Apple, get it together! There was a iPhone 6 plus shortage last year as well. Apple knows that a lot of people (especially in Asia markets) like their phablets. They have the money to produce enough to keep up with the demand.

But they like to have shortages because it makes the iPhone even more desirable.

Can everyone just chill out? This just means people who preordered won't get theirs until late October. Everything will be fine though, no gate issue or anything

Yup. Marketing 101. Create a tightening of supply of your highest margin product...to create a frenzy and a sense of exclusiveness for those who have one. The apple lust machine in full force.
I thought marketing 101 was "never sell no".

Well since I have to wait until mid October to get my plus if there are any issues I guess I can cancel and order it later. I don't think Apple would be playing a supply game like this and make preorder people edgy about getting a defective phone.

Where are people getting production issues from. There isn't enough parts.. its not that they are having phones with backlight leaking. Unless i am reading it wrong it seems they are missing pieces.

I was going to wait till launch day and hit the tmobile store in the mall on launch day just as I did last year and pick up my 128gb. No one thinks to go to the mall when tmobile opens early on launch day. maybe you can have the same luck with att?

I stood outside a T-Mobile (standalone) and was the first in line when the iPhone 6 came out last year. They had 0 units in stock when they opened. Took everyone's names down and called later when they had something. They ended up getting like two units in of the 6 base model and none of the 6+ as their whole launch day inventory. So going to a T-Mobile store isn't any guarantee you'll get an actual unit in person even if you are person #1 in line.

I feel like the safest way is going to be to go to the Apple store on launch day and get there EARLY. Or just wait a month and a half to two months for general availability.

Pre-ordering for delivery is dangerous too. I ended up doing that when they had no in store stock and I ended up waiting MONTHS for the delivery (even though they made it sound like it would be next day shipping... what they didn't mention was next day shipping from when they eventually get stock, which was months).

Was unable to cancel once ordered too, so basically had money tied up and then had to deal with the hassle of returning by mail, which took another couple of months to get my money back. BIG NIGHTMARE.

Don't worry, there ain't gonna be any issues

When I heard this news I went to check on my 6s+ order status on verizonwireless.com to see if the est. delivery date had changed. I know there was one there before for 9/25, but now I don't see it. Then, I discovered I had ordered a 64gb when I assumed I had ordered 128gb! Aargh. So had vzw cancel it and re-order as 128gb, now with an est. delivery date of 10/14. :rolleyes:

I still have my 9/25 8am reservation appointment at Apple though...

Glad I ordered mine when I did... and now I'm considering a second one just because. I guess their marketing works on me lol.

let's see...

Ming's predictions 4 months before introduction --> https://www.macrumors.com/2015/05/12/kgi-iphone-6s-2015-predicitions/

(1) Force Touch will be the biggest upgraded selling point, but also one of the main bottlenecks of the supply chain. Force Touch can enhance user experience due to more input methods and support of handwritten signatures, which is beneficial for expanding in the commercial market;

(2) Screen will remain at 4.7 and 5.5 inches, with resolution the same as existing models. There will be no new 4-inch model;

(3) There will be an additional casing color, rose gold, matching the rose gold Apple Watch Edition;

(4) The camera will have a pixel upgrade, likely to 12 MP;

(5) One microphone will be added near the speaker to enhance voice quality;

(6) The A9 processor with upgraded 2GB LPDDR4 will be adopted;

(7) The bending issue will be improved by using different casing materials and internal mechanical design changes;

(8) If drop test issues can be resolved, the 5.5-inch model will have a limited number of units with sapphire cover lens;

(9) The recognition rate of Touch ID will be improved further in a bid to promote Apple Pay;

(10) Gesture control support; and

?(11) It’s expected that mass production will start in mid-to-late August. Total shipments will be 80-90mn in 2015, with a 2:1 ratio of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.

Thanks - basically the guy has mole in the supply chain

Last year - he was even better - predicting in April not only screen sizes but resolution for each phone and entire line of products in the fall

I still think some people who ordered the plus within the first hour of pre-order will get it on the 25th. I don't think all of them are post poned until october. I think some, but doesn't something always come out about supply constraints right after a release... i feel all this happens every years.

Last year - I seem to recall folks getting their orders sooner than expected - maybe we will be surprised by Apple again.

Big electronics fan, and huge Apple fan, but not a fan of the 6S or 6S+

Apple basically upped the megapixels on the camera, added 3D touch, added an extra GB of RAM, and then did the usual upgraded processor swap. After a whole year and this is all they could come up with? I get Apple's "major" upgrades are every other year, but still, this upgrade is as bad as the 4S was compared to the 4.

P.S I'm willing to bet more people are getting this phone on day one than previous years due to decreased demand.
Apple has a commercial for you about how nothing has changed - except everything.

I realize that people struggle with the concept that, if the outside appearance of the phone hasn't changed, then it isn't a new phone. I'm not sure why people struggle with that.

Perhaps consider the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 that was improved by removing the SD card slot and the removable battery option?

Just because something isn't deemed useful to you, doesn't mean that it isn't innovation or improvement.

Off the top of my head, 3D touch, improved rear camera at 12 MP with 4K video, improved front camera at 5 MP and screen backlighting flash, 'Hey Siri' always on, significant advancements in the A series microprocessor (remember that Apple designs their own CPU/GPU and that is no mundane task and is the most advanced chip in a smartphone - period), double the RAM, reinforced 7000 series aluminum chassis, Live Photos that maintain backwards compatibility with the Jpeg file format, faster Touch ID, Faster WiFi, Faster LTE, etc. etc. etc.

But yeah, I guess they didn't really do anything... :(
