Why even call it the iPhone 7?
Should be iPhone 6SS.
The antenna lines are different, yawn...
Can't they come up with something new, design-wise?

Nah, better the 6SE,
but... these numbers are getting old. no need for the 6. It will be the iPhone SE, and the lines will be unified.

Definitely same here, and I really don't think it's popular belief. Sure, it's popular belief amongst internet nerds, like here in Macrumors but I'm inclined to believe the mainstream customer base won't be complaining much about having a thinner and lighter device.

Yeah. Thinner and lighter device is easy to manoeuvre with. Easy on my hands, especially when I am chatting/tweeting for more than a few hours. Easy in the pockets. I'm even quite happy with my battery life.

Gosh! Enough with the thinning of the device, already. The device is thin enough already. Improve the battery for goodness sake. Shaving off fractions of millimetres... rubbish!
We're moving toward flexible devices that can be put in your pocket like a piece of paper, bending with your body as you sit or move, maybe even folding, all without breaking. It's an evolution. To get there, we have to take steps toward it.

WTF is wrong with these people?! Who TF wants a thinner phone?! I don't need to slice bread with my phone. Just add a decent battery for F* sake!

I have never played the "When Steve was around..." game because I wanted to give Apple a chance. But this company is clearly becoming a joke. Customer care has become is BS, software development is pathetic..does it really take this little amount of time to screw up a once respected company?!

I think the joke is your comment. The Iphone has the best battery life in the business, considering it has a lower volume than the S7, a higher real life performance and throttles less, its battery life is spectacular.

I do work on my iPhone. Because that is the reason why I bought a smartphone. Checking emails, working with keynote cutting films with iMovie for our company blog when I am on location! At 3pm I have to charge my damn iPhone. Make it thicker with mor battery life. God damn it!

You do know that is has a leading battery life (especially the 6s+).
That your usage would kill just about any phone; seem you don't.

Apple cannot give the 1% like you 50% more battery life if every one else is perfectly happy with their battery life.

If you're so unhappy, go find another phone (Android) that will throttle doing the job you're doing and yet, still not last as long under such a load. Miracles in battery tech have not yet arrived, but battery case do exist.

They target the largest user group; the rest have to add a battery case because the phone doesn't cater to your whim.

I know these are only rumors at this point, but Ming-Chi Kuo is usually pretty accurate. It kinda makes sense that Apple is gonna save the radical redesign for 2017 with the iPhone "7S"...even tho that's usually the version that gets the minor cosmetic update. Not only isn't the Liquidmetal/curved glass with AMOLED screen tech not ready for 2016, but 2017 is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. What better way to wow everyone on the anniversary than with a BIG visual change. If it was just your usual looking meh "s" upgrade, it wouldn't really be deserving of the 10th anniversary. Makes sense.

If this is truly Apple's motive, then it will be the first time since Steve Jobs return Apple has celebrated an anniversary with a special product, and something Steve Jobs was dead set against doing.

I really hope this is not what iPhone 7 looks like,I'm so bored and tired of this boring design.
they really should come up with something fresh and nice, really don't like 6/6s design.
they should learn a thing or two from Galaxy S7 /Edge's design.
No matter how much you prefer iOS to Android (I do),you can't deny the design of S7/Edge is so much superior to 6/6s/and this iPhone 7 concept.

The Bitter Battery Brigade is really getting vocal.

I am all for continuing to make these products as thin and light as possible. Battery life is more than acceptable as is. You that want more battery life are free to use Morphie cases or mobile charge packs. If you got your wish--a brick with 2 days of battery life instead of 1--there is not much we who want thin and light could do to get what we want out of such a device.

It's like summer vs winter. You can always put more clothes on and bundle up if you are cold. There is only so much you can strip off if you are too hot, though.

Sounds like they spent plenty of time figuring out how to make it thinner but couldn't figure out a way to make the bezel on the top smaller, great..

Wow!
That's SUPER impressive that you somehow managed to surmise that about the bezel by a rumor about smaller antennas...
or did your clever conclusion come from looking at the fake image clearly marked - "mockup of what the iPhone 7 might look like"??

Good news is that the iPhone in 2017 is rumored to have a glass front and back with a curved screen, just like the S7 Edge

Does anyone REALLY care about thinness? I mean is there even a real benefit to the overall thinness of a smart phone or laptop? In my opinion the thinner a product is the more of a chance the product has to over heat...

Don't need it thinner, need a bigger battery so I don't have to encase it in a much heavier and thicker battery case.

Not fussed about the design one way or another. It's going into a case no matter what. Still, I'll add to the chorus of users wondering about longer battery life.

What's more, I think it's about time to give springboard the boot. My apps are all organised into folders, yet I still feel cluttered. Still square icons on a grid.

Yet, it doesn't even under a big load.
If they made the 6s as thick as the 5s and filled the extra space with battery, it would be a much heavier phone that's harder to handle and would not fit in the pocket of many people (heavy and big = unwieldy). The 6s+ in particular would likely two times heavier.

I thought I would never say this but I don't care about the iPhone 7 as my iPhone 6s Plus is all I need for many years. I beleaguered this is what many iPhone owners are saying.

Apple we need some new products, and if not, you will see Apple go down the drain in 10 years.

Yet where is this creativity when it comes to battery tech?

[doublepost=1459490008][/doublepost]Apple should be introducing solid state battery soon

From Patently Apple:

In late November Apple was granted their first patent for a new kind of battery known as the solid-state battery. Such batteries could be used for mobile and wearable devices as well as cars, according to Toyota. Last week we quickly discovered that this single granted patent had now mushroomed into being a a new focused trend with four new patent applications for this next-gen battery on record. Every Apple fan on the planet wants to have longer lasting battery life to keep their iDevices running all day and hopefully for many days without recharging. Whether solid state batteries will be Apple's final answer to our battery woes is unknown at this time, but for those in this field that want to know more about what Apple is thinking about regarding this new technology, check out the following patent Applications that surfaced last week at the US Patent and Trademark Office:

1) Thin Film Battery with Magnetic Components

2) Thin Film Battery Structures Having Sloped Cell Sidewalls

3) Devices And Methods For Reducing Battery Defects, and

4) Thin Film Battery Assemblies

It is not that bad, it is definitely a nice looking phone, but yeah, nothing more. I agree, it's hard to live up to the legacy of the iPhone 4. Sometimes I still catch a few in people's hands on the subway (without a case) and always say to myself: damn this thing still looks beautiful.

I know it's completely subjective, but my rating on a scale of 1 to 10 for iPhones design-wise wold look like this:

iPhone 2G: 8
iPhone 3G/3GS: 7
iPhone 4/4S: 10
iPhone 5: 9
iPhone 5S: 8.5
iPhone 6/6S: 7

(I suspect this year's iPhone will be a "8")

Let me know about your opinion. ; )
