For the people getting the back order text, when you call the order status number, what does it say? The text won't work for me and when I call it went from "processing at the warehouse" to "one or more items aren't in stock".
It looks like yours changed to back order. The 'one or more items aren't in stock' means the same thing when calling.

Long time lurker when I used to own an iPhone way back when. Coming back since being with Android for a long time. Been following this thread and just checked *6737# for the umpteenth time and finally have the "backordered" status. Hoping for the shipping status and get it tomorrow or hopefully on Sat if they deliver on weekends. I thought it would never ship until the last promised date.

Ordered BLK IP7+ 128gb on 9/9 at 10:56am CST with shipping originally for 9/23-9/30

Well, my exciting backorder status last night between 8pm-10pm has yet to update with any shipping info. dammit dammit dammit dammit!

Yeah that is pretty bogus for staying up. I woke up at the pre order start time to get jet black and it was already saying November about 2 minutes into it. So I went to bed and then got up, went to work and ordered the matte. Definitely shouldn't be getting it before people who ordered earlier than me. Only reason I ordered through AT&T was because I received a defective iPhone 5 from Apple when it came out and AT&T couldn't replace it because it was ordered through Apple. The closest apple store is an hour and half from me.

I am almost besides myself. I ordered a 7+ 128 GB MB and its timestamped at basically 3:05 AM on 9/9. STILL NOTHING but preparing for shipment. NEVER and I mean NEVER again will I pre-order from AT&T.
Same phone and same situation
My ordered was 1 minute before yours

Ok guys. Time for me to sign off. Received my shipping notification about 45 min ago. Phone will be here tomorrow. It's coming from Memphis, TN (I'm in PA) Woke up this morning at 5:30 and my status had changed to back order. Don't give up! My original ship dates were 9/23 - 9/30 and I'm getting it on 9/23 so I guess they were right.
It's been fun. I'll see you all again next year!! :D

To be honest with you ATTs policy with defective apple products is to take them to apple. Even if you bought it from att. The only exception is if receive a refurbished apple item through an insurance claim. Then att warranty can take care of it.
