I don't recall do both AT&T and Apple iPhone deliveries require signature on delivery?

I have not had to sign for my phones the past few years (all of them ordered from AT&T). Even if it does require a signature, you can print out a form for them to deliver it without you needing to worry about being there to sign it. Or you can request that they leave it with your neighbor (if you have one and/or trust them to hang onto it for you).

I now have a "pending shipment" for my tracking number, it wasn't there about an hour ago.
Which phone? And what was your original shipping estimate ?

Please be specific whenever you post, guys, as to what your ordered phone is and your original shipping estimate.

That's encouraging, but a question: I have the day off on Friday, and an Apple Store a short walk from my apartment. Part of me is tempted to go over there and line up and get this overwith, especially if I don't get a shipping notification by then.

That being said, I ordered my phone as the upgrade for my AT&T Next 12 plan, and online anyway, it shows that I am no longer eligible for an upgrade. Would cancelling my online order for this phone immediately restore my upgrade eligibility, or can I expect a whole lot of bull once I get into the Apple Store and am trying to buy this phone and make it my Next upgrade? Anyone have experience with this scenario?
What is your shipping date? If your phone is going to come to you on the 16th you WILL get a shipping notification on Wednesday or Thursday. Last year I got one on Thursday and was being shipped overnight to me. If you don't get one but others do and their shipping estimate was in the same range as yours, you could still possibly get yours, however it is entirely up to you if at that point you want to cancel it and go to the Apple Store.

The upgrade reversal "should" happen in a matter of seconds and automatically so I don't think that should be an issue.

Mine shows "pending shipment" or "preparing to ship" depending on where I look. Order status says "Preparing to ship" but tracking info says "Pending shipment". Honestly as much as I hate AT&T and by no means is this perfect it is a lot better this year than last year. Last year mine showed "in progress" and then on Thursday before launch BAM "Shipped".

iPhone 7 Plus Black 128GB Sept 22-29th

Phone: 7 RG 128GB
Ordered: Saturday afternoon (mind you it took all day because both the AT&T app and website were AWFUL!)
Est. ship date (by AT&T): Sept. 15
Delivery by date: Sept. 16.
Order Status: Preparing to Ship

I pre-ordered the 6S last year and can't remember: even if the ship date is later (because obviously it will take more than a single day to deliver), that's just how they input it into the system, but more than likely--as the supply in stock holds out--it's still expected to be delivered come Friday, yes?? :)

AT&T sometimes uses overnight shipping so it is completely plausible that it will ship the 15th and get delivered on the 16th. You will have it on the 16th.

What do you do with the form exactly? Is it something you have to email/send or can it be left at your front door for the driver to see?

Right now I'm looking at October 14-21, even though I placed my order immediately at 2:59 AM EST. 128 GB 7+ in Jet Black. Of course, I'd only be doing this if I don't get any sort of date change or shipping notification by late Thursday/early Friday morning. Glad to hear I should be able to just cancel that order once I'm in the store and they can assure me that I can get this phone on the spot.

So I have a question, I pre-ordered through AT&T Premier at 5:00 CST on the 9th 128GB Matte Black 7+ but it's showing Preparing to ship with estimated dates of
September 23, 2016 - September 30, 2016
Is there still hope for launch day delivery?

I busted in that mofo as soon as the site went live. I used a monitor program that was set to check for page changes every 5 seconds and was alerted as soon as the site went live. I quickly loaded up my cart and checked out. I did not receive a September 16th shipping option for my Gold iphone 7 Plus (estimated was Sept 23 - 30). So yeah I'm totally annoyed because I sold my Galaxy Note 5 to my cousin and I told her I'd deliver it on Friday the 16th after getting my iphone 7. Reservations open on the 17th, with pickup within 30 minutes, so if my phone doesn't arrive on the 16th I'm just going to cancel and use the reservation system to pick one up on the 17th. This is goofy. My friend has Verizon and she has a tracking number already.

If you read back even 20 posts earlier… You'll read that it certainly is plausible.

Still have a 9/16/16 estimate for my wife's phone but her status has gone back to processing items from preparing to ship.

Same boat as you. I have one pre ordered through ATT but plan on going to my local apple store and scooping one. I did this for the 6+. If you are going to cancel it, it might take up to 24 hours for it to reinstate your upgrade eligibility. Once you cancel it make sure to call ATT and make sure it went through and explain you need your upgrade reinstated ASAP.
I canceled my 6+ once I was in line the day before launch but it was at an ATT store so they can override upgrade eligibility if it hasn't gone through. Apple stores are going to just pull your account up through att so you need to make sure its reinstated before you walk in there.

I ordered my phone at 12:07 AM on friday and I just checked my ATT order status and it shows:

Order Date 09/10/2016 at 11:05:02 AM EDT

Original Order Date: Your order was placed: 3:07 a.m. ET September 9, 2016

A day after I got my initial email about my order being placed on Friday...I get another email Saturday saying my order has been placed... and now status shows the later date. :(
EXACT same thing happened to myself AND my daughter. I ordered at 2:53am cst on 9/9 and didn't get my email until Saturday and my order date had been changed to 9/10 at 11:07am. Still have same shipping window but wonder if my place in line has changed.

AT&T corporate store employee here. As far as the free iPhone 7 goes, anyone is eligible for it as long as they do Next. Doesn't matter if it's Next or Next Every Year. You can do higher than 32gb iPhone 7, you just pay the difference each month. You will start receiving bill credits within 2-3 billing cycles and will receive a retroactive credit for anything you've paid up to the point they start crediting your account. If you pre-ordered take your iPhone 6 or newer to a store to trade it in within 15 days of getting your iPhone 7 in the mail.

If you are doing a Next trade in with your pre-order the device you are trading in will be shipped out in the same box your new iPhone is shipped to you in. There will be a pre-paid shipping label in the box.

On a side note, hopefully we all get our phones before the shipping windows given. I have learned that AT&T is very conservative with the shipping windows they give.

If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to let me know and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks so much for your help. Do you happen to know if the monthly credits will definitely continue until the full $650 is credited? I only ask because I do the Next Every Year so I will most likely trade in the 7 next year. Would this possibly affect this? I know you can't see into the future but I didn't know if it had been discussed. Thanks again for your help!

Don't think they will continue, but you will have only paid half of the phone, thus you will only get half the credits. If you upgrade next year, as I plan, you will just enter a new 24 month phone payment. The remaining value of your IP6 will pay half of your IP7. The remaining value of your IP7 (in a year) will pay off your IP7 allowing you to finance an IP8.

Did anyone else order right when preorders began (my order time is 2:59 AM EST) and get a shipping range of Oct 14-21? My biggest anxiety in all of this is that people will be posting in here left and right that their orders shipped out, and my weirdly late window will remain just that, weirdly late.

128 GB Jet Black 7+, for the record.

Same time as you and same shipping dates. I ordered regular 7 128GB Jet Black.

I typically pay off my phone before the year is done

To basically answer my own question, I chatted with an AT&T rep and he said that as long as you pay off your 7 before you get a new phone, the monthly credits from trading in your 6 will continue
