Using Low battery mode did make a difference in my case. It doesn't shutdown while the mode is activated.

Well, sign me up as well. Both my daughter and I have iPhone 6s's and have the same problems. Her's typically will shut off around 35% battery life, and mine will intermittently go down around 20%. Apparently this has being going on for my daughter for about 2 months, but she didn't tell me about it until literally one week after the warrantee expired. We talked to the people at the Verizon store (nearest Apple store is 2+ hours away) and they assured us a software patch (10.1.1) would fix it. I went ahead and did the update, but we still have the same problems.

That's what I hate about this situation the most, being kept in the dark. I've wasted so much time on trying to fix it over the last five weeks or so and yet there's no official word about what's going on.

And every once in a while someone relays Apple Support/Store employee saying the next software update is going to fix it. 10.1 hasn't, 10.1.1 hasn't either. The latest word (from Apple Store Montreal if I remember) is that 10.1.2 is going to fix it. Somehow I doubt there is even going to be a 10.1.2...

Don't know if this could be related somehow but my 6s battery will drain to zero percent while shutoff. Turn off with 50 or 60 percent on the meter and 3 days later battery is zero and won't even come on till I plug it in. Then as soon as I plug it in it says 35% on the meter.

Yes. Same issue.

Apple wants you to buy a battery case or a 7.

According to Apple Support Chat: This seems to be a common concern, please don’t worry, Apple’s engineers are already working on this. Please just wait for the next update for this to get fixed. I do apologize for the inconvenience, I’m sure everything will be fine with the next update release.

I was told the same thing but I'm doubtful as it's still not fixed on the latest 10.2 beta.

Just as an update - I have had no shutdowns since having my iPhone 6S swapped out last Saturday. Restored from a backup and running 10.2 beta 2/3. Battery life has been terrific. I think if it was a software issue the problem would have happened again by now. I suggest if you have the issue go to the nearest Apple Store. Based on my own experience I'd say Apple are aware of the issue and are just swapping phones out for the most part.

I've recently read that users in the Chinese market are having a similar problem and the Chinese consumer protection group have asked Apple to investigate and respond within 10 days.

Just read that too....

I've had the issue for the last few months. Shutdown 35%

Recently @ 13%. Finally booked in @ the Genius Bar & was told that it looked like a software issue.

Her solution was to wipe the phone & setup as new.

Ran down the battery to 6% after then crashes.

Disappointing....

I have exactly same issue of my 6s 64GB.
i try with: Setup as new devioce, DFU mode, Calibrating the Battery, i have the Samsung A9 model,
nothing the problem is still persist.
But when i put the battery in Low Power Mode (yellow mode).
Evrithing is goun as well.
For me is a sofware problem
I hope that 10.1 will solve this

Part 2
After two weeks in the Apple reseller in Greece they told me that the iphone went to Apple Netherlands and there was a change to a brand new with TSMC chip
I think Apple CHANGING silently the models with Samsung chip with new with TSMC chip

Hi! I am from Athens,Greece too.
Did you go to iStorm or to iSystem?
iSystem insists that it is a software issue, and it is going to be fixed...
I haven't taken it to an iStorm store.
P.S. I have the Samsung processor, as well, unfortunately...
P.P.S. Another guy from Greece uploaded this video:

For the last couple of days my iPhone 6s has been shutting off at fairly high percentages (14% yesterday, 18% today). When I try to turn it back on, sometimes it will give me the low battery symbol, but other times it will turn back on. However, even if it does, it shuts off again very quickly.

Even before this started happening, I suspected something might be wrong with the battery because I would only average about 6 hours of battery life with normal usage, while a lot of people on this forum seem to be getting 7-8 hours. Additionally, I've had some weird problems with charging. Sometimes my phone would seem to be charging very slowly, so I would reset the phone and when it turned back on, it would be at a higher percentage than before (around 10% more). There doesn't seem to be any major problem with the discharging rate though.

Just a bit of background in case it might be relevant: When I first got my 6s, I restored from a backup of my old iPhone, but was encountering a bug with Siri so I restored as new. Even with this restore, like I mentioned before, my battery life has been somewhat suspect. Do you guys think that I have a problem with the battery, or should I just restore as new again? I'm somewhat reluctant because I have some saved game data that I don't want to lose, but if this is just a firmware glitch, I'll have to do it.

Somebody already posted on here that same thing is happening with TSMC chip.

Just as an update - I have had no shutdowns since having my iPhone 6S swapped out last Saturday.

I will add that I have not had any more shutdowns either since my 6s was swapped out for a white-box replacement a couple weeks ago. It was like pulling teeth to get them to swap it out, but the new one has been perfect.

I'm curious to hear what Apple will say officially about this problem.

I'm very appreciative that I stumbled upon this Forum. My son's iPhone 6s 64GB started having these issues just the other day, after updating to 10.1.1. It has the Samsung chip, but I'm not sure if that matters or not. Before landing here I tried the calibration method, restoring phone and using an iCloud backup, restoring from iTunes and using iTunes backup, and finally putting phone in DFU mode and restoring from iTunes and setting up as new. Nothing worked. I called Apple today and as everyone has stated after she ran a diagnostics she stated battery health showed good, but she did see many unusual shutdowns. Because I've already tried everything she would have suggested she set me up a Genius Bar appointment for Friday Nov 18th. Since the phone is still under warranty (Until 12/22) she said she would put in in the notes that the phone needed to be replaced. I signed up just to say Thank You. It's nice to know I'm not alone and all the replies have eased my frustration a little. :)

So to follow up I had something come up and had to cancel my Genius Bar appointment for Friday so I decided to call Verizon on Monday instead, since the 6s was still under warranty. I told the support tech about my support call with Apple. Apparently Verizon can look up the information I provided to Apple too (I did not know this). He still had me run another diagnostic for their records he noted the same thing battery showing good, but several abrupt shutdowns. So they sent a certified like new replacement (according to Apple Warranty check its a newer phone). I received it on Tuesday. I updated to 10.1.1, and tested it before handing it over to my son. I spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday watching videos and playing games and so far no unexpected shutdowns. The phone has made it all the way to 1% twice without issue. So it took a phone replacement, but I think my issue is resolved.

I went to pick up my phone this morning. They have changed the battery and logic board, this was out of warranty and free, which is good. The downside is that since the repair was done in China my new serial number is Chinese which means I cannot use FaceTime Audio, everywhere it says “WLAN” instead of “Wi-Fi” and it will make a mandatory warning sound when battery goes below 20% and 10%. Meh. I’ll use it as an excuse to see my mom more often.

At least I really, really hope that the shutdown issue goes away. I will give it a go for a few days and then report back. I hope this is the end of story for me since I already had to go to that Apple Store three times.

And by the way
a) my new logic board has a TSMC manufactured chip, the old one had Samsung
b) I never experienced a shutdown on my loaner iPhone 6 even though I used it the same way as my 6S
