My status through *6737# went backordered for me around 3:45 PM PT. I got a 256 GB MB 7+, and it's headed to the Bay Area.

Just got a shipment notification on mine - Matte Black 256gb - so I'll have it tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

Checked a few Apple Stores in my Area (metro Atlanta) this morning but nothing was available.

I know they launch in some additional countries on Friday and I was gonna feel real salty if mine had not at least shipped prior to Friday even though the estimated ship date was 9/23-9/30!

I received shipping confirmation today on my 7 Plus (Matte Black, 256gb on AT&T).
My order went through at 4:11:47 ET on the 9th, and had been "In Progress" from then until about 1 pm today, at which point it showed "Back Ordered."
At 3:06, I received the shipping confirmation e-mail from AT&T, with delivery tomorrow.
Initially, my shipping window was between the 23rd and the 30th.
I am in Northern Indiana.

Matte Black 256 7+ (2:52am EST 9/9 est 23-30) just changed status through #6737 to backordered! Finally some movement. (Tennessee)

You have to think about it from a business point of view. They have a pre selected number of devices that are going to retail stores, so they can make money too. If Apple (or carriers) relied only on pre-orders, or shipping the pre-orders out before they are available in stores, no one would make any money. The retail store employees would make no commission, the stores would be under par for their numbers, and probably would discontinue to carry said phones. Apple may not have been able to foresee the large number of pre-orders (which I agree should be easily expected, since it happens year after year), so in turn they have to wait for shipments from manufacturers, who I am assuming are working their A**es off to keep up with the production requirement due to pre-orders. I mean really, how is it going to affect you to have to wait a few extra days to receive a phone? Be patient... your phone IS coming.

Im stuck using a 4 right now cause my 6 plus broke, so unlike some, i actually really need this phone. If i had my 6 plus it wouldnt be that big of a deal. And i was one of many who stayed up super late on a work night to preorder this phone, only to watch others who preordered it so many hours, even days after i did, receive it before me. I'm being as patient as i can. Lol

Sucks pretty bad that I ordered before most here, and mine is still preparing to ship. BS. So done with AT&T and their shady practices.

Order date: 09/09/2016 at 2:46:16 a.m. ET - 256gb Matte Black iPhone 7 plus

I wish we had an Apple store, but closest is 170 miles away.

Ok guys, it's been fun. I put my middle finger up at ATT, I reserved a phone at Apple in Charlotte and just picked it up. After picking it up I cancelled my order with ATT and when asked for a reason, I told them exactly why. And I didn't candy coat it. So that frees up another MB+128 for you guys. Good luck!
