I got it through the Apple year upgrade reserve link, but when I got there they brought the phone out and asked what I wanted to do. I asked, and had the option to do anything I wanted, with any carrier, up to and including buying the phone outright.

Oh nice!! If they offer me the option, I'll do Next. But if not, I'll be fine with IUP!
 
The Apple Reserve site says to check back after 12 am. Does that mean pacific time or local store time? Also is that just a general guideline to check the next day, or do all store's update inventories in the system at that time?
 
If I try to order through Apple online I only get the option to pay outright and not buy it with Next even though I've paid up to the point I can trade my phone in on Next through AT&T - does anyone know if that is a problem if you go to an Apple store? Would I be able to do Next in store? I'm thinking of switching up my order and dropping my AT&T JB order but none of the local stores have any of the option combo's I would be interested in at the moment.

You can they give you 10 days too trade the phone into att

It specifically says you can buy it outright or do the carrier subsidation in the confirmation email I just got.

Can't believe I missed that at first! I was able to reserve a Matte Black 7 plus, 128gb at the Apple store and picked it up less than an hour later. I was in and out in 10 mins. Ended up grabbing a Verizon model and buying outright (all 4 bands gives me more options when it comes time to sell next year).

Promptly cancelled my ATT order and received that confirmation.

Everything is syncing now, and I'm up and running with my existing ATT SIM!

Small update guys! I knew calling wouldn't give any new information. So I thought...

Just called in and they told me my order had actually been cancelled and they would have to escalate it and override the shipping dates, which could take up to 72 hours.

Cool. Glad I called.

Ordered 7 Plus 256gb Matt Black from ATT site with delivery dates of 10/7 - 10/14. Ended up checking the link at around 1:00pm today and reserved a 7 Plus 256gb Matt Black and a 7 256gb Matt Black. When I made the reservation it let me choose ATT but reserved it for apple upgrade program (this is because they are pushing the apple upgrade program). I cancelled my ATT pre-orders while on my way to apple. When I got to the store they tried to push me into their upgrade but when I said I wanted NEXT, they hit a "other options" screen on their device and I was able to do NEXT for both phones with the ATT trade-in program. They even gave me two return labels to ship my old iPhones back to ATT. EASY PEASY!
 
My phone is on premier business account thru work. Can I reserve a phone at Apple and use their upgrade program ? Are they able to get a business account phone to get connected on att? Hopefully this makes sense
 
What a mess! So someone from ATT's social media department saw a complaint of mine on Twitter. He basically called to tell me that the reason my order was essentially getting skipped over was because there was a bug in the system with the stupid "maintenance" the website was going through when preorders opened. I've talked to a few customer service reps and they've repeatedly told me my order was fine and that my phone (matte black+ 128) would ship during the shipping window (9/23-9/30), but they couldn't explain why others with later order times were getting through. He said he could see that I had a "warehouse ID"? meaning there's a phone assigned to me in the warehouse but due to the bug that occurred right when I placed my order at 3 am, it's showing up like I "haven't accepted the terms and conditions." Apparently something that's within the system and won't exactly show up on a basic order screen that it seems the CS reps use.. He couldn't tell me how to fix the problem and he suggested that I go to an actual AT&T store and sign a terms and conditions form and they could input it there. Absolutely none of that made sense to me, but I did go to a local store to see if they could look into it further. Once there, I was promptly brushed off and told to just "wait for my shipping window like everyone else" and they refused to look into my account at the note that the social media guy told me he placed on my account stating the issues to be addressed.

Needless to say at this point, I have no idea if my phone is actually going to be on the way in the said shipping window I was told to just wait for and I'm livid.
 
128 gig matte black IPhone 7 plus ordered 3:30am est ( due to their damn website). Received email that it shipped and should be here Tuesday.

This proves that preorder is a lie. This was all a giant crapshoot.

When I was grabbing mine I asked if I could use my business account, he told me only to upgrade an existing phone, not get a new line of service.

Someone else had this issue a few (maybe dozens) pages back, said someone at ATT named Nate called him saying he didn't accept the terms and conditions and once he accepted them (he didn't specify how he did this) he got immediate tracking info on his shipment. Please update if you hear more, more of us may be in that scenario.

Yes it would be an upgrade on my phone thru att next. That's what I was doing with my existing order that I have now thru att. I think I could have a problem though when it ask for the last 4 digits of a social when you try to get a phone on Apple site because I don't have one since it's a business account. I guess I can try. Thanks

That's the thing! A man named Nate called me too. And he wanted me to accept them as well but he couldn't tell me how. He tried to send me to another website to do it and when I tried to input my number and shipping zip code, it said the 'wireless number couldn't be found?' When I went to the actual store, they told me to never accept any terms and conditions before I have a working phone in my hand or else I'm accepting to pay for a phone that may not work once it's shipped to me.. So idk what to do. Obviously there's something wrong with my order due to the maintenance because Nate said he could see there was on the account, but the regular CS reps are useless and the store reps absolutely refused to even entertain my concern..

So I called AT&T service just to make sure my T's and C's were good and while getting to the menu the machine told me about my upgrade and asked if I was calling to activate that phone. Does that mean there is an IEMI assigned to it? if so, on the AT&T website how do I see if I have an assigned # yet? And wouldn't you assume that AT&T would have queried all the people during their " bug" ( it was a crash, they wont admit it) and automatically accepted the terms since it was a mess up on their end? w/e tired of trying to figure out how they work.

Yes it was. A man named Nate is the one who called me from the @ATTCares Twitter page. He's the most hopeful anyone from ATT has been through this process so far, but the sales reps were determined to say he didn't know what he was talking about and not to accept any terms or conditions prior to getting my phone.. But Nate is saying that's the reason I don't have my phone already. And that he could see I have a warehouse ID and everything.. So I really don't know where to go at this point.
