Apple said they won't be releasing numbers of the Apple Watch or the iPhone 7, BEFORE they released the products.
Meanwhile, Samsung never releases numbers for anything. Not even to investors. No one bats an eye. No one says that the Galaxy Gear or the latest Galaxy phone is a flop.
Double standards.
Double standards maybe, but one that Apple set for itself, not by other.
1. Apple voluntarily started it's tradition of announcing first weekend iPhone sales, later iPad, with the first model of each respective product. This is the first time Apple has not released 1st weekend sales numbers of the iPhone. Apple is the one who wants to change the way it's success is judged.
2. Apple and Samsung define sales differently. Apple books a sale when the unit is sold to the consumer or retailer. Samsung books a sale when it's shipped to the distributor. Again, Apple defined how it wants a sale to be considered, not anyone on MR, not anyone on Wall Street, not anyone at a newspaper or other news outlet. It was done in an executive meeting in Cupertino.
So double standard, but no room to complain. Apple is only being judged here by the way Apple said it wanted to be judged in the past. Now that it doesn't suit it as well they can't just take there ball and go home. They have to play out the game.
Frankly, I find it odd they didn't release numbers. It's understood the 7 isn't a blockbuster. It's understood phone sales are weak. Apple hiding the numbers only causes negative speculation that sales are even worse than what they actually might be.
