All these iPhones since the 6 with aluminum casing are just way too slippery in the hands unless your hands are sweaty and greasy 24/7. I hate cases and always wanted to use it naked, but I end up with a case at the end of the day. So the jet black finally comes out that's actually grippy. I've tried it for 2 weeks and realized although with the grip, the design and the ergonomics with the thinness is still uncomfortable. Especially when you're holding it in landscape mode to watch videos for a long time. The 5, 5s and SE series are perfect naked. What apple needs to do is make thicker so there is something to hold (eliminates camera bump, mind as well add a bigger battery while at it), or eliminate the rounded edges. Also use ceramic glass casing for the back as it's less prone to scratches and adds grip like the 4 and the 4s. WE DONT NEED THE THINNEST PIECE OF GLASS SHEET IN THE WORLD, JONY!

Nice case for iPhone 7 is Spigen Case Thin Fit or Case AirSkin - Black.
Matte Black owners could choose glossy color similar as Jet Black iPhone if they want to change look little.
If I win iPhone 7 on giveaway I will buy AirSkin or Thin Fit. No joking with so expensive cell phone and iPhone in excellent condition worth more when you sell him for upgrade.
Manufacturer say customers will barely notice their lovely iPhone inside AirSkin (thinnest) Thin Fit (second thinnest).

Best option for me is a transparent skin on the body and the screen, it's as close as you can get to going naked without worrying about scratching.

I have a transparent skin on mine and it's annoyed me from the first second I put it on. It also catches so many tiny clothing fibers (dust?) along the seams/edges -- it drives me nuts. I think I might just go naked.

Other folks might have had better luck.

The people who are complaining about how slippery the iPhone 6 and 7 are those who are afraid to hold it. I don't know how to describe it, but you just need to grab it and hold it normally. If you are afraid and cautious, and try too hard to hold it gingerly, you may drop it. Just grab it and hold it naturally. I have tried a bunch of cases, and none of them are satisfactory for me.

I also tried the transparent skins in the past. They still totally change the feel and look of the device, and the corners and edges get nasty dust and lint deposits. No thanks.

I used to drop my 5 a lot. When I thought about my reasoning for holding it the way I did (which resulted in me dropping it) I realized it was because I wanted to avoid putting fingerprints on my screen.

Once I realized that it changed everything for me. I can wipe fingerprints off my screen and it costs me nothing. Crack a screen, dent a corner and it's going to be a lot more expensive. Now I don't care about putting fingerprints on it because I want to prevent accidents.

Just adding to this is all…

Exactly. Hold it like butter, and it will be like butter. Don't be afraid to hold it, and you will be fine.

I've had my matte black iPhone 7 for about a week. I initially had the Apple silicone case on it, but I really missed seeing the beauty of the phone's design and materials. So for the last two days, I ditched the case and have been carrying my iPhone 7 naked. I am reasonably careful, but I am not babying it by any means. And using this phone naked makes a world of a difference for me. It's so light, sleek, and beautiful. And the matte black finish does not seem to scratch at all. I was seriously considering getting the jet black, but I think I made the right choice.
I bought the silver because it doesn't show scuffs and scratches. Btw, how is the camera lens holding up? I heard it scratches easily.

I saw iPhone 7 Plus in live first time... One girl show me in market her cell phone.
And only confirm fact that iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black is better naked.
Phone is incredible and girl was so nice, and phone smell on some excellent perfume.
Elegance is obvious, but it's huge for first impression...:) Definitely I would not complain even with so big phone.
But iPhone 7 Matte Black Naked + thin Tempered Glass with nice edges is perfect option.

BSE body protection full body wrap skin is the only one that I use, its perfect for about six months to a year and doesn't cause any lint or fibers catching issues. I change it at least once a year, it starts yellowing a little after 8-10 months or so.

I wish I had the courage to use my 7+ naked. It really is a gorgeous phone. But, as other have said its way too slippery. I love this $15 Spigen case. It matches the shade of black perfectly and gives me a grippy feel.

What's the big deal. Naked jb here.
There have been MANY comments showing that the Matte Black is more slippery than the JB, so yes, it is a big deal. This thread is specific to the Matte Black.

I have a Matte Black and it's rarely used without the Apple Leather Case. Even with AppleCare+, I'm afraid to go case-less.

I don't know the look of the saddle brown leather with the matte black is gorgeous and minimalistic enough.

Personally in love with this combo on my 7 Plus.

The leather case looks and feels like it belongs on the iPhone.

How do you naked iPhoners hold it while typing with 2 hands? That's the scariest part for me. When it's naked, it feels like it's just balancing there and at any moment I could be bumped or just simlpy fumble it.

With the leather case on it, not only is it protected from scratches and short drops, but it adds enough heft, grip and comfort that I think it's worth having.

I have an Apple black leather case on my matte black 7 Plus. Love it.

If I need two hands to type something then it's importance has shifted enough to require a computer.
