As silly as the entire announcement was, I kind of like the idea of wireless earbuds. But I do wonder what their replacement will be and how well they remain in the ear area. Not every ear is the same.

That jet black will look like it lost a fight on a bus full of drag queens on their way to a wig sale within a week.

This is an incredibly specific remark. Apple insider joke?

A £9 adapter? Well that merely proves just how overpriced every other adapter is.

Pity they felt the need to increase prices across the board, however (e.g. Lightning to SD now £29...)

Why not USB-C? Why the disconnect between macbook and iOS products? Can't seamlessly switch headphones or chargers between their own products. Sigh!

People threw a massive fit when Apple replaced the decade’s old 30 pin connector with lightening. They partially comforted people by saying that is going to now be the port for a long time to come thus screwing themselves out of changing that port out anytime soon.

Well one thing's for sure ... the way Phil emphasized the headphone jack as a single function port suggests we'll see Lightning added to the MacBook possibly next month.

Not sure how on earth you've come to that conclusion. We certainly won't. Much more likely you'll see the new MB's ship with the wireless chip instead.

The new MBP's as we've seen are going to be all USB-C everything, a port that can replace everything (but no I don't honestly think it should be on the iPhone as lightning works fine as a standard there)

I wonder if the 6S/6S+ will remain treasured and sought-after for years -- at least for those who value physical home button and headphone jack -- as the "last iPhone" to have those things.

Or, if not exactly "treasured" -- if they at least won't drop in price (on the used market) to the same degree that previous-gen iPhones usually do.

That will make a huge difference on the rMB for some. Something else that signals Lightning ports in the Macs is the fact there was no mention of an adapter to plug the Lightning headphones into a 3.5mm jack source -- like the Mac. I'm very curious to see how Apple updates the MFi specs and what kinds of adapters start showing up in the Apple Store.

I'm really hoping that Apple has updated the Lightning charging cable in the box with a passthrough port. They're essentially already doing it on the external battery case, they just need to reduce that down to the end of a cable, and that would go a long way toward satisfying a lot of people. I really hope Apple manages to limit the adapters to a minimum. And I hope they stop including it for free in the 7s just as they stopped including the dock with the original iPhone.

LIGHTNING TO 3.5mm ADAPTER IS $9.00!!

$9.00 !!!!!

This has to be some kind of new record for Apple!
That's almost a dollar cheaper than the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 adapter!

To be fair, that didn't cripple it's functionality. At the moment, there doesn't appear to be an adapter that will allow you to both charge and use your headphones at the same time. Not sure about other users but I do this all the time.

Hmm - from The Verge piece:

Another thing I tried: the new home button, which uses a "taptic engine" to give you physical feedback when you press it — it's pressure sensitive too, so it can tell if you really mean to press it or just tap it. And it's awful. On a MacBook trackpad, you get this uncanny feeling that you're actually hitting a button. On the iPhone, the whole bottom of the phone just sort of "kicks." It's not bad haptics like you remember, with weird vibration, it's just a new kind of bad haptics. It doesn't feel like a button at all. It's a bummer.

You know what they're like. I'm sure it'll feel fine. You'll soon get used to it.

For someone who thought AirPods would be upwards of 200$, I think I'm pretty happy with the pricing.

Although I have just one massive question, supposedly if I drop them while running or they just happen to fall on their own cause of movement, is there something to track them?! Like a beacon or something!

I'd certainly hate to lose these.
cue the new airpod accessories neck band...
