What does this mean exactly, no one wants iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 stock levels are high?
Clearly, if the new Apple whatever is in scarce supply, then it is obviously "artificial/manufactured scarcity" on evil Apple's part, in order to drum up coverage for a mediocre device, while if the new Apple whatever is widely available, obviously this means that nobody wants the new whatever, which is a flop and Apple is doomed. There is no middle ground between these two cases, in the Apple Hater's Handbook (3rd revised edition, page 57).

What does this mean exactly, no one wants iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 stock levels are high? Would be nice if Apple released weekend sales figures like they used to only up until recently.
Maybe they took the headphone jack out, didn't keep up with the latest fashion (no shell change) and thus sales are down, making lots available sooner.

Should I order the Jet Black online or wait for it to become available for pick up? Wonder which would be faster...

I remember taking me 2 months to get the 6... ain't going to let that happen again!! It's been a week, but if Apple thinks it's okay to be playing games like that, I might just get the matte black one lol :)

Wow, I take it back. A matte black 7 Plus 128GB just showed up at The Falls, and I ordered one for pickup.

VICTORY IS MINE!!!

I have to fight a lot of traffic after work to get there, but it'll be worth it.
PLEASE tell me how you did it!im in Miami as well, I canceled my order from Apple.com that I originally did on Saturday because I wanted to try my luck with getting one from in the store instead of waiting till October 17. I want a Matt black 128gb plus through att. At 12:01 am one became available at dad land but by the time I checked out it said the item in my cart was no longer available for store pick up . I hope I can reserve one soon or else I'll regret canceling my order.

Hey guys, I have a friend that works at the apple store that was able to confirm something for me. If you use the apple reservation website (https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en_US/reserve/iPhone/availability?iPP=U) to reserve your phone, he said if you are not doing the IUP then you will be turned away. This page was meant for only people who are doing IUP. He said he had turn away a bunch of people who figured this system out and were able to put in orders. But as soon as they got to the store and wanted to pay full price, they were told no. All the managers at his store we're telling the employees as well as customers about this little loop hole and were telling them if they weren't doing an IUP, they couldn't sell them the phone. With that being said, if you did a regular order online and just chose a store for a pick then that is fine. I just wanted to pass down this info so you guys don't waste your time driving to an Apple store and be turned away.

FYI anyone in the US can use the IUP (iPhone upgrade program) reservation online because it's not only for people who uses IUP. Just reserve and when you get there tell them you have a reservation and you buy the phone however you want to.

Not true, you will be turned away if you did a reservation through that system and are not doing an IUP.
[doublepost=1474605996][/doublepost]
Then you need to go back to the store and demand to speak to the manager and file a complaint against the person who turned you away. If you read the text from your confirmation email at the bottom you'd see that you can pay any how. Here is the exact text I copied from my confirmation email FAQ for one of the questions asked, at the bottom of the mail.

"Can I change to a different form of payment for the iPhone Upgrade Program?
Yes. You can also upgrade your iPhone to carrier financing or purchase it at full price. Ask a Specialist for more information."

You need to be compensated for their incompetence!

If he put in the order through the IUP reservation site then that's probably why he got turned away. At the bottom of the reservation site it states:
  • "Available to qualified customers with a credit check and eligible U.S. credit card. Requires a 24-month installment loan with a 0% APR from Citizens Bank, N.A. (subject to any interest, fees, or other costs payable to the issuer of the credit card)....."
  • "Number of reservations per customer may be limited. Apple reserves the right to refuse, limit, or cancel a reservation if Apple determines that a customer has provided misleading or fraudulent information and/or abused, disrupted, or attempted to circumvent the reservation system."

Tried the Jet black yesterday and didnt really like it, feels like plastic.

Really? I've been using mine and like the feel in hand a lot. Reminds me of my previous favorite design, the iPhone 4.

Not sure what website you guys are using, but I'll make it easy for you guys. Even though it says iPhone upgrade program, after you make the reservation and get your confirmation email it states that you can pay how you want. Forget about what the bottom of the website says. Look at what the confirmation email says. It's not a loop hole. Apple is very through and it's included in the FAQ in your confirmation email like I stated before, because it is one of the most "frequently asked questions" People frequently asked the question on how they could pay and Apple answered you can pay however you like including carrier financing. Here is the link, make your reservation and go get your damn phone. You will have a confirmation email saying you can pay for the phone however you like. They cannot turn you away. Get names and email corporate right away if they do! Here is the link: https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en...1&sourceID=email&rv=0&path=&iPP=U&appleCare=Y

Edited to add screenshot of my confirmation email. The top part speaks about the iPhone upgrade program but the bottom part says you can pay how you want as per Apple FAQ. I bought mine full price and my friend used his upgrade with Verizon. Neither of us uses the IUP.

Same - ordered the 6 3 hours after the system went live and got in 11/11. Ordered the 7 from my carrier the same way and looks to be the same delay as my delivery date is set as "By 11th of November"

I was going to post similar but I reserved a phone at midnight last night and the email wording has been changed to:

Can I change from the iPhone Upgrade Program to a different form of payment?
Yes. You must be currently enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program, so that you can upgrade your iPhone to carrier financing, or purchase at full price. Ask a Specialist for more information.

That said it looks like in store pick up is available. I just ordered the phone outright and selected in store pickup.

I hope I don't run into any problems when I go to pick up my phone tonight...I reserved a phone with the upgrade program yesterday afternoon, so I have the e-mail with the original wording. I went to pick up the phone yesterday, and I was told I couldn't buy it with carrier financing. I called the manager a few hours later, and he admitted that the store made a mistake and he would hold the phone for me. If I drive another half hour there and am told no again, I will not be too happy.

Here in the UK its starting to feel like my iPhone 7 Plus (Jet Black, 128GB) will take weeks to arrive, if they can't even roll out properly in the states, what chances do we have?!?! how can be considered anything short of a **** up??

How is this different from any other iPhone release ever. The same thing always happens, massive shortages, lengthy wait times, then all of a sudden things improve and some people start getting them before their scheduled date.

I know it's hard waiting on your new toy to arrive, I've been there in the same situation every single year bar the 6S which I didn't rate as worthy and I know your pain, I'm waiting on my 7 Plus too.

But it's still funny to see this exact same sort of thing happen every single year when everyone declares it a f'up because they haven't got theirs yet. There's only so many they can make and there's tens of millions of eager punters waiting in the same situation as us all over the world. You know what they say, good things come to those who wait, however painful it may be to do so.

Besides, at least when your in the second batch onwards, you get a phone that's had the little mistakes from the first run devices ironed out :D

It is kind of silly and frustrating for so many that have ordered online over a week ago to have to wait for a phone when you can pretty much walk into a store now and get one. Just have to find the busiest store closest to you and they will be stocked. The orders I placed last week were still over two weeks out. Got one phone yesterday, picking the other up today. Both online orders cancelled!

You'd have better luck going into a store and picking one up than ordering one online, most have November shipping dates if you would order now.

I had my order in the first day at 3:20am Cupertino time. Still hasn't shipped. :(

That's just wrong. I walked into an Apple store and picked up my phones in the last two days. Yes, I had an online orders which were cancelled. Apple should have taken care of these pre-orders. I learned the hard way after dealing with a T-Mobile upgrade/order two years ago.

This reminds me of the ATV4 launch. There were delays with the pre-orders, but you could walk right into stores on launch day and there were plenty of them.

iPhone 4 at least was glass and you can feel it, imo the jet black feels like the 5c, maybe a bit better but still.

I dunno. I've only held a 5C a couple of times and it felt like plastic. The Jet Black feels way more sturdy than that. You can definitely feel that it is stronger. It's a very cool finish. So you have held one then? Not every color is for everyone but this color looks amazingly seamless. Really digging it. I bought it for the added grip alone as I was hoping it was like the glass and I was right. The matte finish since the 5 and until now always seem more slippery to me.

Just bought another one reserving and then just asking if I can pay full price he said, "sure, no problem, did you wanna get apple care?"

Reserved a 7+ 128g mb at an Apple Store yesterday that was having its grand reopening. I just told the rep that I was buying a house and didn't want the hit to my credit. She said no problem and let my use Att Next program.

I actually typed that wrong. It was complete at 3:20am my time, 12:20am Cupertino time. 7 Plus black (not Jet) 128GB. Still hasn't shipped. :(
