Tim Cook, lying in his enormous bath tub, is laughing his butt off over pictures of people camping in front of his Apple Stores, days ahead of the actual product launch, sent to his iPhone, by employees that make only a tiny fraction of his salary, but can tell the difference between actual innovation and tax optimization.

There needs to be 'tip of the hat' emoticon on MR. Thank you for putting some things into perspective (not enough of that around here unfortunately).

The only time I ever waited in line (1 am - 6 am ) was for a Black Friday laptop deal at Staples in 2005.. Never again for such trivial and material goods.

Camping out is a blast, I did it for the 6 and want to do it again next time I upgrade. You meet tons of people, there is a ton of excitement in the air, and everyone is just happy to be there. Anyone who calls themselves a true Apple fan should try the campout at least once, it's an awesome experience.

Not even the Craigslist scalpers are interested in the iPhone 7. I only see two, one for jet black 7 and another for jet black 7+.

Probably just scalpers trying to flip for a quick buck or people doing some sort of self promotion.

The scalpers in Vancouver are so easy to spot. Always a bunch of people who stand in line and then just before opening their "boss" comes by and gives them cash to buy whatever maximum is allowed. Then they leave the store and hand over the phones to the same guy who pays them for standing in line.

I'm tempted to go line up myself. There's always some idiot who simply has to have the newest stuff as soon as it comes out and based on the ads on Craigslist you could probably flip a 7P for $200 more than you paid. Pretty easy money.

Just like every launch... it'll be crazy for a day to a week, and then will look like this again....

Also known as "privileged people pretend to go camping".

More like priviledged people paying others to pretend to go camping. ;) Would bet, esp. in NYC that those camping out this early are either paid by VIPs or scalpers, not "regular" people intending to use for their own purpose. They are likely lining up for a Jet Black 7+.

That's 40 hours from launch, and say you do make a $200 premium, that means your time to stand in line is worth 5 bux an hour. Really?!?!?! LOL

Where do you live? None of the stores here are ever like this, even at closing time. Annoying if you need something honestly. Wish they were empty like that.

Split time between San Diego and San Francisco... and it was hyperbole. They're not like that here or there, but relative to launch day they are far more subdued. Some stores in lesser metro areas are dead. I was in Boise once and I was the only customer among a sea of employees.

When you don't want to be bothered, 20 of them come and ask if they can help. When you do need help, or something as simple as ringing something up, it can be like pulling teeth to get someone.

LMAO! That's so true of most stores though.

the iPhone is 5 years behind android phones.android has had wireless charging since at least when the nexus 4 come out and we have fast charging to and bigger batteries and expandable memory and custom roms and displays up to 2k or 4k.

Why 5? Let's go for 50 years behind... the iPhone doesn't have a stylus
