When I got the 6, I tried 3 different AT&T stores and none of them had the model I wanted. Couldn't try an Apple Store that day as the closest one was an hour away. Even at the carrier store opening, they didn't have some models. Why don't they prepare for these things?!

I can second this. AT&T ships FedEx overnight or two-day. Last three years I've had extended shipping dates but every Thursday morning before launch I wake up to a shipping conformation with FedEx overnight and have received my phone on launch day.

I've seen a lot of that. They'll delay the shipping date weeks late, but then a lot of people who get that message end up getting their phone on the release date. Wonder why that is.

Ordered he 7 plus and I "think" I signed up for att next instead of att next every year, am I able to change that??

You are able to change that. When you receive your phone go into a corporate store and ask for a contract reversal and tell them you selected just Next when you meant to choose Next Every Year.

In the past during iPhone launches AT&T has over-promised and under-delivered and they have learned from that so now instead they under-promise and over-deliver typically on shipping dates lol

Can they actually do that? When I preordered in store I was told that the only option was to do next 24, but if I could do next 12 instead that would be great. (at the time I did not know that next every year was an option. )

Has anyone confirmed that AT&T's free iPhone 7 with trade in can taken advantage of in store on Friday? I'm considering canceling my order and just getting the phone in store on Friday.

What exactly is the promotion? I've seen varying promotions of different websites and I'm not sure what to believe exactly.

1st and Only year I upgrade through ATTs website, will go Apple next time I upgrade my phone.

I called earlier into ATT, the rep said to call Apple about it, I said ok, and thanks. Inside I'm like WTF? Why Apple when I bought it from you guys. I hate when companies hire people who aren't qualified, or don't know jack about the process. No one can tell me what Preparing to Ship means. How can not 1 ATT rep not know what that means.

And these dates are ridiculous, my friend got a Black 7+ 128gb for his Wife through Verizon, it's still processing, but it gives Sept 23 as a date, not Sept 23-Sept 30.
And that is a "delivery date", not a lame and week long "shipped by" date. Call Apple? Really? ATT is so lame at this. Never again.

Only reason I did it is because I got to AT&T's website before I could get on Apple's, even through their app. The whole ordering system is bull. They know the demand, there's no reason they can't prep for it.
Same here. Was really hoping to get into the Apple App to order as I had the previous years, but the AT&T app let me in early so I went with it. Finished the order by 11:58 pm pst and received a confirmation at 12:01 am pst, then an order status email with the lame shipping window of 9-23/9-30 at 12:18 am. Not a word from them since.

Check the email that you got with order confirmation, and number, it should at the bottom show the monthly price, depending on what GB you got, you should be able to tell my multiplying it by 24 and 30, whichever adds up that's what you have, 24= Every Year, 30= Just ATT Next.

The issue I have is they let people in early, when it stated pre-orders start at 12:01 AM PST(which is of course 3:01 AM EST), then there's no reason why someone who bought say 3:04AM like I did shouldn't get their phone on Launch day since it's within 15 minutes.

I called ATT, of course they didn't know anything about what Preparing to Ship meant. Hopefully I see a tracking number by Wednesday, it pisses me to be honest that the site allowed people in early, I got in before 3AM, but was booted out, and even then I had the one I ordered chosen, and it was same date range.

The issue I had with AT&T on my last iPhone purchase (iPhone 6, 64gb space gray)) was that I pre-ordered it in the pre-order period and it kept getting delayed and delayed. At first I thought it was OK since even the Apple Stores were out. Then people started getting them at work and they just walked into the store. By the time November rolled around I was getting furious. My roommate decided to get an iPhone 6 (64gb Gold), so he went to AT&T and ordered from the website like I did and boom 3 days later his shows up on the doorstep while I am receiving another email about yet another delay. Apple stores by this time were starting to have them in stock and so I went to an AT&T store to see if they had any, which they did, but I couldn't get one because I had one on order. I had to cancel my order, which was done in September - 2 months earlier - so that I could buy the phone in person at AT&T - or Apple for that matter. Hopefully this time around they get things right. This time I placed the order within the first 2 hours, I have a confirmation stating it should be delivered by the 16th, so we'll see.

Well I woke up hoping for tracking info. I apologize for my excitement I haven't done an iPhone pre-order since the iPhone 4.

No change yet. Still early. I did receive one of three cases I ordered to try out from Amazon. The other two arrive by Wednesday. Excited!

WHICH phone did you order?

Has anyone received text messages from AT&T regarding their order?
Was looking through my text messages from the past 2 years... For some reason I saved them on my phone.
I received order confirmation texts for the last 2 years and then another one when it shipped from the same number.
This year I received one but it was confirming the last payment I had to make on my Next plan.
Just curious if anyone has gotten anything this way.

Got an order confirmation text at 03:25AM ET. All it included was confirmation that my order was received, order number and promise that they'all let me know when it ships. Also, link to the "Check My Order" page at ATT.com Sent from # 288 987-88

Well... I'm relax because my shipping day say this Thursday and the delivery by Friday. So I don't think AT&T will ship early if the confirmation say that that is the ship day xD

I went in Wednesday the 7th to pay off the next plan for my 6 plus and when I was there they asked about the 7. I filled out this paper with my credit card info and new phone info and they said they were going to pre order for me on the 9th. The pre order went through at 6 am. No hassle for me.

The only problem is that the ship date is sept 23. I hope this is like my 6 plus

Two years ago I ordered it on nov 1 with ship dates for dec 22. It came nov 28. I hope it's like this again where they over promising. Exslecially when the women who helped me said it would arrive on launch day or the day before. I love following threads like this. Did it for the 6 plus. Haha

Too much fire & brimstone. Read previous pre-order threads. The dates are always later than you will receive in most cases with AT&T. Often by weeks. Wait and see what happens.

I can't imagine how hard figuring out the logistics and predicting volumes for IPhone launches. Not everyone upgrades every year and not everyone stays with the same carrier. You can't really expect them to have the technology and staff to have flawless iPhone launches one day a year. Plus who knows if Apple is keeping up with demand. Sure other carriers and people are getting tracking numbers, but read their threads. Just as many people who don't have definitive on time answers.

This will be my fourth pre-order. I've reiceved the previous 2 out of 3 on time despite later shipping dates. My iPhone 6 Plus 128 was the one that came late however that stated late October shipping and I still got in September.

I ordered IPhone 7 Plus 128 black with 9/23-9/30 dates. Feeling confident it will arrive on time, but who knows.

Inevitably some people will be delayed tho! Just hope it's not you!

The T-Mobile thread is interesting. I'm going around looking at what all the other carriers are up to. People in TMobile thread are tracking the planes carrying iPhone shipments from China. It's likely that all iPhones are traveling together then get sorted in Alaska depending on region and then more locally by service carrier/retail pickup/deliveries. By later today might get firmer idea of shipping / delivery. But my past experience is that there could be no updates as late as Thursday for launch day deliveries. And them boom. I usually call out of work when I get firm delivery date so I can sign for it.

Same, that's all I want, some information. Not too much to ask for.

If it's Friday, great, if Monday the 19th, great. 21st, great ok. But a week range is tough. 23rd to the 30th is Friday to Friday timeframe.

Luckily I work for myself (well with a partner) and a very flexible schedule, but I'd also like some certainty in that. Not just day before oh Im not going into the office; or at least a date certain I wouldnt schedule appointments for that day.

And ATT makes it harder only shipping it to the billing address which is home (I know you can call and try to change it but not worth the risk of delaying delivery)

And it's more frustrating as ATT is the only one I haven't see anyone getting shipped notices yet or at least delivery dates.

From ATT? If so I don't believe you have a 9/16 ship date. Screen shot for proof or it didn't happen.. ;)

It could be possible if it was an iPhone 7 - I believe the black 7 pluses had the automatic date of September 23 when the launch started.

There are launch day regular 7 dates for sure. No Pluses in either black color with ATT that I have heard of were assigned 16th dates.

They are absolutely the worst at communicating updated information with customers, and I concur 100% about the vague and useless "shipping (not delivery) window" BS they send you. First and last time I order from them. I've always ordered from Apple with no issues and plenty of updated order info. I'm going back to Apple from here on.

You may want to reconsider. I ordered a 7 Plus 256GB jet black from Apple at 6:48EST and got a shipping "date" of "November". I ordered the same phone from AT&T at 7:08AM and got a shipping window of Sept. 30 - Oct. 7. I know I'm damn anxious to get this beauty in my hands, just like the rest of you, but I'd much prefer a shipping window (that may move up earlier) with less status from AT&T than a shipping date (which also may move up a bit as Apple is also conservative on ship dates) of the entire month of November. I'll simply cancel the order I don't need.

That I do agree. Apple had much later shipping date ranges than ATT that right (probably even more conservative than ATT was being with their dates).

Problem is Apple is moving their dates up on peoples' orders to more accurate dates, and ATT has done notta; no ship notices, no dates moved, notta still. And their preparing to ship is true preparing to ship unlike ATT who seems to have given that status to all even out in October. Apple is giving a lot more accurate information out.

Honestly I can see that the pre-order that I did went through so smoothly - I didn't have to refresh or anything. It went right through starting at 3:01 and my transaction was complete in about 2 minutes. I was surprised when I saw that dreaded Sept 23rd though lol
