Returned my 7+ bc of this was gonna try again sometime next yr. with standby and everything off it drained 10%. Mind boggling. All the tricks people say wont work even DFU restore. Not sure why it does that. It does seem to be software tho.

Yep I've tried everything and nothing works. I have a genuis bar appointment tomorrow night. We'll see what happens.

Overnight with airplane mode it drains 2 percent, so that's good. It uses 6 minutes of "usage". So my hardwre seems to be okay and the drain seems to be antenna related or something. Just wierd that the SE just doesn't have this issue.

I'm still absolutely baffled at what's causing the standby drain on my 7

This app gives a little more detail and system is using no cpu activity according to it ..

Awesome. I just love it when people show battery stats where it clearly says that the phone has been plugged in, rendering them absolutely meaningless.

I didnt notice this actually....
I realize i have almost same battery life on my iphone 7 before... hmmm weird

I still get through a day with my iPhone 7 Plus but I have noticed that the battery is much lower when I place it on the charger at night.

My old iPhone 4 running iOS7 and still on the original battery drops 0% overnight, and that's without airplane mode.

Is that from 100 percent as a starting point? If so, it's not accurate as the intial drain is not linear. Better to report from 90 percent or below.

I use it as a music device these days and if I charge it to 100% it will stay there for a good 10+ hours. Regardless of the drain not being linear it doesn't lose power very quickly at all. Neither does my 6S+

The 5S we use at work also does this. The user gave it away because it had draining issues, but since we use it without his icloud, imessage and stuff (didn't even do a restore) we get that same kinda usage. With a new sim card though.

Have been using the phone while the Watch is on airplane mode; but the phone still managed to put 30 minutes towards usage in 6 hours time. Have used it for 1,5 hour the phone says, but have listened to music twice for 15 minutes and replied to a few messages and of course received a few messages, so I'm willing to say I've used it for an hour in reality.

With the watch paired the phone drops harder though; even with the screen off, which is silly.

By the way; did Music get more battery-intensive since iOS10? I switched to Apple Music because the music app used almost no battery power, but even after 30 minutes it is at the top of my list already and dropped battery by 10 percent.

For the first several weeks my battery drain seemed fine—even better than my 6S (running on 10.0). But since I’ve been running on 10.1 and 10.1.1, I’ve gotten mediocre battery life. The 7 is supposed to run a few hours more than the 6S, but I’ve found that comparable usage gives me about the same battery life on the 7. This is a clean install, too, not from an iCloud or iTunes backup. I’ve tried resetting the network settings, I’ve turned it on and off again, I’ve disabled Location Services, I’ve turned off Background App Refresh, I’ve closed all other apps besides BMSSM, and the CPU Usage hovers right around 22%. Only when I put it in Airplane Mode does the CPU Usage drop to about 4%. Not sure what else I can try, but I do intend on bringing it in to an Apple Store if this continues over the next month.

Having issue here with my ATT iPhone 7 128gb. Done all the usual steps and still having issues. I even did a DFU Restore, set it up as new haven't installed any apps and still I take it off the charger when it is at 100% don't use it at all and check 6 hours later and it is at 60%.

DFU restore set up as new with no apps installed .. unless you kept losing network coverage where you were I'd try and get that phone swapped.

again I unplugged my phone in the middle of the night and next morning, it was down to 95%. Usage was 18minutes, standby was 4hrs+

I think this is ridiculous.

I downloaded a cpu tool from the App Store to show load and compare it with my finances awesome battery iPhone.

both our CPUs were identical, intact my avg was lower than hers.

cpu usage went from as low as 6% spiking to 35-45% for few seconds every few minutes. But hers does the same thing too.

so either I have a bum battery or something else is wrong.

So it drops 40 percent just in standby mode with no usage at all?

Yep! I charged it up again this AM and it is some better, but still pretty bad. 1hr 30m usage, 8 hr 45m standby and is down to 40%... I have an appointment Friday.

Well good luck with that. They'll probably tell you your battery is fine and send you on your way. That's what they did with me.

Sounds like yours is similar to mine .. battery loses 2% on average every hour just in standby? But ... in actual usage when im doing something with my phone the battery lasts very well and drains slowly.

Mine also shows low cpu usage (as low as 3% at times) and I can't find any reason for the standby drain. Shame there's no app that monitors how much power is being used from the battery so you could monitor and compare that.

Have you contacted Apple yet and what did they say?

My iPhone 7 "seemed" considerably worse than my iPhone 6s. Never tested, exchanged for a 7 plus which has been great.

This is my batter life from the first full charge - iPhone 7. Really impressed, nearly 2 days standby and heavy GPS usage using satnav for over 4 hours. Bluetooth permanently on, as well as location services as my home heating adjusts itself automatically dependant on how far I am from my house.
