I wonder if they'll hold back supply for a while to make it look like there are shortages due to supposed demand?

I'll have my popcorn ready, the resulting Nerd rage spectacle will be awesome!

Though I guessing it will be saved for he launch of the iPad Pro 2, a machine to replace desktops :p

Yeah the forums would be funny with the rage, but geez there are not that many users left, and many still own the older pro.
[doublepost=1469684048][/doublepost]If they could get the 7 to increase battery life substantially, it would be a killer feature for many, but let's see if they keep it the same and pimp some gimmick features.

Mental note.....use touch 3D this quarter......

Bingo! That's exactly why the Mac Pro is destined to go the way of the dinosaurs. Outside of Apple engineers and a few high-end creative shops, I seriously doubt anyone actually bought one in sufficient numbers to justify its existence.

Sounds more like an iPhone 6M instead of an iPhone 7. (M = Memory)

iPhone 2017 seems to be the sh*t.

- no physical bezels
- glass body
- on screen fingerprint sensor
- long range wireless charging

In my opinion , the 2013 Mac Pro, was a PR move, showing apple could innovate down to such a small size and making huge fanfare about bringing production back to the USA. i think it played out really well for PR.

Just a shame that for professional applications , it was kinda crap. From a design point of view, it's awesome.

3GB of ram? Wishful thinking. Who would upgrade to 7S then?

Next year we're expecting to get a massive case change. I imagine that adding more RAM this year won't stop people from buying the 10th anniversary phone next. Well, some won't. But next year is likely going to be huge in sales.

Back to School promo for Macs ends the day before this event (if it is on that Tuesday Sept 6th), just an observation.

I don't think the phone will have 3GB of RAM because if cellphone RAM is anything like how computer RAM works it would be better to run in dual channel mode for increased bandwidth. So Apple will go from 2 to 4GB of RAM.

Already bought a 128 GB 6S Plus a few weeks ago because I'm not dealing with some dongle. Just no.

But we don't even know what' features the phone is confirmed to have...

I'm very excited about this phone. Some people's expectations are way too high. The design looks great. I don't mind a protruding camera. I'm sure the phone will have great features.

Just wait.
That’s because typically Apple have purported to set the bar as high as possible. You can’t have it both ways. They major on design and release a phone with a sticky outy camera - Even Jony Ive ‘indicated’ that it wasn’t ideal.
I used to upgrade my Apple products regularly simply because I was fortunate to be in a position to do so and also I just wanted to. Wasn’t much of a spec increase but I bought anyway.
Stopped doing that now because recently they are removing features, hiding is acceptable if they want things to appear simple and clean but removing is crap.
It’ll be a good phone undoubtedly but I dunno if I’ll buy this year either.
I’ve had the cash waiting since launch for a 2013 Mac Pro but it’s such a proprietary mess of an appliance I still haven’t bought one. iPhone 6 came out and I passed on that and the 6 plus. Not wanted Android yet but when my 5S gets really old I’ll have to re-evaluate my needs and see if the apps I use regularly will carry over.
They could give the Mac faithfull pretty much what they want and still make a crap ton of money. Better to nickel and dime tho right?

Agreed, it was a powerful statement of engineering ability and design. It also played into Obama's hands at the time, if I recall his state of the union address.

It is beautiful to look at and I wouldn't sneer at one myself - such a computer would last me 10 years.

Functionally though, it's a flop. It's not an upgradeable tower, which arguably makes it useless to the sorts of high-end creative professionals it was aimed at. It can't be rack-mounted, it's not suited to gaming and is too outdated for VR applications. It's too expensive and quite frankly overkill for any class professional who doesn't need all that Xeon and 3D compute power.

Self fulfilling prophecy. Make it expensive, inaccessible and proprietary and less people buy. Less people buy and they invest less. Rinse and repeat.

RAM is soldered onto the chip. They could easily just solder a 3gb RAM chip on there, which does exist even on the PC side of things.

Apple's modus operandi. As I opined in another thread, we're seeing a deliberate plan by Apple to degrade the Mac until their iOS range is more appealing as the primary computing platform. At that point, they'll kill the Mac or if we're lucky, will leave a model or two around for niche uses and developers (assuming the Xcode doesn't come to iOS)

While the current leadership is in place, they're going to make sure the iPad will be the 'vision of the future of personal computing'

The writing's been on the wall for some time now.

I think Apple is just bored with the Mac.

3GB of RAM may have to do with the memory needed to processes images taken with the dual-lens camera. I can imagine the uproar if every time you snapped a photo, all your Safari tabs re-loaded.

I don't understand your question about a 7S. None of the rumors about the 2017 iPhone suggest that Apple will release an "S" model of the 2016 iPhone. I know they've released "S" model iPhone every other year as far back as anyone but me can remember, but it's only four times.

Put another way, Apple is rumored to be removing the frizzing 3.5mm headphone jack. If it strikes their fancy to stop calling every other phone the nS, don't think they won't do it. And what the heck does "S" mean anyway? The first time, they said it stood for "speed", but after that they've left it to users to assign a meaning to the letter.
