Your username sums you up mate, you think sub standard resolution in the era of 2k/4k displays is somehow special because Apple put a plus after HD somehow convincing folk that it was extra special..

these new iPhones are shaping up to be the best iPhones Apple has ever !
I don't know how you can type with a straight face mate, as if they are gonna release summat inferior to the previous model....really..

Being better than last year's is simply sometimes not good enough 12 months later to get folks excited. What have they been doing all this time,

The fact that Apple appear to be once again abandoning the 4" size and losing the headphone jack leads me to think that this iPhone will see the same downward trend in sales that we saw with the iPhone 6s.

Wish it were not so.
Downward... is a distinct possibility.

Either way it's of little consequence. With the massive cash reserves Apple has and next year being the tenth anniversary of iPhone, the company has time before any ongoing downward trend makes a substantial impact.

As such, it's high time they begin to display a commitment to high quality innovative products. Not somewhat gimmicky items like Apple Watch.

Over the years I've enjoyed Apples computers and other products, it would be good to see Apple create a new product that would carry them into the future. Simply having a big pile of cash and a space ship shaped monument to a departed leader is not enough. Don't look now, but Samsung, Microsoft and others are serving the market very well.

If Apple is to be a lasting leader in the tech space, they'd better improve their game.

... the internal codenames for Apple's upcoming iPhones are "Sonora" and "Dos Palos", without specifying which is which (although the latter is a small city in California; the former is a Mexican state).
Sonora is also a town in California, so they both are.
[doublepost=1469383166][/doublepost]
I like to think that Dos Palos is the codename for the iPhone 7 Plus because if it's rumored Dual Camera.
You might as well also speculate that "two poles" might mean a fold-out external antenna

Uummm is it safe to say "Duh"?...

This will be the fifth year in a row that the iPhone comes out in September. Let me guess... The iOS 10 Beta will end in early September and the final version will ship with the new iPhones? Shocking!

Yes, Apple is a very predictable company despite their manufactured lie that they are very secretive. Everything they do is purely calculated and planned in advance. Regarding the software, I think that they already have their beta releases ready to go and their beta testing program is just a bs way to get the public and software developers to find random bugs that were deliberately coded in. Plus when they release the last beta or two, they are already building the latest iPhone. They will start building them in August with the final software on them, then release the betas after that and act like they are still finding bugs. I'd bet that they have two teams working on iOS, one team working on the final release and one team working on the slowly-released betas. Hey let's create a bug for the next beta. But as you implied, literally everything they do is manufactured marketing. I wouldn't be surprised if iPhone 7 was completed last year and they are working on iPhone 7S right now. And I still stand by my claim that they are really hoarding cash to someday buy Microsoft. I think that by then they will have a lot more influence to make it happen.

That is simply not true at all

Most apps there are hardly any difference. IOS does have more apps but that doesn't mean they are any better. There is basically no difference in all the apps on my iphone as there is to my S7 edge.

Music? google music is just fine with the choice being fine. That said I'm using apple music for the trial period and have got apple music on my S7 edge so I don't lose anything when it comes to music either.

android tablets? yeah it's lacking and they don't care as much as apple do about their ipad line. Android tablets aren't very good for apps at all you're right but generally? it fills a need for when I had one. Certainly for watching films, live sport e.t.c. Where it's certainly better as you don't need to pay the stupid itunes payments of crazy money to watch a box set series. Which costs like £100 when using an android tablet is free.

Apple has things better than android but android does some better than apple. Choice is always good which Is why I'm glad I have both. So the things that are important like live sport, tv shows, films, on screen widgets, make the phone how you want it I use my edge. Everything else I love what my apple products do.

I said music production, not listening to music. As in Apps for recording music, as used by musicians.

Go into categories like photo, video, drawing & illustration or any category where you might actually want to do something and the gap widens significantly in favor of iOS. Health, especially, is superior on iOS especially with ResearchKit and HealthKit.

Why don't you list the top 10 Apps on your S7 that are also available on iOS and I'll compare them on my 6S Plus to my S7 and see what the differences are.

You making a lot of assumption Out of rumours. I heard the same about end of PCs, end of optical drives etc etc. PC are doing fine and the optical drive is still on its way out....just cause Apple jumps does not mean everyone else does. The industry in fact will wait and see how this impacts apple.

So....how about you explain how this in fact is an advantage to the consumer. I still need a
DAC in the chain.....paying more for headphones an advantage ? Sticking an adapter into my phone an advantage?

I never said it was an advantage. I'm just saying that companies look like there going to do it.

Does lenovo use a proprietary connection like the lightning port?

No, they're going with USB-C.

I pretty good, I can give you a B+ for brevity. The other part I was looking for is whether a leak can be a prediction. You were almost there. Anyone care to attempt that part of the assignment?

Professor Reilly,

The likeliness of a leak being a prediction is unlikely as you asked. Thus a leak is information in which was somehow discovered through an unknown/known source, in order for the leak to be established as a prediction, the prediction has to have a point of origin, hence the leak indicating when, where, what and how. A leak is only credible until it is traced for legitimacy and evidence it exists, which again, would leave a person to have a reasonable suspicion of how the leak began. A leak must first dawn, followed by a prediction of how and when.

Well let's see in 2017 how many flagship phones will have a 3.5mm phone jack.

and how many "flagship" devices will have usb-c vs lightning vs 3.5mm .... thats the real issue, we are going from having a universal standard for all devices to now an apple device/ rest of world standard. Even the new xbox one s controllers coming out still have 3.5 mm jacks for headphones... Is Sony or Microsoft going to make controllers with lightning jacks? I highly doubt it, they'll continue with 3.5 mm or change to usb-c.

Maybe Apple will go with USB C too, after all the other end of the cable is a USB plug

That's doesn't make sense, no one ever disagrees that Android does more due to its open nature.

Irrelevant when top developers release better Apps on iOS. It's impossible to "do more" if the software doesn't exist to do it.

3.5mm is not a universal standard. Only the size is - what the electrical connections do vary. There are actually two main versions for the 4 conductor types where the innermost 2 connections are actually backwards (mic and ground) and are not compatible. Then there are the variations in what signals are sent with headphones that have buttons for controlling volume and tracks.

The idea that all 3.5mm headphones work in all devices is asinine. The ONLY version that does is the older 3 conductor versions for audio only.

Since when is not knowing being asinine? I highly doubt that is common knowledge, sorry I didn't take a second to google it. I'm going off experience of never buying a set of headphones that didn't work in my 3.5mm jack.

The best smartphone on the planet looks like it won't have one. Don't care about whether or not other phones I'm not interested in have one.

If the iphone has one or does not have one, you don't care right, you will just buy what is released..... I'm happy to stick to the 6S

What is the best is subjective, but thanks for your opinion.

The s7 edge will have one until the s8 is released , how do you know at this stage what or what not the s8 will have?

Hang on.. You're referring to the lame 6ss coming soon, OMG!! Best smartphone on the planet.. lol lol

3.5mm headphone jack is not universal for audio ???

To put into laymans terms , people here are aware that apple headphones don't work on a Samsung for mic and controls, and at the same time , Samsung headphones only have Audio on an iPhone.

It's quite simple, when we shop for headphones, we can buy universal or we can buy ones for iOS or android.....if we want mic and controls, but they will work for audio.

Going forward this gets worse, cause the Lightning headphones will work only on iPhones......step backwards.

I'm yet to find an electronic device, mainstream that plays music that will not accept a 3.5mm audio jack....that in my book is mainstream.

Don't need to know what the S8 will have. Samsung Galaxy phones have always been inferior to the iPhone. No need to think it will be any different this year.

Are you on some sort of wind up, screen, camera, battery, design, all superior on the galaxy without question. Open your eyes, put down the koolaid, and it all becomes clearer.

I used to think the same way, I own a 6s now, was at BB looking at the S7 edge and sure seemed like it could be a nice change over my usual apple upgrade.. Not saying it is better, just different than the usual. Holding out hoping Apple has something earth shattering. But as long as folks are content with and buy what they put out, it hurts innovation.

Sorry, have an S7 and 6S Plus. iPhone is faster at everything, in some cases a lot. The S7 has a nicer screen, but the color is off. That's because neither Android or Samsung has color management, while iOS does. If you like cartoon colors, the S7 is for you.

iPhone has superior video (and does 1080P at 120 FPS which Samsung lacks the horsepower to do). IF you take time to set up your shots the S7 it can take better pictures. But only slightly better, and in day-today shooting that most people do the iPhone will producethe better result.

There's no equivalent to 3D Touch on the S7, but I'm sure Samsung will get around to adding it.

S7 is using inferior UFS storage (after bragging when the S6 was the worlds first phone to use it) while getting left behind by Apples superior implementation of NVMe (which nobody else uses yet). S7 is also using inferior software encryption while the iPhone has had it since the 3GS.

But hey, the S7 is definitely shinier. Add some widgets and animated wallpapers and your Honda Civic is all decked out.

Then that damned iPhone 7 BETTER BE waterproof.

In the event of deleting the 3.5 Jack, this should and hopefully allow it to at least be more water resistant. Surprisingly, there are tests proving how waterproof the iPhone 6s is. Although they are using more adhesive to. Which can be a drawback too.
