As pointed out in post #63, AppleCare plus might not be that good a "bomb proof" as expected.

Seriously? You would want to go through the crap of getting a new phone and hopefully setting it up successfully? And all the paperwork that's involved to get your new phone?
I'll pass. Otterbox Defender and a tempered glass screen protector for me

Really? It's not as stupid as you would think.

If Apple thought it was cost effective to make a phone that didn't need a case to protect it in falls, don't you think they would, so that other people could see that iphone users were using an iphone?

It's more expensive to make the current shatter-prone tapered glass

Yeah, it was "meant" to be used caseless...... until the first time you drop it and discover a nice little dent on the corner of your beautiful matte black iPhone. I've got mine in a Caudabe Sheath and don't think twice. Phone is still slim, case looks classy and provides more grip, and I never have to worry about butterfingers.

I've had my matte black iPhone 7 for about a week. I initially had the Apple silicone case on it, but I really missed seeing the beauty of the phone's design and materials. So for the last two days, I ditched the case and have been carrying my iPhone 7 naked. I am reasonably careful, but I am not babying it by any means. And using this phone naked makes a world of a difference for me. It's so light, sleek, and beautiful. And the matte black finish does not seem to scratch at all. I was seriously considering getting the jet black, but I think I made the right choice.
I also have the MB and tried it case-less but the camera bump got to be to annoying on flat surfaces. A bit wobbly. In any case I found a nice leather shell minimalistic case from Burkey. Get it in a couple of days. I have found that a very minimal case that levels out the back and gives some grippiness works best for me. That dang camera hump hanging out there in the breeze is what bugs me the most going caseless.

I liked the look of the matte black, but ultimately chose the gold. I guess it didn't really matter because as soon as I purchased it the phone went into a protective case.

Or…you can not drop it. As I've mentioned before, my 6s+ is over a year in with no dents, no scratches, no dings and a still perfect screen.

See this is one of the things case users have. Stick it in a case, forget about it and don't worry about how the device is moved around, where it's set down, etc. All your faith is invested in the case and if the device breaks while it's in the case then it's the case manufacturer's fault and not the carelessness of the case user.

This is a big reason those who use cases have such a hard time going caseless. They are used to not thinking about the device and just throwing it around willy nilly and that mindset fails them when the device has no case.

And some case users take this a step farther. They don't want to think about where their phone is and how it's being handled. It's a deliberate and willfull indifference.

That may or may not be you, some case users simply get a case because no matter how careful they are they are clumsy. But in general I find this to be true of many case users.

The device can be handled carefully without a case and survive without problems - if one is willing to engage in situational awareness. But many case users don't want to engage and their justification is that the device is "too slippery".

i don't mind using my 7 plus without a case at home but when it's cold outside i would just be bit nervous i would drop it but should i really worry when it's insured? maybe not as my bank does cover all kinds but still not ideal.

I'm considering using a sleeve like i did previously.

Used my iPhone 7 Plus matte black naked all day today and feels good. Sometimes you gotta just use as it comes. Not saying I will tomorrow but for now feeling good!

There's another reason I bought an iPhone as oppose to a Pixel and that's because of the countless variety of cases in the market both online and in stores. So for me using a case is not just for protection but for aesthetics as well,i get bored very quickly.
