New here, but mine changed to back ordered sometime over the last hour. Hopefully a good sign. IP7+ Matt black 128.
Honestly I would rather see that change then preparing for shipment. I think preparing for shipment is atts way of saying back ordered. And when they say back ordered they mean shipped.

Shipped! Got notification this morning that it was back ordered and now shipped today through UPS. Should get here Monday. 7+ 128gb MB. Ordered 12:21pm 9/9 at a local Att store

Where are the 256GB models!

I ordered through AT&T because I needed to do a trade-in on the Next plan. Is it possible to do that when ordering through Apple? If so, I'll order through Apple next year. I don't think that AT&T did anything "wrong" with the preorders (other than the issue with who ordered when) but Apple will fulfill their own orders as much as possible first.

Always lots of angry people on launch day. I understand the frustration. One guy on apple thread got a ups driver fired over a delivery using a camera. Not sure I could do that over a phone.

I'll say it again though, we're angry because people who did not stay up to buttcrack of dawn walked into an ATT store next afternoon and already have them shipped. More than just 1 fluke too, a few now. Us "pre-orders" are still preparing to ship.

If it was someone ahead of me/us in time ordered, I'd have no gripe at all. That's how it should be- first order in first filled. It's a completely unfair system right now though to people who did stay up.

ATT should be doing this correctly. There is not a lot holding people to carriers these days with prices rather similar. They have already pissed of a LOT of people in the past week now because first their site had scheduled maintenance that night and now this shipping debacle.
 
Got this earlier than expected, now if my phone could just get here earlier than expected! Good looking case, like the carbon fiber touch and the feel of the material.

I'm on the hunt for a JB 7 128GB, I've yet to place an order online as I'm not sure if a local AT&T store here in Houston may get it in stock sooner. Is that possible or is online always the way to go?
 
So I think I spoke with the most moronic At&t rep ever. I called to see if I could change my jet black to the matte black thinking I may get it sooner seeing as how the jet black inventory is so low. Well the dumbass cancelled my order by accident. My order was placed at 3:24 am on 9/9. She kept saying that she was so sorry and that I should go to the store because they have them and began selling them in stores Thursday. I had to inform her that nobody has the 7+ in the stores and they went on sale Friday, not Thursday. She then said she'd be happy to resubmit my order but the delivery dates wouldn't be until mid October for the matte, or late November for the jet black. I wanted to punch her.

Question does Apple assign the phones with the phone numbers or is that something that AT&T does? The reason I ask is that maybe AT&T doesn't have control in what order the phones are shipped out in.

ATT, that's why everyone is pissed at ATT. They all go through ATT's Dallas warehouse and ATT is arbitrarily choosing who to send them out to or not.
 
I canceled my wife's JB 7+ 128 and re-ordered a silver 7+ 128.
She doesn't really care about the color and she'll get it at least a month faster.

I originally ordered a JB 7 128GB and my shipping date was Oct. 14-21. I cancelled that order yesterday and re-ordered a Silver 7 256GB and it's already shipped out and is expected to be delivered Monday. The color wasn't that big a deal to me either.

Are you serious, I placed the same phone order on 9/9 at 3:04 AM ET, and no movement, seriously getting pissed now.

Wow really? That sucks majorly. AT&T is really screwing up big time here.

After much thought, I decided to cancel my order. Here are my reasons:
1. The whole point of preordering at 3am (or midnight depending on your time zone) is to receive the device near launch day. ATT has botched this whole process by projecting October dates with no subsequent updates as to the status of the order.
2. Some have received their phones in the mail with the status still showing "preparing to ship." I don't have the kind of schedule where I can randomly be at home to sign for a package. And if they are sending via Fed Ex without requiring a signature, that's just asking for a package to get stolen with no way to cover your ass.
3. I believe with my OCD, I'm going to hate the ease with which the jet black model scratches. Even though I would have it in a case, I would still be worrying about the micro-scratches for when you have to take it out from time to time. So I'm going to reorder in matte back more than likely.
4. I need to control the way I purchase this next time around; walking into an apple store and buying it instead of waiting at the mercy of AT&T.
