I'm not sure what you mean. Do customers care about power lost due to inductive process? Don't they just want their phones to charge faster and without wires?

Apple like to tick the boxes when it comes to eco standards blah blah. If - and I don't know if it's still the case although I suspect it is - 30%+ of power is lost during the transfer, no matter how fast it is, I can envisage Apple choosing not to go that route, even going as far as dismissing wireless charging publicly for that reason.

Apple could make the 16 gb phone better by limiting the photos thumbnails when using iCloud. The current way is all or nothing, which requires about 6% of your total iCloud photos size to be downloaded to the phone. Every 50 gb of photos 3 gb gets downloaded to the phone as thumbnails, approximately. The other options are to have several photos databases, or do not used iCloud on the phone. Others that use Cloud storage allow you to limit the thumbnails to 1 gb then download 1 gb windows when viewing. Slower at times and increases data transfers if viewing lots of photos but in my case would save almost 3 gb of phone data. Like songs, let the customer define how much of their phone is used for photos.

No, because I watch people using their phones while they charge.

Also, yeah, tell people it takes 30% more power than being wired and they'd ask why you can't just charge faster with a cord.
I see many people at work with galaxies use their phone too. However they have a charging pad on their desk. They rest it on it when they don't use it and then pick it up back to use, then repeat. At home it is the same.

Many persons in this thread has asked for wireless charging too. So are you saying these persons don't know what they want, but you know what they want? Okay.

One way I use to find wireless charging really convenient is when I had a nexus 5 and an iottie car holder with wireless charging built in. I just got in car and place it in the holder. New cars has wireless charging built in, instead of plugging in your phone I am sure many persons would utilize wireless charging in car.

Oh hmm, well that makes sense. I am not big on wireless charging. Doesn't matter to me as long as I have a phone that can last all day.

I forgot that your anecdotes mean everything.

My mistake. You clearly know what people want. You clearly are superior. And the people in this thread? They also represent a majority. Why argue against such obvious evidence?

There is no reason what so ever in the year 2016 that any new smartphone should have a 16GB model. It is insulting to the consumer.

Yeah there is, corporate buyers, where storage is irrlevant beyond the os and room for a couple of work apps.

Ha-ha I only said that because you said you watch that people use their phones while charging. So your anecdotes mean everything then? You clearly are superior. You clearly know everything, all hail you.

If you don't want wireless charging that is fine. If others want it how does it affect you? If the iPhone 7 has wireless charging does it affect you? So why are you defending against it if it doesn't? Because you don't want it no one should have it right? Because everyone should be like you.

If the iPhone 7 has wireless charging, persons who want it will be happy, and persons who don't want it will still be happy because it does not affect them. But I apologize, I forgot only you should be happy, my bad sir.

Good question. Why do I not want wireless charging to be on the iPhone? I don't want wireless charging to exist at all. It is horrible technology.

What about standards like eSIM and USB 3.1 Type C (reversible) Generation 2 port?

Lol so your reason for not wanting it is because you THINK it is horrible. However if it is on the iPhone it won't affect you in ANY way. So you essentially want to spite others who want it because you don't want it.

Good job sir, nice argument for why you don't want it. Congrats.

Wireless charging is:
A) Not really wireless for the most case
B) Wasteful

The iPhone 7 better get a good battery not just the plus. I don't want to get an oversized phone just to get good battery life.

unlike you I care about what others want. I personally don't need or want wireless charging if I have a phone that last all day. However I am not going to bash others and try to convince them to NOT want it. Everyone has different use cases. My use case or yours might not fit others.

However you care only about yourself and what you want. I can't change that. If Apple can do something to make some of its customers happier while keep the others happy then I have ZERO issues with that.

Ahm, wireless charging has become really fast. Note 5 takes roughly 1.5 hours from zero to full with wireless charging. That's faster than an iPhone 6s with a much smaller battery.

It's not wireless charging. You plug a mat into the wall socket - with a cable - and then set the phone down on the mat. All that is different is no physical cable between the charging device and the phone. It's achieving nothing.

Wireless charging is being in a room with the phone on the arm of the sofa, or in your pocket and charging without any user intervention. Once that is available, it makes sense; until then it's a pointless gimmick.

Whilst 16GB of fixed storage (excluding iCloud and other Cloud based storage apps) seems "daft" in 2016 I'm guessing there are a fair few customers out there still whom are happy with it.

A larger battery would be fine by me (although I'm happy with it on my 6s Plus) but I'm less keen on Apple ditching the 3.5mm headphone socket.

This is the sad part of what has become of Apple iPhone business. All current and future offerings are pushing the crop of new Apple customers towards a subscription model that is kind of semi-successful for them:
Monthly payments for a 16GB iPhone
Run out of storage.
Subscribe to Apple Music.
Run out of iCloud back up space.
subscribe to iCloud storage.
Run out of data, move to the carrier plan.
New iOS update. iPhone no longer works.
Get the new model with upgrade fee subscription pre-paid, and get a rush feel of being ahead, by paying more money.
New iPhone model and nothing else works: headphone and audio cables, charging car adapter, the case, etc...
Upgrade everything and continue overpaying.
Push beats crappy offerings to existing Apple customers.
New tv streaming services, and only works with the new hardware...
Start over.
Or you could simply buy the model which is correct for your needs - as clearly offered by Apple. If 128Gb isn't enough storage on a phone for only $200 more than the entry level, then you have serious addiction issues!

We give them to staff, who use them for making phone calls and texting, GPS, web browsing and accessing our file management app. Many other companies do the same and the 16Gb is perfect for this use.

Just because it doesn't suit you personally, doesn't mean other people don't have a use for it. If the 128 Gb option isn't big enough for you - on a phone - then I guess no capacity will ever suffice.

Gimmick is a strong word. I don't use it much...well at all now since I have a 6p. However it is useful in some cases such as:

1. Wireless charging phone dock in car - just get in your car and place it in the dock. My Lexus NX has it in the armrest. Step in and drop the phone in it and it charges.

2. At the office, the charging mat in your desk. When you get up to use the bathroom or for persons that have to leave their desk often, they dont have to keep unplugging and plugging in.

3. At home with wireless charging built into the bed side tables or coffee table. Just rest your phone on the table and it charges. By the way these furniture do exist.

4. My powerbank has qi built in, if I am at a bar or anywhere I would just place the powerbank on the table and put my phone on top.

Again, I don't use wireless charging much but having it there for the few times i would use it would be nice. Not a deal breaker for me though.
