To say being on android sucks is laughable. All the things you can do on an iphone you can do on any android. You certainly don’t need to worry about the headphone jack either.
Yeah, exactly like how you can do everything a Mac can do in Windows. Doesn't mean it isn't a clunky PitA. Every time someone comes to me and says Android has improved, I try it, and it's still a piece of garbage. Feels like I'm using a phone from 2004.

There is the headphone jack thing... I HAVE been becoming increasingly worried that Apple is going to turn to crap soon.

Fewer bugs, less lag, more consistent and user-friendly interface, iMessage and FaceTime, often better battery life, no junk added by the manufacturer, safer app store.

Fewer bugs, dunno about that , Apple has not being doing great with OS release lately. I'd call it even

Less lag. Current flagship models compared, agree. Older devices, my idevices running the latest software are very laggy , wish I could down grade the iOS version

Better battery life: often better battery life ?? It's not the best, that's a simpler way.

No added junk: disagree more and more bloatware apps have been introduced into iOS that I cannot remove, this is being remedied in iOS 10, but likes of Samsung have also learned, and are no longer forced on the user

Safer App Store : i see no difference, both android and iOS app stores have had "unsafe" apps make thier way through , it's human error in the review process.

In addition, we live in a lavish world where appearance is King. Take a brand new $75,000 Mercedes for example, all it takes is for one not to like the paint color to overall negate and not appreciate the interior, engine, and Car just based off a paint color.

Point is, some can look past physical characteristics and appreciate the internals rather than one 'Camera Bump' or 'Antenna Bands'. It's astounding no one comments on the software/camera improvements, yet there are thousands of comments on how 'Ugly' this iPhone 7 will be. Maybe I am a minority. Launch Day for me.
So what's great about the iPhone 7's internals? It's a very minor upgrade, and it's even a downgrade in a way if you care about the headphone jack. And, you know, they only did that to make it look prettier (and maybe to sell accessories).

When your number one priority in a phone is the OS and customer service, you will choose an iPhone no matter what. They could Change almost nothing, and if you needed a phone you will buy a new iPhone.

The situation is a lot more interesting for people on the fence though.

One thing I will say, I don't see how Samsung are failing on the software, they have actually listened and got rid of a lot of bloatware. Thier customer service is way behind Apple though.

One thing I don't like though, the ever increasing price of AppleCare, for my iPhone 6s it's now at £110....Apple support is becoming expansive.

Samsung's software is not nearly as lucid as Apple's, it almost helps if you compare both phones side by side. The Galaxy S7 is great piece of hardware, but it stutters and lags, it just does. I have used the S7 and its apparent in applications, multitasking, and overall performance. Now, iOS is not perfect, but how it performs faster and more seamless.

Samsung's customer service is sub par. I spoke with their technical support in the past, it was horrible in the sense In lack of knowledge and training.

I don't see the problem with the apps you can't delete other than minor storage usage. You can put them elsewhere and ignore them. It's not like you end up with launch daemons running. There was only one exception: Game Center. Stupid ****ing piece of **** came up in the middle of a game trying to log me in and made me lose. They seem to have fixed that in some version of iOS a while back, and it doesn't bother users anymore.

The App Store has had some mildly sketchy things like Snaphack, but it definitely seems to be less wild than Google Play. There are plenty of apps on Google Play that for sure would not be allowed on the App Store, and I haven't seen any case where it's the opposite.

funny thats what alot from android say about apple. Features that android has had for years apple is only just starting to add.

Agreed customer service is better with apple and yeah it does lag from time to time but all phones do in some way. Iphone is smoother though I agree.

I have both the s7 and iPhone 6s Plus, I prefer my iPhone for software ease of use, and yes, iOS is better optimised but the s7 gives me flexibility I cannot get from my iPhone. Pros/cons

My point though, these days with prices of AppleCare going up, you are paying for that customer service.

Who knows what else they add to the iphone 7. Camera quality is a big deal to me so if these duel camera is great then it could be a good upgrade. Depends what else is added to it. Duel speakers would be good as would even faster performance.

Prettier? Deleting the headphone jack was not deleted to look prettier, this is in hopes of maybe a larger battery, maybe wireless charging, maybe to reduce the use of a DAC, less power consumption. The headphone jack is eventually on its way out, rather it be now or 2017. The 3.5 Jack will inconvenience some and others may welcome it.

What is a minor upgrade to you? Upgraded camera, larger battery, updated processor(s), flush home button, with possible 3D Touch, thinner, stereo speakers, possible wireless charging. It does not have to be astonishing features to make this an incremental upgrade, little features can add up too. And any other features not yet introduced and I am not saying all these possibilities will be welcomed or accurate. But it is in hopes.

iOS 10 seems hopeful with the A10/M10 processor. We won't know the differences until the results can be Geek-Benched tested.

yeah I got folders setup to hide crap. Though it seems everyone is learning and allowing its users to remove core apps now and in the future , I'm looking forward to hanging a clean "desktop" on my phone :)

On the flipside on android you get apps like Kodi, and various music playing apps that apple will not allow onto iOS to protect thier "iTunes" fortress. Google will allow more junk, but in that junk there are some awesome gems. Apple is very clever in what it allows, not just for out interests but theirs also.

The SE is not weaker than the 6s, it's only limitations were the older case that would not easily allow force touch. Other than that , it's as good as the flagship. They won't have the case limitations on a brand new model. And I think Apple has learned it's lesson from the 5C, and now the demand for the SE. Apple customers want a great product. And people are willing to pay for an older iPhone to get that great Apple product even if it's a year or two old as their entry level phone.
People always expect to get the best from Apple, and if a budget low spec phone is what a customer wants, then there are lots of Android phones for a customer to choose from. Getting into that space is not a winning strategy for anyone much less Apple.

These are all the differences between the 6s and the 5 se,

Iphone 6s

Display: Larger, brighter, higher contrast display with a wider viewing angle.
3D Touch : Gets much more important with IOS 10
Touch ID 2.0 :
Toughness : AL 7000 frame
Camera: Better Selfie/facetime Camera
CELL: 300 Mbs vs 150 mbs
Wi‑Fi: AC MIMO vs Not AC Mimo
Barometer: Present
Max storage: 128G vs 64G
----
Main advantage of SE, battery life due to 3D touch not taking up battery space and a lower resolution screen.
---
The 6s+ also has the advantage of OIS for video and photos and a higher resolution, higher density screen
----

You can decide wheter those advantage are worth it or not.

There will not be a new small phone release this fall, but there may be next year.

It's about the DAC. iPhones have always had very good dacs, now apple get to save money on the dac, put in generic cheapest option possible to run the speakers, and charge for moving the dac into an adapter. It's a very good profit move, you are paying more cause they moved the good quality dac from the 6S into an adapter they will charge you for, while keeping the price of the phone the same....profit.

Well that's my theory :)

The rest of the upgrades will be welcome

I have accepted the 3.5 Jack will be deleted. I do believe we will see a larger battery at minimum. I would love a wireless charger. I am really hoping Apple has a few surprises for the September other than what we hear now. Cook did say we may see a feature in which we would not live without. Rather this be introduced for the iPhone 7 or later, time will tell.

Big fan of wireless charging , hope that comes true.

I would take it with a pinch of salt when TC says we get a feature we cannot live without :) technically I cannot live without a 3.5mm jack :p

This is true, IOS is still a great OS in my opinion. I tried the Samsung Galaxy S4 a few years ago and I didn't like the OS, maybe it's changed since then. TouchWiz in particular was a nightmare, the phone lagged and slowed down over just a few months. There customer service is shocking, I've seen some of the comments on their Facebook page.

Yes I agree, AppleCare is getting more expensive, plus accidental damage carrys a charge so it's not just the initial £110 .

Touchwiz is an issue for sure. Has been for years. It has improved, but still is an issue.

I had a really bad experience with Samsung CS, maybe it was bad luck, dunno, that was years though. Apple have been great.

Unless you buy the top of the range iPhone, AppleCare + is becoming to damn expansive, it's £190 pounds to make a claim and get a replacement 6S, out of warranty it's £250. There used to be a time where getting AC was a no brainier for me .

I paid £70 for AC for a £4000 Mac desktop, some 1.8%. For the iPhone it's about 20%.

That may be because the software's ugly too. Even if you like the look of the UI, it's still a mess in terms of usability, discoverability and user-friendliness. It's also bug-ridden and seemingly tested less and less as time goes on. Given all this, many people can't even point to the exterior and say, well, at least it's a good-looking phone because, alas, it isn't. o_O

Ugly compared to what? Bug ridden? How so? What is it your thinking, Apple does not beta test their software??? iOS compared to what other standard? Discoverability? Can you elaborate on how iOS is tested far less over time? You have a lot of holes in your post.

The exterior is strictly asthetic appeal, which indeed your entitled to your liking. iOS is far greater than Touchwiz per say. I'm not sure what phone your using, but in terms of software, It's evident iOS is far more stable and secure than any other platform right now. Granted iOS is NOT perfect. If you feel iOS not user friendly,
Then I would be interested in your rendition of Touchwiz.

It comes down to what you are used to using. If I was a windows phone user I would say both iOS and android and ackward .

In terms of bugs....sorry but it feels software is being rushed out the door to meet markerting deadlines. Yes it's tested, but it's also buggier than it has been in the past. Annual major releases to push hardware sales are not realistic, fault of markerting and not devs.
