What say you?
From Apple's website.
"The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone."

I did - I'm not sure if I'll use it or not, but wanted to have one on hand. Plus, I love the Sea Blue silicone case color...

Ive ordered a clear case from Amazon as well.. Trying it out... We will see how it goes. I'd rather not for the looks of the device (for the first time), but I dread the thought of dropping and breaking it.

Already ordered a clear Spigen case from Amazon.
Which one did you order? The one I bought from them seemed flimsy like a $5 case...not like the firmness of the" rose gold" 6S case I bought for a siblings birthday a while back

I'll be buying a case but not because of micro scratches. It's more the drop factor of iPhones, couldn't care less if its gold, silver orange, purple, matte or gloss, if it's an iPhone I'm sticking an Apple leather case on it.

imo, if you go jet black, I don't see why add the case.

Does no one here like the Otterbox Symmetry ? (it comes in full clear and one that's mostly clear but black on the edges(seems perfect for jet-black)

The whole point of Jet Black is the beautiful finish. Why cover it up with a cheap plastic case that'll scratch it anyways?

True, but I hope the glossy finish doesn't show scratches like a mofo and it will probably be a fingerprint nightmare.

Think black cars.

Most definatley the iPhone is much too slippy in the hand not to

Any phone I use a case I dont want a broken phone.

Everyone who has held the Jet Black has said it is much LESS slippery than the other models. In fact, John Gruber said the Jet Black is the least slippery iPhone Apple has ever made.

I got the Jet Black for precisely this reason. I hate using cases, but the other anodized aluminum models were always so slippery. Now I can have an iPhone that I can grip!
