Always screen side up and camera side down, never had an issue with messing up or scratching my camera plus the camera/flash area is far smaller than your screen.
Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. This is the first time I am going without a case so I wanted see what others tend to do when laying the phone down.

Have owned every iPhone since the 3G and have always gone naked. Apple's designs are just too good looking, and I am very careful with my phones. All that changed when I got the 6+, which was a little too big to hold comfortably. I started keeping a case on it because I found myself nearly dropping it quite frequently. Now that I'm back on the regular size for the 7, I'm going naked again. This phone is much easier to hang on to, and I haven't been able to find a case that doesn't completely ruin the wonderful feeling of sliding from the edge of the curved glass on the 6/7 series.

I did get a Rhinoshield crashguard bumper, but only use it at the gym or hiking, or anywhere else where a drop might be more likely. It's naked the rest of the time though. The matte black looks so sharp!

3 months jet black buck neked since new. Scratches galore. No care. If I did it again I'd probably get black. Cest la vie.

I got my new iPhone 7 two days ago and went for the jet black model.
I got the apple leather case as I had the same case for my 6 and loved how it aged and protected the phone.

I was contemplating going naked with the jet black 7, so how badly scratched is your phone?

If you're on the Apple upgrade programme it doesn't matter how scratched up your phone is, you just hand it in when the 8 comes out and walk out with a brand new spanking new iPhone. No?

Keeping your phone scratch free for the next user is like not sleeping with your girlfriend incase she finds someone else ;)

Been using my jet black 7+ for a month now and is still looks great, I'm just careful of what surfaces I put it down on.

If you love your gf you'll do what's best for her even if it means keeping her scratch free for the next dude.

I'm very interested in this as well. I'm seeing forums that say "normal wear and tear" is allowed. But what if it is more? I'm going to try to keep my phone for 2 years but I'm interested as well.

Tried many cases over the years. None last longer than half a day. Back to "naked" how god, i mean Apple intended it. So far no scratches on my matt black.

I have to admit that my golden iPhone 6 looked like someone was cutting sushi on the back cover after a year tho

Condition of Financed iPhone when Exercising your Upgrade Option. As noted above, your Financed iPhone must be in good physical and operational condition when exercising your Upgrade Option as determined solely by Apple or Apple’s trade-in service provider (“Trade-In Service Provider”). For a Financed iPhone to be considered in good physical and operational condition, the Financed iPhone must:
  • Power on and hold a charge;
  • Have an intact and functioning display;
  • Have no breaks or cracks; and
  • Have Activation Lock disabled (you may be asked to disable at the time of upgrade).

That's all well and good but, the upgrade programme includes AppleCare plus so there's no reason why all of the above won't be satisfied

Just because is involved in the program, that doesn't necessarily mean that the phone will be presented in the manner outlined, by all involved. There is a reason why they went through the trouble to specifically outline what is expected.

Agreed. But anyone with any sense will present their phone in a decent enough state to exchange for the new one. I know I will anyway.

What I want to know is, when the new iPhone is on sale, do "we" have to place an order to buy (and then sort out the upgrade later) or have to wait until the reserve to collect in store are available? When I got mine it was a reserve in store where I took out the upgrade option.

I'm not stupid I have a case on mine.

I have been fortunate. I never use cases, unless I'm at work. Otherwise, I use my phones without cases and I've never had any issues. Although, I will say that I'm extra careful with how I handle it, being as how I treat all my Apple devices.
