Cue the conspiracy theories...

Every year there are a lot of people who don't know the first thing about production issues. While I smile at King Ming Jing's notes, he does seem to have good contacts in Asia.

Since he is the one giving out that info and not Apple I believe the facts. (Apple actually only tells about production issues when pressed to the wall, like when they couldn't get a product white or it is in the news and can't be denied)

When a company realizes what is going on they first have to analyze that there is an issue which cannot be fixed easily. Then they have to talk to suppliers, check lead times etc..

It's not that suppliers have extra capacity and components in their desk drawers. They make products for more customers than just Apple.

So, before anybody posts dumb conspiracies educate yourself a little and use your brain.

Apple will sell all they make, no need to create an artificial shortage (Which btw does what?) or talk about a messed up introduction.

The fact that the lead times are pretty good right now doesn't mean things aren't selling well. It just means that Apple has added capacity and was probably more optimistic in planning and started procuring components way ahead.

Again, they will sell all they make. It is the best smartphone there is.

Great, now I have a feeling I might have to return my 6s Plus...
So they're having issues. Could just be yield. Relax. Didn,t see anything in the article that said bad units used or shipped.

Someone tried pulling similar bull on the watch about the haptic engine. Haven't seen squat about it since the watch came out.

The sky is not falling.

So basically those of us who managed to secure a 6s Plus will be sending it straight back as the backlight will be stuffed...

In other news, can we all chip in and put a hit out on Ming-Chi Kuo so that future product releases are full of anticipation like they used to be.
Wrong.

ForceTouch looks like a pretty neat feature, but does this feature affects the multi-touch experience the one i have with the iPhone 4S?

Just making sure, Apple will resolve the backlight issue before they ship these out, right?

Big electronics fan, and huge Apple fan, but not a fan of the 6S or 6S+

Apple basically upped the megapixels on the camera, added 3D touch, added an extra GB of RAM, and then did the usual upgraded processor swap. After a whole year and this is all they could come up with? I get Apple's "major" upgrades are every other year, but still, this upgrade is as bad as the 4S was compared to the 4.

P.S I'm willing to bet more people are getting this phone on day one than previous years due to decreased demand.

So all they did was upgrade the camera (and introduce a better sensor tech), the CPU, the GPU, the motion co-processor, the RAM (capacity and speed), added an entire new display sub-system with a new UI paradigm ... and upgraded the body material, the wireless (WiFi and LTE), the FT camera to 5MP (including tech in the display for a flash), changed/refined the Touch ID sensor/accuracy, a new taptic system and even built it in a new color.

Hmm - not good I was planning to pre order the iPhone 6 Plus today at an AT&T store.

I was going to wait till launch day and hit the tmobile store in the mall on launch day just as I did last year and pick up my 128gb. No one thinks to go to the mall when tmobile opens early on launch day. maybe you can have the same luck with att?

Sure... I believe this. It has nothing to do with artificially creating scarcity and making consumers preorder like crazy to secure their phone... This doesn't sound familiar at all.
Then they would've announced this shortage before the preorder, not few days after. Everything is a marketing to some people.

You and I both know 1/2 of that is marketing. Better sensor tech? I bet the camera still isn't all that impressive in low light conditions. I'm willing to bet the camera on the 6S and 6S+ are only marginally better. The CPU & GPU are always upgraded, same with the motion co-processor. Upgrading the body material? That's not technology, and neither is the color Pink, it's simply manufacturing different materials. Upgrading the wireless technology is moot seeing as the carrier's speed can barely reach 60 Mbps down and most people have WiFi in the 25-75 MB/s range. "changed/refined touch ID sensor and accuracy," even though it works fine as it is, the average consumer won't see a difference. 3D touch is the only thing that's noticeable to the consumer, and it's not even something that'll make people fall out of their chair to go out and get the phone for.

No, No.... This is all wrong. The truth is that the delays is because switching from gold to rose gold means flushing the lines and sanitizing the nozzles. You have no idea how many phones were rejected in the QA step due to non-uniformity of color. It was a serious mess.

What— you didn't expect us to go through a new iPhone without some sort of production issue/shortage/constraints report, did you?

You've been living under a rock? S versions are always minor tweaks.
