Well reading between the lines that's another knife in the back for any hopes of the smaller model getting more features compared to the Plus model, if nothing they may reduce its features even more I guess now?
Would be so nice to see a bezeless 5" model..
I feel your pain brother. I'd pay the same price they charge the plus for the 4.7"... if it packed the same features

I was holding for the iPhone 7S or 8 but because of the buy one get one free promo on AT&T, I jumped in from my 5S. Pretty happy. The 7+ is pretty solid and fast. Great camera.

Love my 7 Plus. I surprisingly adjusted well to the size of it. But It's worth the advantages over the 4.7 variant with the dual camera and 1080 P screen.

My wife has the 7 Plus and I am trying to figure out a workable way to carry it. I have the 6S and really like the larger screen on hers. I just don't know if I can make it work with a rugged case for pocket carry. I am looking forward to a bezeless model.

I thought you don't need more than 3.5"? Guess all the apologists are wrong again.

She was lying to you.

Tim how about doing something with the larger screen?

i swear the apple software team is on vacation.

we have **** mail app, siri, calendar, and ios that doesn't offer anything more other than rotating icons in landscape

but open that app then it goes back to portrait .

I'll be the 1st to say this but Steve Jobs would have never let that happen.
If Steve was here who knows if we would even have a big iphone.

It's not because 7+ is superior but because 7 is inferior.
True. I bought 7+, too 'cause after 1+1 I couldn't stand the low resolution display on 7. It's obsolete.

Surprisingly, it's easier for me to use 7+ with one hand than smaller 1+1.

At least there's a reason now other than size to go with the Plus. When the 6+ came out the only other major selling point seemed to be that you could rotate it into landscape mode. ...snip
"Major selling point" is subjective.
Screen rotation was not the only difference between 6 and 6+.

Might the latest quarter "record sales" have something to do with the Samsung Battery debacle? Not being a downer, just haven't seen this pointed out anywhere.
Most of the Note customers went with an S7/Edge. Even if the Note users had gone with a 7+, it wouldn't have been a really significant boost to the 7+ sales. The Note had an "outsized" reputation but was never a big volume seller.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who like the phablet sizes. The sales seem to bear that out. However my iPhone 6 is my last iPhone until they update the 4" iPhone. Last year's SE is nice but I won't pay full price for last year's tech. I think people underestimate the appeal and need for the 4" phone.

Sure, they're rarer nowadays as companies are searching for a higher average selling price. But I think, and sales of the SE bear this out, that there is plenty of market for the smaller form factor. Just don't make it crippled in functionality.

Not surprising. Many people were holding off upgrading to the larger models and the 7 Plus is by far, the best phone Apple has made.
I wanted to buy Google Pixel XL but I don't like fingerprint scanner on the back and headphone jack on top so I had to settle for 7+ but looking forward to the next Pixel XL.

That makes no sense. Why do you think he wouldn't want a large phone? Are you having other worldly conversations with him. In fact, I know he was in favor of a larger phone.
Because he always said phones should be for one handed use. That was his whole point of taking the mick out of bigger phones at the time. Being able to touch the top of the device with one hand.

I swear people think Steve Jobs made amazing decisions each time and it would just carry on each year as other companies got better. If anything he was stubborn

I carry my iPhone caseless, so it's not to much of an issue when in the front pocket. Unless your the type of guy who wears skinny jeans. Haha. It's really a matter of adjustment over time.

But I too would appreciate a bezeless design. I think it's coming in September 2017.

At what cost though?? The rumours are so unclear but I do hope they replace the current models with a 5" and 5.8" bezeless design. At the same price. Rather then some mega expansive limited anniversary edition phone.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. THEY GAVE THE PHONE AWAY FOR FREE (or close to it)! Of course the phone is popular when the price is $100 after the credit most carriers were giving away, an unprecedented act in the history of the iPhone. Mine was $200. It's disingenuous of him to act like the this was a huge sales success when it was orders of magnitude cheaper for a large percentage of owners than the 6 and 6S was.

I went from iPhone 6 Plus to iPhone 7. I would never go back to such a huge phone.
well if you use it primarily and mainly as a "phone" then standard size is definitely the way to go.
if however it's mainly a web surfing devices,(think something like a mini tablet) then the Plus is the winner.
price difference is irrelevant.
