We still have not seen any numbers for the Apple Watch.

I am sure if the numbers would make Apple look good, they would release them proudly.

If we do not hear anything from Apple about the numbers, some could take that as less than desirable sales.

Just my opinion.

Apple said they won't be releasing numbers of the Apple Watch or the iPhone 7, BEFORE they released the products.

Meanwhile, Samsung never releases numbers for anything. Not even to investors. No one bats an eye. No one says that the Galaxy Gear or the latest Galaxy phone is a flop.

Double standards.

If I was Apple's CFO, I would only report revenue and EPS.

All the other data are food for trolls, pundits and analysts to manipulate the stock and create fictional "narratives" that only do harm to the company.

Actually, Samsung did recently. The only time AFAIK.

They were forced to due to the Note 7 fire recall fiasco. 2.5 million phones worldwide, with 1 million arriving in the US, during the first two weeks. Pretty lame.

It was a fiasco because they initially tried to sweep the problem under the rug and not notify US regulatory agencies like they were supposed to, putting many people and airplanes at risk.

What's interesting with respect to the recall, from a survey only 18% went for the exchange option, another Note 7. 35% opted for a refund, and 21% opted for another Samsung model.

And 26% said they'd buy an iPhone instead.

I love how I ordered a 32gb matte black 7+ on launch day and AT&T keeps pushing my ship date back but I could drive 45min away and get one today. Let's keep the walk in customers happy who cares about the people who pre ordered

You're right.

They never release numbers at the end of quarters, tough.

No hurry on Apples part ... you're already a customer ... who's next in line?

Yep, its sad, but it is business.
Its just the fact that we preorder and think that actually means something.
Trying to pick one up locally like I had to do with my 6+ 2 years ago...
[doublepost=1474559366][/doublepost]
when do apple stores restock, so i know when to immediately reserve my phone?

I heard at 12:01am (00:01) the phones that were reserved that day go back to being available.
And from 8am (08:00) they start to show NEW units in inventory.
So I check as close to 00:01 as I can and then at 08:00-09:00

Just got a email from Target Mobile telling me that my iPhone 7 plus is ready for pickup. People forget about Target and about the Apple products that they sell in the stores. The store also had the new Apple watch series 2 in stock so i think i will pick up my first Apple watch, when i go to pick up my iPhone 7 plus today. Why wait months when you can just go to a retail store and pick it up.

When did you preorder through Target Mobile? I did on the 13th--trying to guess roughly how long until my Target contacts me.

"Just one week after Apple said there would be no iPhone 7 Plus stock on launch day for walk-in customers, in-store availability of the dual-camera smartphone has reached its widest level yet across the United States."
Unless you are on T-Mobile and live in the Minneapolis area, then there is NOTHING available. Not even gold.

FYI anyone in the US can use the IUP (iPhone upgrade program) reservation online because it's not only for people who uses IUP. Just reserve and when you get there tell them you have a reservation and you buy the phone however you want to.

I've seen mixed situations from reading on reddit. Most can do that others, like myself :( cannot. I was turned away yesterday saying that reserving the iphone online to pickup is just for IUP. Was so pissed.

I've been promised a date before oct 3 for jet black 7+ 256gb, by iPhone upgrade program. So probably availability of jet black begins in a week.

Maybe over 5 million people been reading rumor stuff from MR and decided to wait for iPhone 2017.

Well then, why don't you drive the 45, pick up the phone then cancel the order? Like it or not, Apple is a brick and mortar operation and has to fairly distribute the stock between shelf space and phone orders. Being even first in line for a phone order doesn't mean that you will get a unit that was otherwise destined for the shelf.

On topic, it seems obvious that the general supply is higher than demand, at least compared to previous "tick" releases. Let's see, no head phone jack, an open secret (?) that the real upgrade is coming next year, no real design differences, saturated market, iP6 and iP6S are still completely serviceable iOS devices....who wudda thunk that demand just isn't what it used to be? Even if it is the best member of the best family of smart phones, there just isn't a compelling reason for many usual upgraders to break into their piggy banks this time around. -shrug- still a nice device. If I needed to get one it's kind of a no brainer ....

this is an interesting note. and it reminds me of one of BlackBerry's biggest follies.

leading into BB10, about 1.5 years before hand, Blackberry bought QNX and announced to the world that they would be writing the most advanced stable phone OS ever, BUT, it wasn't going to be ready for a year. In the meantime, they gave teh OS6 devices a minor bump to OS7 (stability, and ram upgrade mostly) and assumed their loyal customers would continue to buy OS7 devices in the interim until BB10 was launched on all new hardware.

well, surprisingly enough, users for the most part stopped buying OS6 and OS7 devices because why buy a device that will be completely replaced, unsuported, and EOL when the new shiny is being promised in a year.

welp, they almost didn't survive that year and phone sales suffered hard. And they never recovered. By the time BB10 came out, most BBRY users had jumped ship. Most developers stopped caring and the rest is history.

Information on these maps is wildly off, of course.

And the creators know it's way off, as do the authors of the above article. (They note at the very end that "availability could change at any time" -- which is quite true and renders their whole project a waste of time for readers.)

I'm writing this from an Apple Store. I'm an Apple enthusiast and a total chump, so I came with the very faint hope that the information on the maps might maybe, if I was lucky, be roughly accurate. Two Apple reps / sales people at the store confirmed for me that according to the information they have on their store-provided gadgets, the information you've read above is (as of the time I asked them) mostly wrong for all models in all stores in NYC (and there are a bunch of NYC stores). The model I wanted was among those unavailable everywhere in NYC, even though the map above indicated otherwise at the time I was at the store.

Suckers like me continue to waste time reading these articles and making a trip to the Apple Store for no reason. I think the point of these articles is just to write about something fun that will generate a lot of clicks and readers, and generate ad revenue perhaps -- it's certainly not a serious attempt to help people get a phone, or to provide reliable info about availability. We all know this on some level, but chumps like me can't help themselves sometimes and end up going to the store.

(I'm writing this comment with the hope that by writing it, I'll be more firmly convinced not to be tricked again.)

The Apple reserve and pickup service is garbage. I get repeated errors after choosing a phone in stock at a store saying the service is not available. All the while I'm watching the appointment times advance.
