I believe those people were getting AT&T phones, and wanted to pay with AT&T Next instead of Apple Upgrade Program. They won't release a Verizon phone to a customer without service.

My phone is on the way from AT&T, and I haven't been recharged since my hold fell off.
I order an iphone 7plus 32gb black 09/09 at 10:36 AM Eastern Time and I Received the Shipping email yesterday. I am in Puerto Rico Hope I receive it tomoroww.
Confirm you can reserve iPhone 7/7 plus from any of the carriers- ATT TMobile Verizon Sprint- at Apple Store, and all will work with ATT. All iPhones through the reservation link posted earlier are unlocked. The best models are the Verizon/sprint ones. They will work on any network. The Att/Tmo ones will only work on Att/tmo
West county had 128 MB+ ATT yesterday
Galleria had a 128 also but was Verizon a little after midnight, I live in Cape but going to be up there this weekend so I've been checking, best time to check is at 12:01 AM, that's when they update for the current day.
I'm under the impression that they ask for your account information, regardless of payment method. I know I can't order one on their site without providing the fore mentioned info.
Is there any difference between the Att and mobile models? And can you do next with the tMobile model

I did it yesterday. You walk in, they bring out the phone... not unlike a drug deal. Then, if you are paying outright (like I did) they just give you the phone. If you are doing some kind of carrier financing like next, then you need an ATT account. I believe though that if you do the Apple financing, or iup, that you don't even need to set up on a carrier. Your problem is most likely that you are doing the retail reservation. Use the iup specific reservation link posted here earlier.

I have not, no update either...see my signature below for details. I believe I've seen two people total that have at least stated that they got JB pluses...but they could be full of it...
My JB+ 256 is set for 9/30-10/7. A friend of mine has the same order but shipping a week before mine supposedly.

When you make a reservation do they charge for the phone when you make the reservation or when you pick the phone up?
Thank you. I think i am going to try Apple then. If you trade in a iphone do they apply the credit to the phone to bring your monthly payments down?
I guess i should say that i was on a 2 year contract. now i am off of it. I am doing a IUP or Next for the first time. Trying to drop my monthly payments to the lowest I can.
When you make the reservation and you want to buy the phone outright, can you do that on the reservation page?

You just reserve it on the web page... you decide how to pay when you pick the phone up. AFAIK there is no way to pay on the web page.
The real question is, did they ever have any in the first place
