Im planning on doing a fresh install but just want to restore my contacts, how do i go about that anyone?

I will definitely be asking them to send it back if they reduce it by that much!!

I did! I also videoed the phone's condition and it being wrapped up and sent to them, so if they send it back to me in a worse condition than I sent it, hopefully the won't be able to argue it.

Off topic but my mate is going for the upgrade program but as i told him, Apple are being really clever with the upgrade program. On paper it sounds good but Apple are roping people in and making it very difficult for them to leave Apple. People are tied in for 23 months and putting aside the 11 month upgrade scheme, if someone wants to leave Apple and go to Samsung, they will still have to pay off the remainder of their 23 month contract that may cost hundreds of pounds before migrating to another manufacturer. either that or they will be paying for a new phone and the remaining contract on their old phone. Apple will totally own them lol

Ordered the 7+ jet black version 256GB off the carphone warehouse website last night. Originally was going to wait until O2 had stock and purchase directly from their store but was informed on Friday that they don't have a clue when they're supposed to be getting 7+ stock. Was unable to pre-order but got an expected delivery date for the 7th of October? I've only received an email stating the order acknowledgement, no money has been deducted from my account yet. Anyone else due to receive theirs by this date?

Hi, I was told i would have my 128GB Matte Black iPhone 7 Plus by the 7th of October.

Are you on iCloud?

Don't quote me but the simplest option I THINK would be to go into iCloud on iPhone and switch everything off apart from contacts then back up the phone

Get new phone and when you start it up you would then restore from backup and only your contacts will transfer across,

Never tried it so again don't quote me ;)

When people are checking stock at 6am are you using the app or does it have to be the web page?

It's 20 months and it's a pretty good deal:
  • £49 up front
  • 20 equal monthly payments equal to the RRP of the phone
  • AppleCare+ included
So even if you never upgrade you're actually saving £70 compared to buying the phone and AppleCare+ upfront and you get to pay in instalments.

EDIT: I made a mistake here. The 20 payments actually add up to more than the RRP of the phone. So it's effectively an interest free loan which is still a very good deal.

... Doesn't make all that much sense. How is it any different then buying from a carrier or outright unlocked? To me it seems a good deal really, pay the same over 2 years for a phone that you would have had to buy outright? If you want to keep phone after 11 months, pay the last 400 quid and keep phone and get the next iPhone? Applecare is in the price so obviously slightly more expensive but in long run, could be a life saver.

The upgrade program is the equivalent of buying a car on HP.
You always get the latest and greatest, but you are always paying for it.
Personally I pay cash for everything. Makes life much more simpler. Especially as you get the square root of not much in interest in savings these days.
I've never bothered with AppleCare. I never would.

Is the Thinking that stores will be getting pluses in stock this week. But JB pluses in November? (Instore)

I was going to do this but once in store I opted for the iPhone Payments Plan instead (though was getting some very gentle 'persuasion' to do the upgrade programme). iPP Essentially the same in terms of spreading cost interest free but no AppleCare (so cheaper - 43.50 compared with 49.45) and no ability to swap next year. However I wanted the option to sell the phone myself next year and pay off the loan earlier when in my case there will only be 8x£43.50(£348) remaining. Am guessing my 256gb 7+ will be worth at least £100 more than that in 12 months time.

Thanks :) So I simply start fresh. Go to iclouds and download contacts? Sorry, i've not restored anything since i got my iphone 6 2 years ago...

On your old iPhone check if contacts is enabled on your iCloud settings and then when you're setting up your new phone, just set it up as normal and it'll ask you to login to your iCloud account and once you've finished setting up it'll automatically download your contacts :)

Sounds good. It's all quite complicated. My 6s Plus was £789, just sold it for £455. 7 Plus is £819, so the upgrade cost was £364. Trying to work out how that compares to the Upgrade Programme.

The complication is that every year you extend your agreement, essentially renewing a 20 month programme every year. So if you always upgraded you're always deferring 9 months of payments indefinitely.

Those of us in the 20-22nd crew will probably see our phones dispatched tomorrow for Tuesday delivery.

That would be my dream come true right now. Means I'll have the phone on Tuesday and not when I get back from a super long work trip.
Is it likely do you think?

What kind of put me off the upgrade programme was that only 2 options - swap phone or keep. If you don't have the phone to give back there was no option to pay a pre agreed figure instead - though I suppose I could have paid the remaining 8 payments. With EE's 25 and 40gb Max plans you pay £310 to upgrade after one year if you no longer have the 7-+ phone to swap (less for a non plus model) I actually have a 128gb JB+ on order as an upgrade and it was a good deal as they were not charging an upfront cost and £65.99 per month (currently paying around £20-25 per on a sim only deal). However now being quoted 28 days for delivery which mans a the new contract won't start til October and next year I won't be able to upgrade til the October either.

I'd be very surprised if they weren't dispatched tomorrow.

Yes this is a good point.

Remember with EE you can upgrade 45 days early though!

At the end of the day, these programmes are just unsuitable for someone whose number one priority is to get the latest phone ASAP. And let's be honest, it's called the upgrade programme so that will be most people!

If you're the sort of person who will be checking reservations pages, reseller stock, and so on, every time a new iPhone comes out, then outright cash payment is the only option really. Being beholden to an Apple Store's stock, as is the case with IUP, is crap.

I reserved an iPhone 7 128Gb in black last Tuesday on the Apple website and collected it Friday afternoon...and it's top :D

Must be one of the few who moved from a plus version to the standard iPhone...and I love it.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their new 7 (plus or not) I hope you enjoy it as much as I am already :p

Andy :D:D:D
