I never got a notification of any sort after mine went into backordered, but the phone was delivered within 24 hours after being backordered.
Well it's been almost 3 days for me so I'm tempted to just cancel because I got so happy when I saw back order and now it's like I got slapped in the face

I appreciate that. And my line is confirmed to still be on backorder.

So, as I said, I'm still awaiting shipping confirmation of it, though the wife's will be here tomorrow by 3pm (out of Memphis, TN coming to Atlanta, GA).

Just got the message mines being delivered today. Order didn't go through until like 3:31am EST that night, wasn't suppose to ship until the 23rd at the earliest. 128 gig + in black.

And to top it off, I would have never known that I went to "Backordered" by strictly staying on the web status page at AT&T. Only if I called in to both 800 numbers or called *ordr# would I have seen this.

I had already posted earlier that I called up a few times to AT&T CSRs. They literally had no idea what I was talking about in that there was an inconsistency between what the web portal stated versus what their own line's outgoing message stated, and that this message had only changed since this morning.
 
in other news, my boyfriends 256 gb mb plus was due originally to be here today (he ordered on apple on 9/16) then yesterday they pushed it to delivery tomorrow. I thought we would end up getting delivery at the same time even though I ordered several days prior and I joked that we were on the same plane. Well, his phone tracking just updated with "A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible." .... It's in flipping korea... it left china then ended up in korea and his delivery date is now up in the air... Don't know what that may mean for some of us... just passing on news of a plane that i specifically know is carrying iphone cargo in the mb/256 variety. Hoping now that i'm not on that damn plane or this really could be a whle before backorder status would update.

Yeah that is pretty bogus for staying up. I woke up at the pre order start time to get jet black and it was already saying November about 2 minutes into it. So I went to bed and then got up, went to work and ordered the matte. Definitely shouldn't be getting it before people who ordered earlier than me. Only reason I ordered through AT&T was because I received a defective iPhone 5 from Apple when it came out and AT&T couldn't replace it because it was ordered through Apple. The closest apple store is an hour and half from me.

I replied, but then realized I misread what you put. So... idk how to delete the comment on this tapatalk app... I just edited it instead with this lol.

For the people getting the back order text, when you call the order status number, what does it say? The text won't work for me and when I call it went from "processing at the warehouse" to "one or more items aren't in stock".
Mine says one or more items aren't in stock.

Has anyone else had the problem?... phone showed up yesterday in a box on my porch via UPS. My door is out of view of any passersby and is in a generally safe area. However, when I walked up to my second floor balcony entrance and saw the box, the tape holding the top two flaps on the box together had obviously been sliced and one of the edges peeled back. It was obvious someone had peeked in the box, but the phone was still there in it's original packaging and condition.

Just wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this?
 
I was trying to be super patient and stay out of this thread, but I just received a second text message saying "We recently sent you a message that your iPhone was on its way. Your original ship date has not changed. etc etc"

WTF!!! Thanks for the tease lol.

Pre-ordered about half hour after midnight JB+ 256 (unicorn), original ship date 9/30-10/7.

Oh and if it makes anyone feel better, I actually cancelled an Apple "reservation" in favor of the ATT order on pre-order night because I didn't trust Apple at the time. Sigh.
 
Hey guys!!! I canceled my girlfriend's 128 Matte Black order and called in a Matte Black 128 order today and it's set to arrive tomorrow!! (I will post the shipping confirm when I get it) The agent said that they have Matte Blacks in the warehouse. So I have no idea why it was taking so long for my Matte Black to arrive!

The "one or more items aren't in stock" is the rough equivalent of backordered.

This morning, both my lines went backordered (though web status page always showed Preparing to Ship).

I ordered my wife's 7+ 256GB BLK at ~8:30am ET on 9/9; it's now shipped. I ordered same at ~12:30pm ET and mine's still backordered. I expect to get a shipping notification either today or tomorrow.

And for some reason CSRs have no idea of this "back-end" change in statuses, but the vast majority of posters on this thread (me included) know this essentially means your inventory item is in the warehouse and they simply have to pick and ship it (pick it up from incoming devices and label it for shipment out to your destination).
