Let's take a step back.
FedEx and UPS have no idea how many packages they will ship on any particular day and yet the manage to get it done.
Both companies have been very aware of this yearly event and have staffed up for it. This effort include additional planes, people and trucks.
AT&T does not assign your phone to you until it hits the US. Labels are printed based on delivery acceptance cut off time which is extended today. So someone in Texas like me will be one of the last ones served. The box is scanned and the IMEI is assigned to you. Then it is packaged and my label is put on and the box gets sent to the carrier. UPS, USPS, FedEx and every other carrier is ready for this. There is too much money involved. Apple does this every year and the carrier has a lot to lose by causing pissed off customers. So does AT&T. They screw this up and customer will buy from Apple direct next time and potentially switch carriers.
I hope my black 7+ 256 arrives tomorrow. I placed my order at 2:53:53 ET on the 9th. I lived up to my end of the bargain and I expect AT&T to do the same. AT&T has a legit beef if they were not allocated any black 7+ 256 phones and I need to live with it. I should have gone to apple direct. If people that ordered after me, which I assume is the vast majority, receive the same phone, I have a beef and I should have ordered from apple.
Either way, I will stand by AT&T for 24 more hours--failing delivery, not, I will cancel and keep my 6S+ with IOS10.
I hope 100% of us get our phones tomorrow--looking forward to hearing reviews.
Good luck!
