Carrier iPhone 7/7+ AT&T Pre-Order Thread

All of my friends who pre-ordered through AT&T and had an October 12 delivery date is now receiving their devices tomorrow. In total 12 friends with 20 iPhone orders are getting theirs earlier.

Verizon on the other hand still shows the 12th of October for me. =/

I ordered one of these (for my dad who doesn't need any more storage than that). Mine is preparing for shipment with an expected ship date of 10/11-10/18. Of course, I didn't place my order until Tuesday so I'm not expecting a launch day delivery.

If I had to bet, I'd say that's the order in which they were shipped from China. Just a guess...

Don't know how much I buy that. I see back ordered for the past 6 hours and nothing has changed yet. Although what's strange is that everyone is seeing September 23-30, mine is September 22-29.

Very true.. Who knows how they're doing it. Are they just picking names off the order list and attaching iPhones to them or does it go by region? The latest I've gotten shipment notification for a previous preorder was on a Thursday afternoon before launch day. Here's hoping we hear something later this afternoon/evening!

I appreciate your advice! I have discounts through AT&T, so got the Otterbox for like $35 or a couple less, and the Zagg 50% off at $17.50. Trust me - I look for the best deal before I straight up purchase something that's going to cost a bit! 😉

Yeah I have no idea. Last year I got my email at 2:30pm EST. I am an hour and a half away from that same window. I don't have much hope left since it was late last year to begin with.

off topic a little bit but related.

AT&T announced the $650 trade in credit a few hours after we all preordered. are we not eligible for this ?

Gawd, I'd hate to be the AT&T store rep who pulled the short straw and has to answer phones today. Must be a nightmare.

I've ordered a new phone on launch day since the iPhone 4. It's always like this, or pretty much like this. They never have enough phones, the website is always overwhelmed, order status is always wonky, and people are always mad. It's just how it is. The iPhone is hugely popular and they can only make so many at once. They also can't box them up too far ahead of time until the OS is done and can be loaded (which is like a week before release date).

I've learned to let go of the idea that I must have my new phone on launch day. Heck, this year AT&T wouldn't even accept my order until 2 am PST (probably because our account has a FAN discount linked to my wife's employer). I'm quoted 2nd half of October for shipping. I have no idea whether it will ship early, on time, or late. Probably late, but manufacturing might get caught up.

I'd love to have my phone tomorrow, but my later ship date is almost a relief because I know I'm not getting it tomorrow so I have no reason to obsess about it.

I am just excited to be back in the iOS family. I have been using Android for many years now but can't wait to be back using an iPhone. I got tired of the not existent updates and the poor low-light camera quality (most recent phone is a Note 4). 🙂

I really like that case. Probably would have went with that, but it was out of stock on Speck's website as well as Amazon. Ended up going with a Speck Presidio Grip case instead. I have a Speck Inked case on my 6s+. I love the look and it offers great protection. Scratches may show up a little more than they would on the plastic cases, but a great case IMO.

If it's any consolation - my order status had been "Preparing to ship" every day since order was placed/confirmed. This morning my text order status said backordered. About an hour later, I got a shipment notification!

Their systems have been so messed up and on overload that I think they're going crazy. I wouldn't take any status as exact. If anything, a change in status seems to be a good thing, from what I've seen through other posts!
I've also seen that your card is charged once the phone has been shipped, so that might mean yours is on its way! They legally can't charge you if you're not getting your product. 🙂

I ordered 5 minutes before you, Matte 256 +, 9/23-9/30. Not a word in 5 days after preparing to ship email. ATT is the worst. They charged my card 5 days ago.

Having skimmed the other carrier threads and Apple thread, I have some "maybe" bad news for those who ordered a 7P Jet Black. It appears no one anywhere is getting tracking numbers for these. As someone who preordered the 6P SB 128GB 2 years ago and waited 2 weeks after launch, I think we found this year's unicorn.

I'm a structural bridge engineer and I occasionally do bridge inspections. I was doing an inspection last summer and accidentally dropped my Apple leather case clad iPhone 6 down a concrete bridge embankment. It tumbled/bounced down the sloped embankment for about 20 feet and then landed on the sidewalk below face down. The phone was fine. Case had some scuffs but I'm still using it to this day. I'd say it's a pretty awesome case.

I'll post on topic now: my 7+ Black 128GB still is "Preparing to ship" with 9/23-9/30 delivery dates. Ordered 9/9 @ 3:49 ET (although I actually ordered a bit before that - was on the site at 3 ET, but of course ran into a multitude of issues).

Did you notice anything with the Matte Black 256GB Plus models?

I think preparing to ship has replaced the "processing" step.

I had an instance where on internet explorer my order was back ordered while the on chrome it had a preparing to ship status.

I'll be honest I didn't notice anything for that combination but I also wasn't specifically looking for it. Sorry. I do believe I saw a few 7P Matte Black shipping though. I just can't remember their size.
