iPhone 7 Lines Start Growing Ahead of Friday's Launch

I would guess that the biggest risk to humanity is sheer hatred, ugliness and lack of empathy and caring about all of mankind, not just the ones who think like I do.

Or maybe it really is waiting in line.
They're both in the genome somewhere.

I've done this now for the last two iPhones, with my experience it's not worth it anymore, it took longer and longer and now pre ordering online takes you 5 mins and your done not 4 hours on a work day

With pre-orders and home deliveries these days I don't see much point in waiting for lines logistically. However if people want to feel the atmosphere and do this then let them go.
Would only be worth it if Apple gave away merchandise or a free iPhone for the first person

It’s a phone. Just a phone. I might appear aloof for saying this but jeez, I think they need to get some perspective. Cos at the end of the day it’s a phone. Just a phone.

Any thoughts on people screaming at a tv screen at people they don't know running around with a ball?

LOL I want to try this at some point

I've done that, not days ahead, don't have that kind of time but just the morning of the release date. The entire experience was boring, BUT meeting all the people was a lot of fun. Our side of the lines started playing games, we had a few people go get starbucks for everyone. I gained like 3 clients for my business. Shared a bunch of stories, all in all, at the end, didn't care about the iPhone, but still got one. Had a good time meeting the people. I can say, people were...normal. Not stupid, liberals, or whatever the f... people say here the people are that stay in line.

That's probably more of rare story.

I really don't understand why? The 7/7s is so readily available that most carriers are giving them away with a free tradein. I guess just to be first to have it, and then test it's waterproof-ness on youtube. and then have apple deny the warranty claim. and we also need to bend it.

Although I don't understand why folks would camp out other than social interaction, I guess it puts to bed the Tech Media's incessant claims that the iPhone 7 would be met with a collective "meh" from consumers.
Also, I wouldn't call mid October readily available. Plus not all companies are "giving them away" and, in some cases, only applies to certain models with a convoluted billing credit plan. I don't give up my old iPhone away in any event. I pass them along to family members. My iP6 is in great shape and works well.

Tim Cook, lying in his enormous bath tub, is laughing his butt off over pictures of people camping in front of his Apple Stores, days ahead of the actual product launch, sent to his iPhone, by employees that make only a tiny fraction of his salary, but can tell the difference between actual innovation and tax optimization.

I waited in line for 4 hours for my Tesla Model 3 because it was the difference between getting it in 2017 and getting it in 2018.

Why would you wait in line for 48 to shave ~160 hours off the time it takes to get your iPhone?

160 hours? More like 90 days. Most popular configurations now "shipping in November". Of course, they should have just stayed up until 12:01PST anyway, but that's too late now.

Are you some perv imagining Tim Cook laying in his bathtub laughing his ass?

Have there ever been queues like this for an Android phone?

It will never happen. Android phones from different OEM's are released on a monthly basis. There are just too many flagship devices to build the same level of demand. Is this really a bad thing for Android? I don't believe so.

What makes you the dictator of what people can and cannot spend their money on? For some people, these are assistive tech devices. I'm unemployed and own several Apple products. I spend almost no money on anything but food and shelter, saving the rest for these few devices that make my life a little more comfortable and convenient (and I hope eventually my tech expenditures will help me sell photography and/or music or tech contracting work for some flex money).

That just tells me you don't live within your means.

Personally I would never do this because it's much more convenient to order online and have it delivered to your door these days (which I find more exciting than I would queuing for hours/days with a bunch of strangers). But I hate when people call this pathetic just because they don't understand it. I'm betting most queuing are tech geeks who are passionate about Apple, is it any sadder than someone being passionate about fashion which are just clothes? Then queuing up to spend vasts amounts of money on said clothes? Or someone going to football games every year? Or someone going to see their favourite bands and camping outside at music festivals? Of course not because that's seen as normal. These people go for a similar experience as the above I mentioned. It's "just a phone" to those people so they see it as stupid, just like some of those tech geeks would find it stupid spending too much money on clothes or a football game. Stop dragging people down and making them feel bad just because it doesn't interest you and you don't understand the passion. It really is no different to anything else when you think about it.
