However, anyone that actually thinks there will be MULTIPLE versions of the Plus, with only the camera distinction is out of their tree!!! The Plus is already $100 more... soooo what another $20 for the dual camera model?? Lol. No... It's not going to get that convoluted. If it's constrained, it's constrained. Open mind, open heart.

Apple didn't take god's perfect form factor and button location, they simply used it for several years until it was ingrained in people's unconscious use of cell phones. With that said, open your heart and you will get used to the current form factor and button uses. It doesn't mean you will ever love it like you may have the 4-5S, but it will become much less irritating.

The side power/sleep button is stupid. Period. It was stupid when I used it on Android phones, and it's stupid when I use it on the iPhone. I press it inadvertently multiple times a day after nearly 18 months of using it. It's cost me a lot of great pictures. It's stupid. It will always be stupid.

The top power/sleep button was a well thought out, purposely designed part of the iPhone for a reason: Because it makes the most sense. The side power/sleep button was a compromise to the larger form factor of the iPhone, and IMO totally unnecessary.

Don't hold back next time, tell us how you REALLY feel. PS: its a button I don't even use mine much.

Edit:
Now that I think about it I do use it quite a bit, but its strategic location its like I don't even think about it. That said I would need 8" long fingers to reach a power button on the top of my 6S+. So glad you are not on the design team.

I use it a lot, too. By accident...

You use that button when you pull it out of your pocket, and when you put it back. You don't need access to it on demand. You need it to be out of the way.

I for one accepts more feature to be included in the more expensive phone.

We pay $100 more for the larger phone folks. $100 for just larger screen is not worth it. I want more powerful CPU/GPU AND better camera on plus version Apple.

Make that premium worth it Apple.

I use it for my jailbreak tweaks. Keep it where it is

@Glassed Silver
what is your problem? You hate Apple Smartphone. you are troll. has you Smartphone?

He certainty has smartphone. He is not a troll, he is simply a realist.

If Apple purposefully leave out features that could easily be put in the regular iPhone, then yes, you are probably justified in feeling aggrieved.

However, this strikes me as something that just requires a larger body and therefore a larger screen. You will still be getting the best camera tech, but the best camera tech for a 4.7" phone. It's silly to want a feature to be purposefully excluded from the Plus if it isn't possible on the regular phone.

Just as 11" MacBook Air users don't bemoan the lack of ports compared to the 13" version - as they are very different devices - I don't see why people would complain about the larger iPhone having other features.

This is all very hypothetical anyway.
You don't understand. I will never buy a PHABLET ever. I want the best camera in my iPHONE!

The only benefits of a PHABLET should be screen and battery size, and features can be added that are related to the screen size, but, some of us, actually MANY of us do not want a large phablet, but, should be able to get the best camera in the PHONE.

To put a different camera in because it's bigger would be like putting the best camera in an iPad.

I actually would have preferred the 6/6s had 4.3" instead of 4.7" screens as that would be one-hand-able, and fit better in my pocket.

It's called "bigger is better" marketing B.S., because sheeple get it...it costs more because it's bigger, but, it should not be this way, we should have choice over size without sacrificing features, just because we don't want a tablet in our pocket!!
Quit ****in crying. All of you.

Larger phone, more room. I don't see why no one seems to understand that.
Phablet = larger screen and battery. It does not NEED to mean better camera. I want the best camera in my iPHONE!

Well if they ain't going to make it thicker, they need more sensors as a way to improve quality... removing the 3.5mm jack would be perfect for adding room for this.

@Glassed Silver

I love my iPhones a lot, but if I were to buy only things that are PERFECT that I have no negative criticism to report on then I could live in a much smaller place than this one.

Also, if my regular criticism of iPhones on here makes me a troll, then how do you define trolls?
You seem to have a very awkward understanding of that word where you put me on the same level to people who yell "APPLE SUCKS!@$%"$" and then run away, preferably repeating this with many dupe accounts.
I try my best to explain my point of view and often times I'll talk about things way beyond face value, which granted is something that any company, not just Apple, would prefer you to look at their products. Well most at least I assume.
That doesn't mean Apple doesn't do anything better than others and all my reasons for shopping Apple products can be reduced down to investment into the eco-system, but they do keep taking away more and more reasons that really set them apart from all the other tech companies once (and partially still do).

Surely you have a very good explanation for your impression I'm nothing more than a troll or Apple hater, right?
If you do, please reply, because I'm genuinely curious as to how my efforts to stay reasonably factual seem to go unnoticed for some people. I'd like to improve on that in future so I get my points across to more people, whether they then agree or don't is another topic entirely.

Cheers and I'm anticipating your feedback! :)

If this does turn out to be true and is limited to the plus model only.

Is anyone willing to riot with me ?

This is definitely something worth rioting over.

Maybe it's a space issue and once that's taken care of, the 7s will catch up with the 7 Plus. Then again, my 6s didn't get OIS so who knows?

I think Apple should (and hope they do) either use two protruding lenses, or one protruding and one smaller one elsewhere, maybe near the flash. This would allow people who bought clip-on or screw on lenses (like from Moment) to continue using them (albeit presumably just in 2D).

Cry me a river. Wah wah I'm an entitled grown ass man who gets what they want and if I don't I'll bitch about it on the Internet!!!!!

News flash. You aren't entitled to the best camera if you don't pay for the higher end phone.

Save your time and money for the bigger model, it's cheaper than rioting.

It's not about the time and money. It's about not liking "bigger model" phones.

Larger phone, more room. I don't see why no one seems to understand that.

People understand "that".

Rumors like removing the headphone jack to save space, for whatever reason, then claiming there's "no room" for a better camera is what angers me.

But you don't seem to understand - you'd still be getting the best camera, just the best camera for the size of device you'd be buying. Apple can't change physics: if this alleged dual camera needs lots of internal space, then the 4.7" phone would be severely weakened in other areas if they tried to cram it in.

To purposefully prevent the larger iPhone from having a better camera just for the sake of parity is ridiculous.

People want the best they can get for their money, be that the best camera for a 4.7" phone or the best camera for a 5.5" phone.

Please Apple, don't tie certain features to a larger screen size.

Just don't.

Its been happening since iphone 6 Plus. It came with IS.

The iphone 7 Plus will have feature to entice you to spend more ;)

What is your problem?

If the iphone 7 is 30% better than the 6s, it will still be a significant improvement. Even if the 7+ will have a 60% better camera than the 6s.
It is like saying that you want the macbook to be technical equal to the macbook pro.
Aint gonna happen, it has less room...
And you pay more for a macbook pro, because it is better.

I think they won' t go for the iphone 7+ name anymore, they will call it iphone 7 pro, with a faster clocked soc with more memory(3gb), splitscreen mulitasking capabilities, and a better camera , display and battery than the regular iphone 7. They might even ditch the mechanical homebutton /touchid on the 7 pro with 3d touch/forcetouch to keep dimensions down, to make it only slightly bigger than the regular 7. While the regular 7 will still have a mechinical homebutton.
Now it is time for apple to differentiate to bigger iphone from the smaller one, to create another upgrade cycle and drive asp up.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has issued a research note obtained by MacRumors that predicts two 5.5-inch versions of the "iPhone 7 Plus" are in development, one with a single iSight rear-facing camera and another boasting a dual-camera design.

1. I hope Apple doesn't go down the route of offering too many options to consumers. Offering options for either the regular camera or this new camera in the same body is confusing. Either use the new camera module or don't.

2. Aside from space within the phone's shell, I hope Apple aren't placing this only into the Plus model simply to get people to pay more for the larger size. And people saying 'just pay $100 more for the larger phone' isn't an argument. Many people simply do not want a phone that size (I'm not saying its too big, but it is too big some some people).

Point 2. also applies should Apple release an updated 4" phone. Any technology inside it should be on par with the larger phones, people can then choose the size which suits them the best.

Note: I still use a 4s because it fits nicely into my jeans pocket, however I would like to update it soon as it is feeling slow and showing its age...

Larger phone, more room. I don't see why no one seems to understand that.

Sure.
But the 4.7'' model is the one with more market share. It's a shame you have to pick up the bigger model if you want all the features.
I mean, if the dual sensor is an important feature they have to find a way to put it on the 4.7'' model. Plus has a bigger battery and that's ok, there is more real estate on the screen so you can have better landscape support and that's great, but they can't add a better camera on that model only because there is more room.

Why would they do this? This would just further fragment the line, and I can't see Apple doing this honestly.

I agree, there is a hidden cost in complexity. Multiple screen sizes, multiple colors, multiple memory configs, multiple carriers, now potentially multiple camera configs - part number proliferation can become a real pain.

Might as well stick it into the iPad mini too, then we can all look like idiots taking photos with giant devices.

Maybe in the future holding an iPad Mini to take a picture wouldn't look so stupid. I remember a time when people looked like complete idiots taking pictures with their cellphones not a proper camera(2002-2004).

Well...
I suppose the "new camera improvement only available on the bigger/more expensive phone" theory (though sucky), could have some merit...
We all know that adds hype! There's two models because they're testing multiple prototypes, NOT because both will exist distinctly as final versions.

This has basically been my point, only I would argue we are already at the point where there are to many factors to selecting your device. We have screen size, image stabilization, battery life, and color to name a few. As it stands now I have begun to investigate Android devices again because I want a 4" phone with premium tech, and I am worried Apple isn't interested in providing it.

Wasn't it Steve on his return to Apple that set up every model for sale and asked his executives which model to get from his grandmother? The next time we heard from him we had two decisions to make: laptop or desktop, and consumer or professional.

1. I hope Apple doesn't go down the route of offering too many options to consumers. Offering options for either the regular camera or this new camera in the same body is confusing. Either use the new camera module or don't.

This strategy goes beyond just apple. Samsung has been doing this with their Note series since inception, and since apple decided to make a larger screened model, why would they not follow the same concept? Think about it? With a bigger phone, you have the opportunity to do more. It's like the iPad Pro; why would you not make use of that space by putting in 4 speakers? (lol). Similarly, the camera is a very important feature on a phone, and OIS has been a feature distinctively missing from the iPhone for quite a long time. With the additional space I (that is required for OIS), they were able to do that.

It is a 2 putter though because there is both the size, and the price war. The price is simply a natural occurrence of the ability to add new features. You cannot have the same product, once more features have been put into one, versus another; therefore the $100 mark up. They could have made them the same, but then where would the "achievement" be? It'd be the same phone, with a bunch of empty space inside a larger body. The only other alternative would be to have a lower spec'd phone with a larger screen, and sell that for cheaper. That, though, as you probably can imagine, would be a nightmare.
