Too much fire & brimstone. Read previous pre-order threads. The dates are always later than you will receive in most cases with AT&T. Often by weeks. Wait and see what happens.

I can't imagine how hard figuring out the logistics and predicting volumes for IPhone launches. Not everyone upgrades every year and not everyone stays with the same carrier. You can't really expect them to have the technology and staff to have flawless iPhone launches one day a year. Plus who knows if Apple is keeping up with demand. Sure other carriers and people are getting tracking numbers, but read their threads. Just as many people who don't have definitive on time answers.

This will be my fourth pre-order. I've reiceved the previous 2 out of 3 on time despite later shipping dates. My iPhone 6 Plus 128 was the one that came late however that stated late October shipping and I still got in September.

I ordered IPhone 7 Plus 128 black with 9/23-9/30 dates. Feeling confident it will arrive on time, but who knows.

Inevitably some people will be delayed tho! Just hope it's not you!

Exactly. Theres no point in trying to figure out the logistics. There is no correct answer.

Last time, I pre-ordered the 6+ and stressed about watching these forums, emails, etc. My phone didn't didn't come on launch day, but it did arrive sooner than the estimated dates.

Not gonna stress over it this time. It'll get here when it gets here :)

It is true that I can call att and switch my iPhone 7 to use on a different line right?
Before its activited I upgraded a different number on my account then the one I want to use the 7 on.
Am like 99% sure I can.
And sense it says on apples site you can't use ur SIM card that's in the 6/6s I can't just switch sims like you could in the past.

Had ZERO plans to update. This would be the first two-year cycle we would skip, but was trying to save a few bucks. Then ATT announced the $650 trade-in, and so we traded in our 6 Plus', and for only $100 more were able to get the iPhone 7's. Really couldn't pass it up. Rose Gold arrives first week of October, Jet Black arrives second week.

Great outlook. But I am curious if you ordered that 6+ right as the preorders opened? Or did you wait a while?
[doublepost=1473687560][/doublepost]As far as AT&T not having the best communication when it comes to their preorders I completely agree with everyone else. However, I have to say that, for the most part, the customer service is leaps and bounds over Verizon. I'll admit I've gotten some stupid people from AT&T but at least by my second attempt, I get someone who knows what they're talking about. It was impossible with Verizon. And as far as just preordering goes, I've had better luck with AT&T than Apple. I tried preordering the 4th Gen Apple TV and didn't receive it until at least a week after it hit stores. It wouldn't have been so frustrating if the stock had been low, but that definitely wasn't the case as stores such as Target had them in stock on launch day. The real kicker of the story: Even after waiting an extra week for it, it didn't work and I needed to take it into an apple store to get it replaced...

I am doing the same thing regarding buying the new iPhone 7+ on a different number and wanting to switch when I receive it with my wife's older iPhone. I called AT&t about this exact scenario and the guy last night told me that YES you can. He also explained that when you enter into a contract of any kind(next etc.), you are only contracting the phone # and not the actual phone. So in short, I plan on switching phones when I receive it. I've also been able to do this in the past. I either call and explain to them that I want the phone changed or last year I walked into an AT&t store and they happily did it for me right there. Hope this helps.

Cool i was pretty sure I could.
Theres no way am going near a att store on friday I avoid the att store at all costs no matter what day it is...
They are just to difficult to deal with at the store...
Calling is always the best way to go for me.

So you already traded the phones and locked in the $650 price credit?

Are you living without phones until your new iPhone 7s arrive?

Matte Black 7+ 128gb on Next Every Year preordered thru Apple Store app, delivery ETA 10/4 - 10/10. Am I better off cancelling preorder and just attempting to pick one up in store on Friday?

I ordered through ATT same phone as you. Got 9/23 shipping range just like everyone who ordered from ATT.
I'm giving it till wednesday to see any change and then cancelling and camping at one of my local apple stores thursday.
Only want one on launch day because my 6+ is already sold and shipped off and I'm currently using an old iPhone 4

I pre-ordered in store that morning. Saw no pint in waking up at midnight, when I knew the servers would be overloaded from the billions of other people ordering.

This time, I pre-ordered online. My order completed around 6:15 am CST. I have estimated dates of 9/30-10/7... no big deal. Its not the end of the world if I don't have it on launch day.

You take the old phone to an AT&T store within 15 days of receiving your new phone to get the $650 credit on your new phone. An AT&T rep told me this on a chat last night as I ordered my 7Plus Rose Gold 128GB. Sad that I waited so long, but I hadn't planned on ordering until I heard about the $650 deal! I got a Oct. 14 ship date. We leave for Europe on Oct. 13th, so I hope it arrives before that!

I am back to obsess with everyone. I tried to not think about it over the weekend. So I know I will drive myself crazy this week checking my order status to see when they ship.

this is my first time finally getting an iPhone. I ordered the black 7 plus 128GB. Shipping window of Sept 23-30. Pretty upset that I got up at 2am Central to pre-order from at&t website and was met with a "schedule maintenance" page from 2am to 3am. I just hope it's like some of y'all have said and this Thursday, I still get a shipping notification early.

Did anyone else order right when preorders began (my order time is 2:59 AM EST) and get a shipping range of Oct 14-21? My biggest anxiety in all of this is that people will be posting in here left and right that their orders shipped out, and my weirdly late window will remain just that, weirdly late.

128 GB Jet Black 7+, for the record.

yeah, freaking jet black 7+ was sold out so quickly that some carriers were giving november time frames. That and the fact that it will most likely be scratched up easily kept me from purchasing the Jet Black.

Just feels like I missed out on that late September window some people are quoting. That being said, I'm encouraged by the fact that Apple is shipping out jet black 7+es - I should've checked the 256es before placing my order but when I saw the dates, I assumed in my sleepless brain that they were in September and everything was fine, until the next morning when I realized it was October, not September. D'oh.

No - I ordered the new phones, and when they arrive in I then give ATT my old ones. Seems to be a great way of doing it.
I had a hell of a time with this last year - Apple didn't ship the phone with any sort of box to return my old one (why would they?), and the AT&T store refused to take it because they said it needed to be shipped. I ended up shipping it off to AT&T after the $300+ charge hit my account for a late return, once the tracking updated, they credited that charge, and then I ended up getting the phone BACK a month or so later saying it came in too late for them to accept it and they considered the matter closed. I called customer service and they verified that it was mine to keep, so I sold it.

Not expecting it to be that lucky/fluke-y this year, but I did order from AT&T instead of Apple for for the express purpose of hopefully getting a box/label to send my old phone back when the new one arrives. Let's hope I don't end up regretting the choice.

Can they actually do that? When I preordered in store I was told that the only option was to do next 24, but if I could do next 12 instead that would be great. (at the time I did not know that next every year was an option. )
Next Every year is a 24-month plan that allows you to upgrade annually. So basically you would've paid for half of the device, then you can upgrade to the new one. The regular next plan is 30 months financing and does not allow you to upgrade every year.

Pre-ordering from AT&T.com, this will be the thread to talk about your delivery dates and your pre-order dates.

Which iPhone are you getting?
My wife is getting the 7 (128GB's), but only after the AT&T rep told us it would be free with a trade-in of her 6 (not a 6S). We were leaning towards upgrading to a 6S because of the headphone jack deletion, but he said the offer only applied to a 7. Also, this was after a visit to the Apple Store, where we were told that AT&T wasn't taking trade-in's anymore.

Does anyone know if this is similar to previous roll-outs of iPhones at AT&T? I've seen ads for 'free' Samsungs/LG's, etc, and previous model iPhones, but for brand new iPhone models?

Peace be with you,
Chris

Sigh. Still freaking out because I have no tracking number and my preorder says it'll be here at launch (256gb IP7, Matte Black).

I talked with the ATT chat today and the lady "confirmed" that I'll have it on launch day, but until I get a tracking number I'll continue to be anxious.

WHYYYYY do they do this to us?

Many of us won't see shipping till 2 or even 1 day before arrival as they are already in the States waiting to be sent out. I also speculate that more Apple.com orders come directly from China so they get a tracking number earlier.

It's my understanding that I can just turn my old phones into the store, where I ordered my new ones.

just FYI there is a Verizon thread on 7 Plus and they are all 9/23 dates too.

I just dont think Apple provided any/many 9/16 dates for Pluses until it gets closer to see what they're inventory is between now and Wed/Thurs.
