Imagine how many more sales they would get from people who thought it was worth buying this time around. I'm skipping the 7 this year.
Just like any year, there are those who skip. When the iPhone 6 was released (an astounding success), there were people who skipped because they didn't want a "phablet." Some of the skippers were people who had previously upgraded every year.

Next year's iPhone is rumored to be a game-changer. Some loyal iPhone fans will skip that one, too. They don't want their game changed.

#1 - The iPhone 7+ looks like a really solid upgrade to me. If it weren't for the fact that my iPhone 6+ is still going strong and next year's iPhone is set to be an even better upgrade from the 7+ than from the 6S+ to 7+, I'd think about it. I don't know why people keep talking about the 7+ like it isn't amazing.

#2 - I think this reflects T-Mobile being a growing carrier more than the 7/7+ selling a lot better than past phones. The phone market is pretty saturated at this point and I don't think the general public cares that much about upgrading, no matter how great the upgrade is. I think this reflects T-Mobile stealing market share from Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon.

I'm sure your anecdotal experience is indicative of the entire reason they sold more phones, oh and sprint is reporting the same thing.

Woah back off the troll juice - who said anything about "the entire reason"? Simply stating a fact with the opinion of not being alone in that bus of frustration in ordering full-pay and still having to credential on AT&T.

No question the phone is selling well across the board, move along...

The 6SS is selling well. Not bad for what is essentially last years phone, with an upgraded camera and some new colours

3 words... "artificially limited supply" LOL so much for big bad Apple taking phones away from people. Actually, just like every other year, the websites couldn't handle the millions of people trying to get on them at the same time.

Apple started manually having people phoning in to preorder the iPhone 7 instead of using a web site for IUP (upgrade program) users. That's how you make the supply seem even smaller.

That's when I will likely buy. I skipped the 5 and 6 and bought the 6+, the 6S and 6S+. I've realized that there really isn't a point in buying every years iPhones anymore.

Wasn't everyone saying the 6s was a stupid update and everyone with a 6 was waiting for the 7? It's all up to the consumer. And, when the galaxy hits the news with exploding phones and lawsuits from a phone blowing up in a child's hands, that can only help sell more iPhones.

We switched to T-Mobile last year after being with AT&T since 1998. At that time we had three iPhones sharing 3GB of data. I was constantly sending data warnings to our daughter, who used all the data. For about the same price we got a plan with 10GB each; overkill for my wife and I as we're almost always on WiFi but necessary for my 25-year-old son. And T-Mobile is so much easier to deal with than AT&T was. The coverage is great where we live, better than AT&T's.

We upgraded 2 6s's to a 7 and 7+, Jet Black. I'm having second thoughts and might see what the local store has on launch day (assuming we don't receive our phones that day, which is unlikely).

Of course there's a point. Every iPhone has some new features that you're missing out on if you don't upgrade. The real question is whether the new features are worth the opportunity costs. So far, I've bought every non-S iPhone. I spend a year with the latest and greatest, and a year experiencing mild envy. The envy just hasn't been enough to get me to buy the 'S' models.

No wonder I'm having to wait an extra week to get my 7+. I usually don't care about companies, but I'm happy for TMO. They have worked hard to be customer friendly, and are getting rewarded for their work.

T-Mobile.... it doesn't count as a sale until you charge my damned card and give me a tracking number!

Your post reminded me of my life with my kids. My wife and I would use less than 1gig and my one son and one of my daughters were using all the data. But, since I get 28% off of AT&T through work and my daughter works at AT&T, I upped to unlimited on AT&T for $60 more. Now each of the 5 lines has 22gig before throttling. Way overkill for me and my wife lol - I'm sure the kids will end up being throttled

Apples doomed. Steve would have never done x,y,z. Complain about headphone jack but want larger battery. Blah blah blah
But the huge vibrator (or Taptic feedback in marketing speak) is clearly more important than a jack. Yeah. That's great planning.

My brother worked for AT&T (Cingular before that) and is now retired. He gets those kinds of deals but I doubt he or his wife will ever use 500MB in a month let alone several gigs. My son still hasn't touched his 20GB data stash, but he's headed toward it this month. Kids.

It is.

Feel free to keep your 6S or switch to android if you need that jack. Clearly sales indicate you are the minority.

iPhones have been successful since June 29, 2007 and this year will be more continued success.

You must have missed the 2016 doom & gloom from analysts and so-called "tech pundits".

As soon as I saw them unveil the phone at the keynote I knew it would smash the 6S sales numbers.

Same. My lust detector unexpectedly activated during the event.

A lot of those tmobile phones were ordered for other networks since it was the easiest way to buy an unlocked phone....

Interesting side note. The phone that blew up in the child's hand was a Galaxy Core. That may explain why at least one airline is asking people to turn off all Samsung phones.

Your joking, right?
1) This article is talking about T-Mobile selling them. Their website did not go down.
2) Nothing in the article suggested anything about supply. These are iPhones sold

And even more interestingly, the Samsung that exploded severely burning a South Korean man on May, 30th was a Galaxy S7.

Let's brace ourselves for Samsungapocalypse.

Has more to do with them and others giving a free phone to the Iphone 6 people like myself. Note 7 exploding also added several million I'm sure.
