I bought it direct from Apple online. LOL. So it's certainly BNIB. I honestly believe it's either a QC issue or a fundamental problem with the aluminium being tough but prone to chipping at the edges.
Haven't you heard of chipgate?

In reality, it looks like just the anodizing is chipping off, not the actual aluminum, aluminum doesn't just chip like that.

If it was a problem with the aluminum yours would not be the only one! That is common sense!

Understand?

You do realize someone has to be the first to report the problem and then down the road more people can say they have the same issue.

That is common sense, just cause you haven't heard it from anyone else doesn't mean he's not right.

Aluminium on my 6s Plus has been chipping on its own especially at the edges. It's appearing at the bottom of my phone all along the antenna band and now it's appearing at the top. It's also appearing around my pentalobe screw holes, lightning port and headphone jack.

I seriously think it's a manufacturing issue. Some problem with the 7000 series aluminium that's causing the edges of the aluminium to be very very easily chipped. I used my phone with a cover since Day 1 and yet this happened. I used my 6 Plus pretty much naked for the whole year and yet it hasn't chipped even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.

Do any of you have this issue?

Do you live near the Sea with high humid? I don't see any other iphone 6s like that

Wow, I'm shocked at all of the unjustified responses that are questioning the OP. His communications are clear and distinct, and he does not appear as a troll. You guys and gals need to lay-off. You're attacking someone for no reason whatsoever.

OP, thank you for bringing this up and asking if anyone else has experienced this yet.

That pink anodizing must be weak.

Still strange that that happened inside a case. What case did you use?

Looks looks like salt water corrosion

I live in Singapore. Humid it definitely is. Like 80-90% humidity level. But I don't live near the sea. If this is sea water corrosion, my previous 6 Plus would have had this issue too.

Technician at service centre claims it's micro chippings under the microscope and says it's not corrosion. My water damage indicator has also been checked and it turned out fine.

Added: to be honest, my previous 6 plus actually got into contact with seawater just 3 days after I got it. I kind of submerged the bottom of it in seawater until just before the water touches the home button. But yet after 1 year only blemish was around the screw holes because I tried opening it myself once. No other chipping was visible

I use a hybrid kind of case. The sides are clear silicon while the back is clear acrylic. It's a clone of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid.

Sound like you use some cheap Chinese no brand case, it could be the plastic of that case somehow has effect with the iphone case.

You talk with Apple and see if they can give you a replacement, if not then...next time don't use cheap China case with expensive iphone.

I use cheap iphone case with my 5/5s and briefly with my 6 plus too. All these are series 6000 aluminium. And non had issues. And just when Apple changed to 7000 series, my cheap China cases are giving me issues? I think it's more of the aluminium than the case.

I believe to scratch this new 7000 series aluminium I need something of the same hardness for that to happen. And I think silicon/acrylic can't possibly be harder than aluminium? So it's pretty common sense it can't be the cover. And I ran my fingers over the spot of the cover where it touches the chipped areas, no harsh or sharp edges.

All cheap case made from total material and process, we don't know how this china cheap case has chemical reaction with your phone, but very likely it is the case problem.

Don't have the issue, but mine is space grey - if that matters. Looks like a trip to the Genius Bar is in order.

Thats what it looks like to me, cheap knockoff case happened to have some sort of chemical reaction on the phone. Glad OP is able to get it replaced.

Right, what ever you say. Sorry but not believing the "first one" theory, but if you wish too, that is OK!

I remember last year when I got the iPhone 6, I had long scratches right under and above the antenna lines. That was right out of the box. No idea why the iPhone came that way but I returned it and the Apple store agreed it looked like it happened during manufacturing.

I am going out on a limb and call this nonsense. This looks like last year's model, look at the regulatory markings on the back. I thought the 2015 model is void of that.

i think the regulatory markings vary by region. I think I remember seeing the markings on the ifixit teardown from Australia.

If it came this way then it was not new and someone sold you a used phone. Where did you buy it? Does the serial number match the one on the box?

I just do not see this getting buy Apple's QC
Apples QC is pretty garbage though. The antenna gate got by, the 5 chipping got by, the bending of the 6+ got by and millions of yellow screens, loose home buttons get by.
