I've only been skimming a bit but am I to understand that I can reserve a Verizon phone in an Apple Store and link it to my AT&T Next when I go to pick it up?
Currently on my way to attempt this exact thing. From what I have read it should work, I hope so anyway.
 
I ordered 2 128 GB matte black 7+ on launch day. One at 12:17am pacific and the other at 12:22am, The second order has been shipped. The first has not. Also, my order status page shows 3 devices that are not even on my account. I checked with AT&T and they tell me it's a system glitch and not to worry about it. What!?
I have that to says this Various SVC says its back ordered
 
There is an iPhone 7 plus Matte black 128gb phone available 1.5 hours away in California, should I do it? I'm in Nevada haha.. I ordered at 9/9 at 3:04am, still no update. Friend ordered 2 days after me, same phone and got it.

I pre-ordered a JB 128GB Plus on 9/9 at 3:03am Eastern. I got 10/14-10/21 shipping dates and have heard nothing since.

This morning, I reserved a Verizon MB 128GB Plus through a nearby Apple Store and will pick it up in 2.5 hours.

This actually works out great for me as I travel out of country, so I will be able to use local SIMs rather than pay AT&T's outrageous fees. It also worked out better in that I will get matte black rather than Jet Black (heard about scratchgate after I ordered).

I'm happy and now there is one fewer phone in the queue :)
 
I pre-ordered a 128gb Jet Black regular 7 at 2:58a EST on Friday the 9th. Had a delivery window from October 14th - 21st. I canceled my AT&T pre-order and ordered through Apple's upgrade program, I'm now getting a Matte Black 32gb 7 and it'll be here this week or next week. Ordered on Saturday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ordered two IP7+ BLK 256GB
~8:30am/12:30pm ET 9/9
Estimated ship dates on both: 9/23 - 9/30
Upgrading paid-off installments to go into AT&T Upgrade Every Year, in prep for 2017 iPhone
Charged tax for both phones on 9/9
Current status: Preparing to Ship

I called (not chatted) the 877 number on the order status page (MyATT > My Orders) to ask for any available information on orders for my wife and I. I asked for an update on my wife's; no change. I asked if there was any additional information, CSR said no. I then asked for my order, she repeated what was on the order screen. Then she said that she was being told that Matte Black (as opposed to Jet Black) could be coming in sooner, so that our orders could be coming in ahead sooner than what the shipping dates were originally saying. I diplomatically asked her where she was getting that information from, and she said from her supervisor. I then thanked her for the update.

This literally just happened to me today and I wrote about it!
I specially asked ATT if it would delay my order if I shipped to a different address he was like oh no no it won't. Called today because it says N/A on my order status which is not good and of course the order is flagged as a high risk order and the rep I'm talking to now said the order would cancel tonight? I was like the fraud department doesn't reach out to verify it just cancels? What a freaking hot mess
 
Just called the local Apple store that had the iPhone I wanted in stock for Verizon but not AT&T and asked if I could reserve it under Verizon but activate it on AT&T. Apparently they cannot do this because they need to confirm your account information through the carrier prior to selling you the phone, meaning that without a Verizon account they will not give you the phone.

Let me know if anyone has a different experience.

Anyone else getting service is currently unavailable message when using the iPhone Reserve and Pick up site? I have tried several states, carriers and iphones and I get the same message:

We’re sorry, but this service is currently unavailable.
 
Screw ATT, they botched this whole damn thing. I'm going to just cancel and try my luck elsewhere. They said limited availability, but it is obvious they had none and knew they wouldn't have any for awhile. It is true that their ordering system is very flawed with orders being fulfilled out of order, same thing happened last year.

If you're paying outright for the phone, you can just set it up as a new line with Verizon. Go pick it up, unlock it, and put it on your line. Then just call and cancel the new service. This only works if you want to pay outright for the phone though.

That's a very clear indication of them going not in order.

if you buy the phone outright, you don't need to set up new service or unlock it. You just walk in, pay for the phone, leave with it and put in your att sim. Easy.
 
I think a lot of people are failing to realize that, when ordering from the online store of a reseller (ATT) you're waiting both for their item to get through Apple, then waiting for ATT to receive and re-distribute them. Expect it to take longer.
That's not necessarily true. While Apple does have to provide the phone to AT&T first, customers are in separate queues. We just don't know what is the shortest. The biggest issue is that AT&T doesn't have a line and seemingly randomly choosing people.
 
an update.... i still have no change....
ordered 9/9 rgd 7+ 256gb.... still preparing to ship 9/23-9/30 delivery dates. My boyfriend ordered the matte black 256 iphone 7+ from apple directly on the 15th and his card just got charged last night so his might beat mine getting here.

It's been a wild ride. I have been on this thread since it was just 16 pages long.

I lucked out today, and was able to reserve an iPhone 7 Plus 256GB in Matte Black at my local apple store. I'm going to pick it up today at 6:30 after work. On a whim, I refreshed the reserve and pick up page and it was available, after not being available this morning.

I will no longer continue to lurk this thread. I'm off to go lurk on the developer side of the forum now, I have Python, C, and C++ under my belt on the programming side of things, and now I'm off to learn Xcode/Swift/ObjC.

I got this exact same offer but without a trade in. I only had to port my number from tmobile. I'm a direct tv and uverse customer as well. Also, i got them to send me a free samsung j3 while i wait on my iphone 7 plus.


Here's part of the transcript with the CSR earlier. If you're right, then hey I was misinformed by their own rep and I'll ask for comp :)

And even if they do give me $650 over the two year period I'm still paying an insane amount of money monthly so I don't know if they're still losing in this case...
 
So now that both of my 7+ silver 256GB phones have shipped I have another first world problem :D AT&T shipped on via UPS 2 day air arriving Wednesday and one overnight FedEx arriving Tuesday...
 
Sorry if this has already been discussed. I have read the last 20 or so pages and havent seen it talked about. Not going to read through over 200 pages....

My question is...
I have a pre-order with ATT for 2 iPhone 7 plus 256gig. My ship dates are 10/7/-10/14. I am doing the next program and have already paid the taxes and going to take advantage of the $650 trade-in offer. So is it possible to try my luck and get it at the Apple store using ATT next and still take advantage of ATT's $650 offer? Of course, I know i would have to cancel my ATT order.
