how much a profit a company makes. We evaluate how much value the product brings to US, and if the price is right we buy it. It is because we care LESS about Apple than you do, we are able to do so.

I don't care how much they make. I merely pointed out that they are being cheap on the storage. If they weren't so tight with upgrades like these, more people would like them and would probably buy more of their products. (with the money they saved by not having these insane storage prices) In the long run, they'd have more users and make more money. But if they keep this up, many will switch to Android, Windows etc.

Beating a dead horse here I know, but 16GBs in 2015 is just pathetic and sad. It wreaks of bargain bin parts Apple, like you're trying to burn through your overstocked 16GB chips and pass off the costs to the consumers.

Make the entry level 32GBs and just eat the costs, or put those 16GB chips in a new iPhone 6C that doesn't do 4k and what not. The idea that 32GBs would take sales away from the 64GB iPhone is absurd. Most people have adopted the idea that they want either the 1st 2nd or 3rd model in terms of storage. That was once 16, 32, and 64 and now it should be 32, 64, and 128.

Matter of fact, just lower the price by $100 if you plan on selling the 16GB model . . . . . seriously.

I wonder what this new NFC hardware get me. Apple Pay seems to work okay, they just need more places to accept it.
How much RAM will it come with?

what a joke

2009 - 3G S - VGA video recording (640 by 480) - 16GB base storage

2015 - 6s - 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) - 16GB base storage

Well, you don't need to buy the entry model. Phil Schiller was just right about this point.

My biggest regret is buying the 16GB iPhone. Please make 32 the entry level!

Try 64GB, considering a 64GB SanDisk Ultra micro SD is only £22, this is ridiculous gouging... but then, who's surprised!

16 GB, Phil Schiller can't be serious anymore :D
At least offer us 1 TB of space on iCloud or something, not an amount so little that you HAVE to pay extras.
And thinking about it, the difference between 16 GB or 32 GB must be like $5 for them, just shut up and put it in Apple.

Apple should make the entry level 32GB but there's one reason the probably won't: they don't want a bunch of downgrades from 64GB owners. Neil Cybart who runs the Apple centric site Above Avalon claims that keeping the entry level storage at 16Gb is saving Apple $3B.

Is that another way of saying they are making more money from people upgrading from 16gb to 64gb?

Because Apple is now what MS used to be. One big, clunky and most of all greedy corporation.
I gave up on iOS devices 3 years ago. Not coming back anymore since there is really no reason to come back.

LOL! Thanks for sharing.

Cloud base services are useless when out of cell range, which is likely if you're in the great outdoors capturing the nice 4k video of nature. Also when out of the country you don't want to be accessing too much stuff online with expensive data charges.

I agree the base should be 32 or even 64 as there is bugger all difference in price for a phone costing around $1000 retail. I got the 64Gb 5s but really wish they had a 128 model.

So making optical image stabilization available only in the larger 6 Plus wasn't bad enough, now we have to choose between features based on storage capacity?

If we wanted feature fragmentation on the most recent generation of phone offerings, we would've looked at Androids.

Except with android the phones that drop features also drop in price, android phones in the iPhone 6 bracket are fully feature packed, even with expandable storage in some. Apple doesn't do that. They like their profits way too much.

It's fine if Apple want to sell a 16GB iPhone and then market it as one for those that use cloud services, but it's not exactly clever to then sell the phone model on that same ideology on the worldwide market as not all countries offer cheap unlimited data, and those that pay a lot for unlimited data will be entitled to the high end storage iPhone for free anyway.

They should be sensible and offer 32GB in some markets and 16GB in others, but that would cost money, and Apple doesn't like to spend money.
