Are the iphones only being shipped through UPS or is FedEx also being used? I know for my 6 it was through fedex but I ordered through the apple store. I ordered the 7+ through the att app, does anyone know which carrier they use?

Well this is a sad start to a Monday.

Got an email saying my order has changed to "Pended" and I needed to call in more information.

They seemed to have an issue porting over my numbers from TMobile so they had to cancel and reprocess.

Seems I move to the back of the line even though she said my wife's Rose Gold 7 will be here on Friday and my 7+ 32 in black will now arrive October 7th-14th

AHHHHHHHHHHH well.

From my understanding AT&T uses FedEx.

I didn't get an email but it's been 'preparing for shipment' from the moment I pre-ordered mine at 2:58am Friday. I just checked my order status on att.com/orderstatus and now it shows 'Processing'. Feel like my status is going backwards. I'm not freaking out though. I've pre-ordered enough iPhones to know status' change constantly. I'm still banking on a Friday delivery even though my initial ETA was at Sept. 30-Oct. 30th.

iPhone 7+
Silver, 32GB

I ordered my phone at 12:07 AM on friday and I just checked my ATT order status and it shows:

Order Date 09/10/2016 at 11:05:02 AM EDT

Original Order Date: Your order was placed: 3:07 a.m. ET September 9, 2016

A day after I got my initial email about my order being placed on Friday...I get another email Saturday saying my order has been placed... and now status shows the later date. :(

I had a hell of a time with this last year - Apple didn't ship the phone with any sort of box to return my old one (why would they?), and the AT&T store refused to take it because they said it needed to be shipped. I ended up shipping it off to AT&T after the $300+ charge hit my account for a late return, once the tracking updated, they credited that charge, and then I ended up getting the phone BACK a month or so later saying it came in too late for them to accept it and they considered the matter closed. I called customer service and they verified that it was mine to keep, so I sold it.

Not expecting it to be that lucky/fluke-y this year, but I did order from AT&T instead of Apple for for the express purpose of hopefully getting a box/label to send my old phone back when the new one arrives. Let's hope I don't end up regretting the choice.

That's so funny the same thing happened to me although they didn't charge me. I went in on them and actually had a specific agent from their research department assisting me with the issue. Of course the apple store messed up and didn't give me the label to send the phone back and AT&T told me to go to the store the store told me to go to apple, apple said they couldn't do anything but that AT&T customer service could email me one because they had an issue with a customer regarding the same thing previously. So I called AT&T and escalated the phone call to a manager because the agent said they couldn't email me a label. I disputed that they couldn't charge me for the remainder of the phone if they didn't provide me with a way to ship it back to them. Agent apologizes and said he actually found a way to email me the label. lol I sent it and got it back with the letter. They never charged me and I unlocked the phone and sold it. I would love for it to happen again so I can have another phone. Seriously AT&T has to find a better way to collect these old phones

The past two years mine came Fedex. Last year it shipped the Sunday before the release. And the year before it was the Wedn before.

I think you are safe. Me on the other hand, starting over from square 1 just today I have zero hope of actual shipments on Friday but I guess I shall remain patient.

just FYI there is a Verizon thread on 7 Plus and they are all 9/23 dates too.

I just dont think Apple provided any/many 9/16 dates for Pluses until it gets closer to see what they're inventory is between now and Wed/Thurs.
FYI I ordered my 7+ rose gold at 830am pacific and got a 9/16 delivery date.

I ordered at 3:09am est. ( That is the time it said when I placed my order) My order then changed from processing to preparing for shipment but then it said my order went through at 2:51am est. How is that even possible? and I still got a shipment date of sept 23-30.

I don't recall do both AT&T and Apple iPhone deliveries require signature on delivery?

Similar thing happened to me. I ordered at 2:52am ET (somehow got in early) and now my order time shows 2:47am. My initial shipping date was Sept. 23-30th while it was still in progress. When my order changed to "preparing to ship" it changed the time of order to 2:47am and the shipping dates changed to Sept 22-29th.

FWIW last year I ordered the 6S+ the morning after preorders opened and got an Oct 10-16th shipping time and still received it at 9am launch day. I am positive the same thing will happen this year as well. Anyone with preparing to ship should get it on the 16th.

Mine still shows pending. I think you should be fine though. Let us know what comes of it.
This happened to me as well this morning. I got in contact with AT&T through the chat on the myatt app and they confirmed that they won't charge until shipped. You would think it would just stay on hold.

That's encouraging, but a question: I have the day off on Friday, and an Apple Store a short walk from my apartment. Part of me is tempted to go over there and line up and get this overwith, especially if I don't get a shipping notification by then.

That being said, I ordered my phone as the upgrade for my AT&T Next 12 plan, and online anyway, it shows that I am no longer eligible for an upgrade. Would cancelling my online order for this phone immediately restore my upgrade eligibility, or can I expect a whole lot of bull once I get into the Apple Store and am trying to buy this phone and make it my Next upgrade? Anyone have experience with this scenario?

I hope so!. I'm patiently ( not really) waiting for my dates to change!

I got into the AT&T website before midnight, added the phones to the cart and wasn't able to complete the checkout process. I never saw September 16 ship dates. Order Status went from In Progress Friday to Preparing to Ship Saturday. Don't see a difference in ship dates despite one Matte Black and one Rose Gold.

Matte Black 7+ 128gb on Next Every Year preordered thru Apple Store app, delivery ETA 10/4 - 10/10. Am I better off cancelling preorder and just attempting to pick one up in store on Friday?
Never cancel your preorder till you're sure you can get one on opening day. I did this last year… My situation was a little different in that I had ordered a 6S… Then had buyers remorse and wanted one of the 6S plus. So on launch day I went to a smaller AT&T store in a small mall near my home. When I walked in on Friday afternoon there was literally no one in the store on launch day and they had at least two of every combination of phone. I bought one of two 64GB 6S plus space grays in stock (they also had two rose gold 6S+ 64 gig in stock as well). I will use that concept again this year if my phone actually doesn't arrive. But always wait till after you have a new phone in your hand before you cancel your preorder.

Don't forget Target, RadioShack and Walmart which also have iPhones as well on launch day. Best Buy gets too busy with their pre-orders… Don't use them.
