I had an AT&T iPhone 7 Plus on preorder, and I reserved and picked up one at the Apple Store without cancelling my preorder.

My ordeal was harrowing. Take a seat ladies and gents, but I caution you that this tale is not for the faint of heart.
I went into a chat to see make sure that there were some definitely available. There were and of course it took 5 minutes for the order to cancel. Then it took 9,930,274,738 button clicks to get to "Oh wait-- there really aren't any available" on the website. He kept saying that his inventory was showing it still available, so he contacted the store and had them hold one for me. All I could think about when I cancelled the order was saying Merry Christmas to my new phone if it didn't work but it all worked out in the end.
Ok maybe it wasn't harrowing. I figure if I hadn't snagged one at the store then probably our ship dates would suddenly update because if they were suddenly widely available there would be no reason they wouldn't.
So I ordered 2 mb 128 plus, 1 jb 128 plus and 1 7 rose gold 128. I really wanted the matte black but when I saw that 7 apple stores in my area had the 128 and 256 jb plus I went to the apple store and reserved three jb plus's. Just canceled my verizon pre-order and will be picking up the plus models.

question, order from Target or do the Apple IUP?
i'm kind of torn, i usually upgrade every year. this will be my 1st time doing the iup, and ive never bought at target before
i know it's a ways off, but what will pre-ordering be like next year with apple?
i'm upgrade eligible with sprint now and i could lease it, but would it be the best option?

also, the 200$ target gift card is for a new line only
the red card would take 5% off of the taxes

kept looking at http://www.istocknow.com/live/ and saw a JB 7+ 256gb pop up in Delaware. However, the reservation site wouldn't let me reserve it. Got on a chat session with Apple and was sent a link that allowed me to reserve the phone.
When I showed up I was told I could only purchase via the IUP program; I wanted to just purchase outright for full price. Negotiated with the Manager to do a full purchase as long as I opened the box in store and set up with ATT. Did so then cancelled the order for the black 7+ 128 gb while still in the store.
Happy camper. Never thought I would get a JB color.
I did like the Samsung Note 7 but was forced to return it. Pulled it out in a meeting yesterday and people freaked. You would have thought I put a hand grenade on the table. Seriously. 😱

I can't pick it up because they said it hasn't processed yet but order confirmation says pick up today... apple said my credit card hasn't clear the funds but I called my CC and they said it's been cleared and just waiting for Apple to take the money...so they said maybe it's ready in another hour..

We get up in the middle of the night; order iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black 256Mb 10 min after it became available for preorder. a.) Don’t get one on release day b.) Then get a November delivery. c.) Now learn they are in Apple Stores before shipping to loyal preorder customers.
Why did Apple introduce a product they couldn’t deliver? Ordering minuets after pre ordering comes online, and the fun of being the first one on the block with a new iPhone was killed this year by Apple’s mismanagement. Never again, this Apple Fanboy is truly disgusted.

I can't even pick mine up because they haven't even processed it... my checkin window was 6/6:30..

Keep us updated. I paid in full like you as I didn't want to do the Upgrade Program and am driving almost two hours to the store tomorrow to get mine at my checkout time and am so nervous there will be a problem. Hope yours all worked out, let us know.
